The Seagal hating posts on the imdb board of the movie are very annoying. Also a lot of 1 ratings there. I'm sure a lot of haters (who even haven't seen the movie) voted.

Even the latest movies which I didn't like don't deserve an 1 rating.

It doesn't deserve a 1 rating at all. :)

The thing is alot of people probably expect the same things from his new movies that his old movies had, and the thing is it would be totally pointless to just recreate his old movies. I like some things from his new movies and I love his old movies, but I want something new and fresh every time, not recreations, I dont care if it just the tinyest little detailes that are new and fresh, as long as there is something new and fresh about it.. ;)

It’s already on 4.2 at imdb…what’s going on?? So much haters around? This shows again imdb isn’t a reliable voting site.

Well what I think about this flick is lack of fresh ideas. I mean Seagal`s gunfire-nothing new, Seagal with knife-knife is awesome but the whole scene comes with nothing new, Seagal`s hand to hand combat (what is about to surprise us) yet rather predictable. And that facts make me upset because on the other hand we get I dare to think the best cast for years, I mean Seagal is ok, his partner`s Mann perfomance is really something cool and enthusiastic, bad guy is played well too-Johns as psychoman is realistic, even the supporting girl as victim seems not bad. So potentially the project was very promising as for assembly of actors and they did I think their best...but their efforts were not benefited at all by the producers of the flick. Let it be more talented directors and writers for Seagal in upcoming projects.

Did the other 2 'Alexander' films(Force of Execution/A Good Man) get a theatrical release?
Personally, after viewing it, I think it's the 'weakest' of the 3...remember this was supposed to be a trilogy of some sort.....Seagal is listed as 'John Alexander' but I only heard people calling him John
credit listings:
Force of Execution- Alexander Coates
A Good Man - Alexander
The Mercenary:Absolution - John Alexander

PS: who the heck is the woman we see in the flashbacks getting the IV...was she supposed to be Alexanders wife? I can't figure out what the flashbacks have to do with the movie.

Seems to be a disappointing movie again.

That would be the 4th bad movie in a row.

He needs to work with different directors and producers now. And should film more movies in the US or Asia.

I hope he soon starts with "Cypher".

Well.........being that it's not even available in the US(region1) .....I think that would let anybody know....but it also depends on what one is expecting to see.....from what I read .....many people watch the Seagal DTV's because they are 'comedy'.
FOE was filmed in New Mexico and I thought that was the best one of the 'trilogy'.
These filmed in Bucharest Romana films really are kind of depressing.....reminds me of when I first watched The Foreignor years ago.

I totally agree. :)

This is how i think the are as the best. :)

Force Of Execution.

Mercenary Absolution.

A Good Man.

Now, in which order should they be watched ?? ;) ;)

Looks like another stinker. I will watch it, and probably laugh hysterically at the international nobody actors that wreck the film with their inexperience and bad dialog. Hopefully we can at least 'see' the fight scenes, and not have them sped up or out of focus. At least in Gunshot Straight, the actors brought something to the table, even though Stevo was only in 4 minutes of it. Vinnie Jones will probably be decent. That is all.

I watched both Gutshot Straight and Absolution this weekend (back to back), and as bad as Gutshot Straight was it was still more enjoyable than absolution, and that is saying something. I think because of all the cool posters and excessive amount of trailers for Absolution, that I had my hopes set to high. The majority of the fight scenes are done by Byron Mann, and Seagal's body double is working overtime in this one. Anytime you see Seagal from behind or sideways, or walking in the distance it's very obvious that it's a double. Seagal had very few fight scenes, and as most people mentioned the fight with Vinnie Jones is one sided, the fight that happens with a random character and Seagal a few minutes before the final fight is probably the best one in the movie. You can also see that the double is used in a few of Seagal's fight scenes, but it's not obvious unless you are looking. No voice dubbing-over which is great! Overall I'd rate Gutshot Straight at 5/10 and Absolution 4/10. Hopefully he can start working with different directors, fingers crossed!

I'll add one more thing, Seagal looks pretty bad ass with the beard in this film.

Thanks for the review Clement. This body double shit is ridiculous....actually, it's just plain lazy. If it is not a fight scene, and you are not in immediate danger (where a double can fill in for safety sake), then do you job and get your ass in the scene. I just don't get that. I understand that it may not always be Seagal's fault.....but that they want to fill in a shot (say from behind, or him walking in the distance), but if the director and crew cannot get Seagal to agree to the shots, DON'T film them. They look stupid and ruin the movie.
