I would personally say that you made the right decision. I used to take Aikido. It's almost wholly useless in a real fight unless your opponent throws himself at you like a crash test dummy (which luckily for Seagal, most of his onscreen opponents do :) ).

There are actually people bagging on Van Damme's abilities here? Van Damme, unlike Seagal, has an actual fight record. (He has also, before, challenged Seagal to a fight, so that Seagal will stop talking crap.) He says he is now, in his 50s, going to return to professional fighting.

You know, you CAN be a fan of Seagal's films without worshiping the guy as a person. He does tend to be full crap. From the comments here, I take it that you guys believe that Seagal, as he claims, invented the front kick? I do. After all, I invented the uppercut.

LOL. I did not say that Seagal is knowledgeable in Baguazhang (Pa Kau) or in Taijiquan (Tai Chi). What I said is that he was doing some of these arts in Belly of the Beast. These fights were not choreographed by him. This has, by the way, been discussed on this site before. See the following...
