6.9 Quake near Nicaragua

Strong quake rocks Nicaragua

MANAGUA, Nicaragua (AP) - A powerful earthquake rocked Nicaragua on Saturday, frightening residents. No major injuries or damage were immediately reported.

The magnitude 6.9 quake struck at 3:26 p.m. local time (5:36 p.m. EDT, 2136 GMT) in Nicaragua, and was centered 50 miles (80 kilometers) southwest of Managua, the National Earthquake Information Center said.

The quake sent residents running from their homes. But emergency officials said they had no immediate reports of major damage or injuries.

LOL, I never thought of that, what happens when an earthquake hits the ocean? Do the fish or animals die underwater??

Well, fish might die in the water. They certainly will die out of the water :)
I doubt they'd be affected much. Main problem with ocean quakes are tidal waves (don't ask me to spell tsunami ... )
