Butchart Gardens is a really amazing place. I don't know how big it is, but it takes about an hour and a half to walk through it all.
The gardens were created on the site of an old, disused gravel quarry. So what had been a horrible blight on the landscape was transformed into a stunningly beautiful garden. The woman who created it was the wife of the owner of the quarry.
There are hundreds if not thousands of different kinds of flowers, ornamental trees and grasses, and ponds and fountains. There is also a band stand for concerts and in the winter, there is an ice rink where you can skate under the stars.
