Well, lets put it this way. I think Norris at his peak was much better than Li(Jet) at his peak. Norris was the real deal. I rate Seagal, Lee and Norris as the top three martial artists that became movie stars of all time. Hey, On any given day. Norris also trained with Fumio Demura as did Seagal but Norris made Karate his specialty. Undefeated for 7 straight years and retired that way. Seagal could'nt beat him in Karate but a fight to the death I would give Seagal the big edge. Seagal at his peak was bigger and more powerful and quite fast as well and would have the edge when they locked up(given his background in Jujitsu).

Rastafari, Code Of Silence was one of Chuck's best,a fine mafia flick with good old Henry Silva mean as ever.
I agree that Seagal has the edge if he grabs him but otherwise i'd suspect Norris may edge it.

Sorry, but no way in hell was Norris ever a better martial artist than Jet Li. Li was (and is) way faster than Norris. He also has a lot more devastating moves at his disposal.

Also, don't forget Jet Li was doing Martial arts since he was a little kid, unlike the Westerners such as Seagal and Norris and Van Damme, who if I remember correctly all started in their mid to late teens (I'll need to check that though).

RE Code of Silence, it's easily Norris' best film (not that that's saying much), his second best being the thriller Silent Rage.

The thing about Code of Silence that makes it interesting to Seagal fans is that it shares so much with Seagal's Above the Law. MANY of the same cast and crew, same director, same bad guy (Henry Silva), similar locations and atmosphere (both shot very close by in Chicago). The only thing I didn't like about the movie was the stupid police robot that they introduced. Norris had some choice dialogue though...

"If I want your opinion, I'll beat it out of you."

OK, your excused. You obviously dont know too much about Norris. He retired undefeated and he took on all comers. Did you ever see any of Norris's fights or seen any footage of him when he disposed of so many martial artists?
How could you class Norris and Seagal with a ballet dancer from Brussels like Van Damm. He had a couple lessons with Norris but he still is no martial artist in the league with Norris or Seagal.
Norris was very fast and very strong. There are a lot of martial artists out there that would disagree with you on this one.

again, the martial artists you put up against each other are of different styles and personalities.
You can't really compare them.

Not classing anyone with anyone, merely playing around with the idea of movie fighters going against each other. Norris was a competent fighter as far as I can tell (I wasn't a big fan, personally I thought the guy had all the charisma of a wood panel, despite starring in a handful of entertaining films).

However, I will say this much- after Bruce Lee, Jet Li is probably the greatest genuine martial artist who's ever starred in movies, in as much as he could easily take most of the competition in real life (as well as onscreen). He'd make mincemeat out of Norris, of that there's no question.

Yeah that is what it boils down to-these Martial Artists have too much respect for their art to "challenge" fight it out..that isn't what the true Martial Arts is about

Norris was much more than a competent fighter-he was an undefeated world champion for 7 straight years. Li is a Wushu practitioner. Norris was the best martial artist in the world in the 70's. We are talking about at his peak right? Norris would be able to give Li a good fight at his age now much less when he was the best in the world..
I dont think you will find many experts that would give Li a chance against Norris at his peak. I would'nt give him a snowballs chance in hell agains Norris..
Besides being the best in the world for 7 straigth years, Norris has trained with the best in the world in various arts. He is the real deal.
Bruce Lee, Seagal and Norris are the best martial artists that became movie stars bar none. Norris traveled all over the world including spending a lot of time in the orient and took on all comers from all over the world..He is most respected by fighters and martial artists.
I would put Li in the class with a Chan although i like him more than Chan..
