Hopefully the other movies will also happen because they also tie in together. It means Seagal will also play this character more times in the future.
And to be honest: I am fine if there is no martial arts from Seagal in this movies. As long he has a good role and gives everything. Like in Gutshot Straight for example, he cared about his acting. And that showed on screen.

One last thing I can share with you is that Matt Clark will not be directing. They brought in an award winning director and director of photography. They cannot announce it until they wrap production. it will blow everyone's mind, the producer let me know.

Well, that's something positive to hear he'll work on a new movie. Seems like he's slowed down to nothing last few years. I will believe the quality of the movie when it's filmed and a trailer comes out. I expect nothing whatsoever, though. Seagal better put in the effort, make his voice higher than normal whispering and looking bored, and go for a different look; no glasses, different glasses, beard, no beard, wear a wig or something... anything!

I'm not gonna lie, this project does not sound good to me at all. All the talk about three different franchises with nine movies, with no existing fanbase or anything sounds like a typical over enthusiastic doomed from the start project from a novice producer.

Absolutely no offense meant to anyone working on the project, nothing personal, but come on, who are they fooling?

Tier 1 project at Universal? Yeah no, something like The Electric State with Millie Bobby Brown and the Russo brothers is a tier 1 project, I don't know what tier this is, or if Universal is even involved.

It's not a franchise yet, if you don't have anything produced or released, even if they made this one movie, it's not a franchise. And three different franchises? It's almost as if they're using the word because it sounds good but have no idea what it means.

I would be more on board if the premise was at least a little bit interesting. But just the names alone, Johnny Jones, Street Avenger sound about as generic as they can get. Absolutely nothing about the premise or titles grabs my interest.

Also LOI or Letter of Intent is not a contract and it may not be legally binding. It's just a letter from Steven expressing his intent to participate in the project if they get funding. This allows the producers to use his name in trying to pre-sell the movie to distributors and get funding.

I don't know how much Steven Seagal's name is worth anymore on the market. To be honest I have been out of the loop for a while, but I was under the impression that the likes of Bruce Willis and Nicolas Cage are now the big dogs in the low budget straight to VOD action movie market.

If this movie gets made, I expect it to be really low budget, and they probably hire Seagal for one day and he'll sit at a desk and mumble and he's gonna look like he always does, and they'll probably photoshop a gun to his hand on the poster and re-title it something even more generic like The Phantom Killer or something.

I certainly wish them luck, and hope for the best. But I can't lie, this sounds fishy as hell.

Steven Seagal´s career is over. Why can´t his fans accept it?
The many crazy stories about him (e.g. sexually harrassing women in auditions) don´t help his career either.

It´s over!

As much as I would love to see Steven "back on the big screen", this project is filling me with absolutely zero confidence. By the time all the names have had their salary cut of the budget, how much is realistically going to be left for a quality movie? The title, the artwork, the transparent it's-going-to-be-amazing write-up. Would rather see a director's cut of Flight of Fury than this. And I really, really hate Flight of Fury.

UPDATE

The start of the shooting is planned for the middle of February. They hope everything will be calm again in the USA. Safety for the crew is a priority. Seagal is attached.

I'm sorry that I can't share it yet, but I also know who will probably direct the movie. He said yes to the project, but it still has to become official. Papers have to be signed :) It is indeed an A-list director! He directed some theatrical horror movies. And 1 theatrical action movie. Hopefully he will say yes officially.

Stay tuned...

I'll believe Seagal is filming this when he's on set. We need a good Seagal movie, one where he has more than just a few scenes scattered throughout.

I would have thought if they aim to start shooting in less than 2 months from now then they have a good idea of where stuff will be filmed, etc. I know it won't happen, but I hope the director can hopefully push Seagal a little bit to get him motivated about not act like a zombie yet again. Like the last film he did, Beyond The Law, all it needed was maybe an extra day or two worth of filming from him but also get him to raise his voice more like he did in one scene in particular, because then A) you can hear him and B) it shows he's not a zombie. Also, with a better editor I think that movie could have been much better than it turned out to be. Anyway, we'll have to wait and see. Be nice to get an update from Seagal himself either in written form or by video.

Sure ...I'll bet Spielberg and Cameron are in a bidding war to sign up for this gold rush.

Fine... Then don't believe me. I am just telling you guys what the producer told me. I think I'll stop posting updates regarding this project if this is the way my updates get treated.... No offense

no keep the updates coming dida please
I agree, DiDas updates are much appreciated!

Sure, it may look unrealistic that a project who was on Indiegogo now should get a famous director but why not if he is interested? Surely it would be great for Seagal.
Personally I'm not a fan of the movie title, but I'm more interested in the project now, especially if Seagal is the lead actor.
Is imdb correct that Danny Trejo will be in the movie too?
