Nassau Mike Did You Watch Belly of the Beast Yet?

Hey

I don’t want to sound impatient, but since I live in Canada I have to wait until January 20th to see this film. I could pre-order but at the moment I am not sure. Anyways I know you work and you must be tired, but I just cant see myself at home with that movie lying around without seeing it that instant.

P.S I also have really high expectations and I need to see if they are met. Because the longer I wait the higher my expectations will rise, and I just don’t want be see another flawed film.

Well, I did actually run through it very quickly yesterday but did not want to give a review until I saw it the second time..
I thought it was much better than his last few dvd movies, especially Out for a Kill and Foreigner..There are some pretty good fight scenes and he uses a gun more in this movie that he has since movies like Hard to Kill and Above the Law..
I also noticed(very happily so) that Seagal has more of his old cocky attitude back in this movie..He also has a love scene with a very young and cute gal in this film as well..
It also has a lot of Buddist feel to it and Seagal also speaks a lot of Japanese/Chinese in it as well..
The movies score(soundtrack) was very good as well and added to the action. You can tell that Seagal had more control(as far as the writing and story goes) in this film..
Some of the things that I did'nt like was again the fact that in a couple spots his voice was again dubbed over even though his lips are moving to the words, its someone else's voice..Also a few of the fight scenes you could see were not Seagal but the doubles were put in better than in the Michael Oblowitz films..Its just that in a few of the fights Seagal does a spinning back kick and spinning leg sweeps that were obviously not Seagal but he does have some good aikido influenced fight scenes as well. Look out for the fight in the disco(which was just as good as the fight in EW) and the fight in the police station and the final showdown fight..
Overall I thought it was an improvement on his latest fare and I dont know if the copy I got(which was a preview copy sent out to video stores) was completely finished and edited..
As far as I can tell though; Russell Wong was not in this film..
I'll watch it again tomorrow..

Oooh Mike, sounds very exciting, thank-you for this information...
You are so lucky to have seen this!
Sounds good, lots of gunwork, fighting, seagal style attitude, and romance too, hehehe...
Sooooo incredibly exciting...
Of course I will have to try very hard not to be jealous of the love scene...
Grrrr....
Shame on me...
Hey, at least I am honest...
Oh, I just love it when he speaks foreign languages...
He's so worldly that way...
What a handsome, charming, interesting, very debonair guy...
Sorry to hear of the voice dubbing, though...
Hmmmmm....
I wonder why they keep doing that?
Now, I am even more excited, I cannot wait to see this movie...

Spoilers Ahead About Steven Seagal Using Stunt Doubles

Well I don' t mind this because lately Steven has been doubled in a lot of films. In Half Past Dead he was doubled for everything. I could see the double so clearly, even without playing the scenes in slow motion. But I did enjoy the bits of hand to hand combat he delivered in Out For A Kill.

Once Again thanks for the review, I seriously appreciate it. Now that you mentioned how great some of the fights are I am thinking that I should pre-order it. Anyways Happy Holidays to you and your family, and once again thanks

Belly Of The Beast

Okay folks here's a new thread where you can add your Belly Of The Beast reviews.

This is so we can keep them all in one place rather than have multiple threads with the same topic.

Thanks, Craig

The final fight scene I guess was the longest. It was directed better that the Oblowitz films of the recent past..
Seagal did use his gun a lot in this film as well..
There was some slo-motion fight scenes and some wire work but it was'nt too bad. Anytime seagal was doing aikido it was definately him but the kung fu scenes with the spinning back kicks etc were done by his double..And Seagal would never fight in that style anyway. It was fun to watch though.
The fight scene in the disco was not quite as long as the one in EW but it was pretty good. Most of the fights were kinda short but entertaining..
There was also some voodoo kinda scenes at the end in the final showdown which was more done like good vs evil(similar to the Marked for Death thing)..
Hope you all enjoy the movie..I will be off the island for xmas for about 5 days...

Actually its a copy of the preview tape that was sent out to the video stores..It supposed to be against the law but the law is really never enforced..The video stores just copies the tape and rents them out to customers(dont tell no one)..It has on the tape if you have rented this tape call 1-800-no-copies..
Actually we have some guys out selling dvds as the movie is showing in the theatres..Lord of the Rings will be out on dvd this week for sale..Its not the original of course..It is illegal and its gonna be cracked down on soon again..They did put a stop to it a few years ago and a lot of video stores closed down..A few remained open and are now back to doing it...
It dont affect me though..I have already pre-ordered the original dvd for Belly of the Beast from www.bn.com and I only really rent from them when a new Seagal film is close to coming out..They usually release the tape a month or so before it is officially released..

Hey!

Mike I also have another question regarding the fight scenes. What kind of weapons did Steven Seagal use throughout the movie. I know he used a sword and a gun(Which he uses in every movie), where there any others? I would love to see him fight with a staff(stick).

Didn't he use sticks in Hard to Kill? There is another one too, I think...

BOTB! (A few Spoilers included) Review

I ain't verry good at writing reviews, but Ill give it a try

The movie was deffenetly in my taste, allthough it can never be the same as his old films BOTB is deffenetly an inprovement of The Foreigner Out For A Kill & Half Past Dead! It has lots of fightscenes,a little gunslinging & a big mouth bad ass Steven Seagal. Yup he is back in his old fashion style!! And I actualy think that he has lost some weight.

The movie starts in Tailand 1994.Steven and his partner is making a deal with some bad guys,1 of Steven's first lines is "War is never good for business." The bad guy respones"Yes you are right, the last thing we need is an enemy in the CIA." witch follows by Steven breathing & suddenly kicks one of the bad guys in the chest hits him in the head & grapping another bad guy & sending him out of an window into an hallway with some of his Aikido stuff!! A pretty good start of the movie!!

My favorite fightscenes arent really 100% decided yet but the 2 that I AM 100% sure of is the fightscene in the police station where Steven is handcuffed (You guys should look verry mutch forward to this fight) & the one with that draggqeen-dude (allthogh it is an short fight) witch Steven has this line "I liked you mutch better as a bitch" (my favorite line in the whole movie!! )

In terms of editing the fightscenes where actually good, but still that new style thingy. But I'v gotten use to it so what the hell.
The only thing I still dont understand is why they dubb Steven's voice?? His voice is 1 of his trademarks.

The dvd has nothing special.Trailers: "B.O.T.B" "O.F.A.K" "T.F." & an movie called "Returner."

Thats about it!

Buy hey you should deffenetly look forward to this movie !!
