Under Siege 3

If Under Siege 3 happens, it should be on an airplane. Land (US 2), sea (US 1), & air (US 3). It would make sense. Then Seagal will have a trilogy!!!

Welcome Bklyn Bryan.

There has been a lot of talk about US3 and the story it should/would have. Every so often rumours of a third installment beeing prepared surface, but uptill now nothing concrete.

Seagal would like the third installment to have an (outer)space storyline, so it would be somewhat in the air as you suggest.

We all hope Seagal will be able to make us3 and will do so in the style of us1&2.

Peace

Steven Seagal on Force of Execution, the 'Mumbo Jumbo' in American Action Movies Today, and Under Siege 3
Seagal does not see himself in American action cinema today.

Steven Seagal's latest actioneer, Force of Execution, hit streets on DVD and Blu-ray this week. The film follows Seagal as Mr. Alexander, an old-school crime boss who must go to war with a gangster known as The Iceman (Ving Rhames) when a simple prison hit goes wrong. Mr. Alexander's former protégé (Taekwondo World Champion Bren Foster) and an ex-con shopkeeper (Danny Trejo) join in and bring some unexpected skills to the fight.

We were able to chat with Seagal earlier today. During the course of our conversation, we touched on the "mumbo jumbo" and "tricky camera sh**" in action movies today, his preference for Chinese martial arts cinema versus most American action films of the moment, and an in-the-works Under Siege 3.

Why Steven Seagal Didn't Do Expendables 3 (But Still Could)...

On Playing an Anti-Hero in Force of Execution:

Early in his career, Seagal was known for playing heroic cops. More recently he played an out-and-out villain in Robert Rodriguez's Machete. His character in Force of Execution, Mr. Alexander, is a bit more morally grey. He's a crime lord with a code of ethics of sorts. "I kind of liked the idea of making it something that's not so black and white anymore," Seagal said of the role.

Part of the appeal of the film for the actor was having the opportunity to work with his Machete co-star Danny Trejo again. "Danny is a real brother," Seagal enthused. "I love Danny. I'll always love him. We had a great time together."

Both Seagal and Bren Foster engage in a fair bit of hand-to-hand combat in the film. "I choreograph all of my own fight sequences," Seagal said that portion of the work. "Sometimes I'll work on the other actors [fight scenes]. But I don't like to do that much."

The "Mumbo Jumbo" of Action Today:

Seagal has maintained a career in action films for a quarter of a century now. He first appeared in Above the Law in 1988 and has gone on to make several theatrically released feature films and over 20 straight-to-video releases. When asked how he felt the genre had changed over the years, the actor said, "There's a lot more wire work, a lot more special effects, a lot more tricky camera sh**, just a lot more mumbo jumbo now."

"I just try to make movies the best I can," he continued. "I have to work with the stories I have. I try to make the action and dialogue true to what the stories are about. You know, I've done wire work for people before when they asked me to, like Joel Silver's stuff. I didn't want to. But I did it to try and be a professional."

The actor elaborated on why he doesn't care for wire work, saying, "It's phony and everyone knows that you're on a wire. It's not what I like. But hey, I'm also a paid actor and I try to be a professional."

There are very few fighters-turned-action stars emerging on the scene today. Though Seagal hadn't heard of her, Gina Carano is perhaps the most notable example. However, there has been a resurgence of films featuring 1980s and '90s action powerhouses in recent years. When asked if he'd paid attention to the trend and if he felt that perhaps it indicated that audiences were craving some old-school action. Seagal replied, "I haven't really completely noticed that consciously, maybe subconsciously. When I look at Robert Rodriguez's films I see that. And in some of Quentin Tarantino's movies I sort of see that."

Of course the biggest example of the '80s/'90s action bonanza is The Expendables franchise. Seagal did reveal that he's still in talks with Sylvester Stallone to join in the fun. When asked if he enjoyed the films, the actor said they are a "certain kind of genre" adding that he's "open to anything."

Cop Movies, Sequels, and Under Siege 3:

Seagal is reserve deputy sheriff, has a great love for cop movies and, as mentioned, got his start playing cops. We've seen sequels pop-up 20-years after the original film was released, so it seems possible that Seagal may one day revisit one of his early characters.

"They're talking about making Under Siege 3 right now and they're very close to doing that," the actor said when asked if he'd be interested in making a sequel of any of his previous films. "In terms of a cop movie, I don't think that we could get away with doing a sequel, but you never know. Probably Under Siege would be the easiest and most likely to return to. It's just the most logical. You can't really go back to something like Out for Justice, that's just too long ago now."

Steven Sings the Blues:

Seagal spends a good deal of his time touring with his blues band and working on various philanthropic projects. He may combine the two passions this summer by donating a portion of the proceeds from his band's tour to charity. He got a bit musical in Courage Under Fire, but as to bringing his music into his films, the actor says he'd only do so, "If it was organic."

"I won't mention the guys name, but there was an action guy the other day that I saw whip out an instrument and try and play it," Seagal said. "The dialogue that went with it and everything else was just pitiful. It was very laughable. It was like, 'What the hell is this guy thinking? Why did think he has to sit there in the most unlikely, inorganic, unrealistic situation and sing a song?' So, if it was something organic I'd do it. I have a movie called Prince of Pistols that's just a blues movie. And it's also based on real things in the South. So if we ever got to do it, it would be a good way for everyone to get in there and play."

A Preference for Chinese Versus American Action Cinema:

At this stage in his career, Seagal doesn't see much of himself in the bulk of wide-release U.S. action films. There's no clear "Steven Seagal of today" coming up as far as the actor is concerned.

"In America I don't think there's anyone that reminds me of myself," Seagal said. "In China, there are some wonderful actors. I really enjoyed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Donnie Yen's performance in Ip Man. Not that I'm trying to flatter myself, but those are things that I'd like to be likened to rather than anything else over here."

Force of Execution is available on DVD and Blu-ray now.

Under Siege 3 will NEVER get off the ground for one simple reason, Seagal obviously dosent wanna loose weight and Warner Brothers dosent wanna cast him as long as he dosent loose weight. That might be hard for some people to accept but thats how it is.

The fact he didn't loose weight recently doesn't mean he doesn't want to.
In Ruslan he lost considerable weight, unfortunately it only showed in several scenes.

I. Think that with the right incentive he would lose the necessary weight, like he did for EW.

Granted Seagal needs a few parts like in Machete to get in the picture again with Warner and sorts.

But perhaps Seagal is looking to fund US3 himself.

Peace

People seems to be forgetting that the Under Siege movies is owned by Warner Brothers, so no matter how much he want to fund it himself he cant get near it without permission from Warner Brothers, and they will never go along with it as long as he dosent loose weight. And IF he does loose enough weight to satisfie Warner Brothers, it will be more than a miracle. Dont expect to EVER see US3.

Warner Bros dont own US outright

its c0-owned by Regency Enterprises(who have Noah and Assassins Creed has upcoming films)

I think Seagal said a few years ago there was a legal dispute between Regency and Warners

Regency recent films now are released by 20th Century Fox

I hate to say this but some of what Josh says is right. I dont know about legal rights, but if this should have been made it should have been made along time ago. The thing is we hear something about US3 atleast once a year, but nothing is ever solid enough to get excited about it, and it always ends up never being talked about again until about a year after.
I'm not expecting anything regarding US3, but I would ofcause (as any other Steven Seagal fan) love to see it ;)
I think we should try to write a petition and sent it to whoever is responsible for making the movie happen. It couldn't hurt to try, I have alot of free time on my hands and would be happy make an petition

I've said this before and I'll say it again, Under Siege 3 can work with Seagal, if he doesn't want to slim down and work hard, he can play like a father or mentor and let another action star do all the work. Here's an example if US3 were to take place on a cruise ship.

Casey Ryback (Seagal) is invited on a cruise by his daughter and her soon to be husband (this is the character played by another action star, perhaps Jason Statham or Clive Owen or whomever) and then some evil happens on the cruise ship and Seagal and his soon to be son-in-law jump into action.

Either Seagal takes the full lead part like in part 1 and 2 or they dont make it .. Keep others away from the franchise.

Seagal would never allow that! It's HIS franchise. His ego is to big for that.

The Bourne Series, The Terminator and several other's have all done well passing the reigns and letting the young kid take the starring role, something similar to Die Hard.

Jackie Chan continues to make new movies. For example sequel Police Story. Why Steven Seagal and Jackie Chan did not withdraw together in the film?

UNDER SIEGE III
ACTION COMEDY

The final chapter, “Under Siege 3” is a fast paced, exhilarating action-packed and thrilling film, showcasing a new level of terrorism that will redefine your view on terrorists. Smart, interesting, authentic and unpredictable, with a large award-winning cast.

If they can already say that it has a large award winning cast then it sounds like some things are already in place. I have a feeling that there is more to this than we think we know.. :);)
