looks like this is getting mixed reviews here..first time since KS i think..i just miss the times where you could actually SEE the action and not this close up style thats so irritating..aslong as there are a few nicely done fights,Steven doing them and the mandatory explsions,im satisfied

if you liked DTK youll like this if not yourll hate it

I saw the movie today. I am not disappointed, but also not much excited about that. A Dangerous Man seems as a B-movie. It is not as good as Pistol Whipped, Urban Justice(almost A-movies). However it is almost as good as DTK or The Keeper(A/B-movies). The biggest problem is the lightning, which is too dark. 7/10 More detailed review comes soon.

UJ as much as i like it is incredibly cheap...infact it looks like a TV movie

DM had a good visual look almost like a cinema film and had a better director than UJ

UJ had maybe a better cast and location and seagals character was better in UJ

In my opinion the biggest negative is the darkness and poor location, which makes the B-look of the film. The other problem are the shootouts, which are not very realistic.

My review

The plot:
It is a very decent plot for this kind of DTV action movie. However it could be done better and more detailed, I am quite satisfied.
Action:
Steven performs most of the fights and uses aikido. That is really a great aspect, which is positive for the film. The fights are extremely brutal and cool, although the camera is sometimes too close. The stunt-double is well hidden and a common viewer might not notice him either. The shootouts are only average and the final one in the Russian house is too long and not realistic.
Cinematography:
The director Keoni Waxman made a decent job, but his performance is far away from Roel Reine's performance. The editing and camerawork are decent throughout the movie, but in the fights it is sometimes too fast edited. The music is surprisingly nice, but I can't compare with PW, where the music was simply great and awesome. The stunt-double is there, but not much visible. The voice dubbing is noticeable, but it is not that bad as in Attack Force.
The cast:
For a DTV it is decent. The Chinese actors are cool and the Russians too. I think, that it is better than in The Keeper.
Overall:
Steven Seagal still holds on the track. Although it is a B-movie and worse than The Keeper and Driven To Kill, we must be grateful for this. It is worth for seeing. My ratings for Steve's latest movies: UJ 72%, PW 80%, KS 60%, DTK 71%, A Dangerous Man 70%.
Steven is still able to kick asses very well, so I hope that BTRH will show some cool action scenes. I trust, that he is preparing for Under Siege 3 now and is gonna to make it in 2010. In 2011 it can hit the big screens.

oh dear ...like all his movies i will still see it ....but this one really sounds like an sham-ozzle ..havent heard back from Joe but dont really intend too and as for steven well what can one say but he should make his own mind as what he wants to do /say/or wear instead of being an puppet..where has the real steven seagal gone?.no wonder his girls here are leaving pick up your act ..thats my say about the whole thing dont go against him too often but this time well had too..

well i haven´t seen the keeper or dm yet but i could live with less seagal screen time if he does his stuff himself, specially the fights and with wide angles like in pistol whipped... just my 2 cents

He do some nice stuff in this, there is also some aikido. So you can see that he had lot to do, that's the plus. But on the other side there are also lot of doubles. Some are good hidden, some not. Of course it's not as bad as in Today you die or Kill Switch. I agree with you that Pistol Whipped had the best fights compared to the other movies of the last years.

My opinion is that they should do just around 4 longer fightscenes for a movie without any doubles. For the rest they should do enough other action, shootouts and explosions etc. That would be better than 100 fightscenes filled up with tons of doubles like in Kill Switch or Today you die...

very good job!all the trailers since KS seem so amateuristic!as for the movie i think that its pretty good but when it followed 2 of the best films of the decade,it was destined to receive mixed opinions.

A dangerous man

I and alot of people on this site have all the films and have watched them over and over again. However i cannot understand why some people did not think this film was brilliant. Yes its got more voice dubbing than The Keeper but the action is superb. The other actors are really good and it looks a lot more expensive than the $8million budget given to it. Yes Steve does look fat but who cares when he kicks arse like he does in this movie. If you havent seen it yet buy it from Amazon £7.98 a real bargain. My only fear is that his next film to be shot in Europe will not be up the standard of his previous three films but lets wait and see. 9 out of 10 for me

PS The DVD quality is much better but the cover still has errors where are the mexican gangsters ?

here's my review of Dangerous Man

-Ufortunately even though its a relatively good film,it failed to impress after the highs of DTK and TK.The film does start strongly, and in the positives i have to count Steven's performance as it shows a character and not Seagal himself..He is angry, dissapointed, sad and violent and he doesnt hide it..The action was pretty good, some explosions and a lot of shootouts, but the latter were almost unwatchable to apoint due to the bad editing..The editing also affects the fight scenes, most are shot really close to Steven's face making it really hard to understand whats going on and to actually SEE the fight..Thus even though the film does have a satisfying amount of fights, only a few are completely watchable..I think the best and most extensive fight was in the beggining with the chinese man at the road..The supporting cast is pretty good, and while Byron Mann makes a really convinsing villain he is terribly underused..I liked the film's general style much darker than TK,and more polished than DTK..

Negatives

-Dubbing in 30% of the film
-Bad editing that ruins most of the fights, the worse since KS
-Villain underused
-Seagal only in 60-70% of the film
-Boring story

Positives

-Plenty of acton scenes
-Seagal gives a really good performance
-Lots of bloody action
-Polished,and on a darker tone and style than TK
-Good supporting cast
-Effective villain
-More fight scenes than TK
-Stunt doubles remain "hidden"(no outrageous/blatant use of them like BOTB or Out Of Reach)

Overall im kinda mixed on this one..On one hand its a straightforward action film, and it doesnt take long for the action to start, and Steven is pretty good in it,but it just didnt really click with me,the editing was awful and i think we could have gotten a much better film with a bit more care..i would rate it at 65%

I watched DANGEROUS MEN and I can only see positives. The dubbing is small and appears a lot when there is no Steven in the cam :). Perfect and classic brutal fights in nice scenery. This movie rocks and I can't wait till next one.

Short and simple. 9/10

Something I noticed about the dubbing. I'm talking about the scene where Seagal finds the money and the girl. Seagal says "Oh man, there's a body in here, go get the car started now!" In the trailer it is Seagal's own voice and in the movie it is dubbed. Very strange because in the trailer you can hear clearly what Seagal is saying. Why dub his voice then?....I'm going crazy....But A Dangerous Man was a good movie!
