A little idea: Under Siege 3 directed by Roel Reiné

Should Steven Seagal try to make a third "Under Siege" movie with Roel Reiné?

Hello

We all know Steven Seagal would like to do a third “Under Siege” movie, but in interviews he said that he is still searching for producers.

But to be realistic, actually it doesn’t look there will be one and I don’t think he will get enough money to produce a big budget cinema movie.

On the other hand, he already worked with director Roel Reiné (and for a lot of fans the movie he made is one of Seagals best in the last 10 years), who is a specialist in making great direct-to-video-sequels of cinema movies (“Death Race” 2 + 3 or “The Marine 2”). This movies had little budgets around 5-7 millions, but looked much more expensive. The action scenes are also great in this movies.

What would you say if Seagal can bring together around 12-15 millions (a bit more than the usual Seagal-movie) and hires Roel Reiné to direct a third “Under Siege” movie? They could film in New Mexico for example, which is a decent location, and shoot maybe around 2 weeks more than usual. They also can cast some solid co-stars like Danny Trejo, Byron Mann or Darren Shahlavi.

Of course it probably won’t go to cinema (or only limited) and will going straight to DVD, but there is a chance that it will be a pretty good and action-packed movie though.

What is your opinion? Do you think he should try it this way?

Best,
Martin

If there ever is an Under Siege 3, this is the only way I see it being done. Reine being the obvious choice considering his success with low budget sequels. I doubt the budget would be that high but Reine makes movies look huge for small budgets.

The amount of money it would take to solve the rights issues surrounding US3 would equal that of a small budget movie alone. I think the best chance US3 has is as a mid to big budget movie, and what you do is have Seagal in it, but be able to pass the series on to another up and coming actor, similar to what the Bourne series did or Terminator. Have Seagal pass the reigns onto his "son" or "son-in-law" in the movie, then have US4 star that person, Jason Statham or something.

That’s right, it’s probably the only way to make this movie and because of that I’m a bit surprised everyone voted “no” until now. Of course it’s unlikely that Seagal will get the rights, but if he gets them, he probably should it try this way, because I don’t think he will get enough money for a big budget movie (if he gets it of course it would be great). I recommend everyone to watch “The Marine 2” or the “Death Race” -sequels, they look much more expensive than they really were.
The only other interesting option would be if he directs it by himself, but I don’t think he wants to do that.

Two things. First, an us3 with a new lead is a terrible idea. Id rather have no US3 than one where Casey ryback isn't tge star.
second, why is everyone always going on about risk reins? Sure pistol whipped was good, but into the sun was the best film on the direct to DVD era by far.

US3 would have Seagal, any future sequels wouldn't. I think it's a great idea, it carries on the legacy and puts a nice bow on the series and introduces future generations to it. The Bourne series did it, the Terminator did it and a few others.

White House Down should have been US3. Casey Ryback could be a cook in the White House and then terrorists take over the White House...but they didn't count on Casey 'fucking' Ryback!!

Or Olympus Has Fallen, same idea but more plausible then WHD in my opinion.

Sad but true: everything is fading away! EX3, US3 and all the good things that Steven could have participated. He is stuck in dtv land with Voltage.

I read somewhere recent that Seagal is still interested in there being a third Under Siege (aren't we all) and he has an idea for it based on an idea set in a building - a true story no less... Has me seriously intrigued! To be honest I highly doubt there will be a third but if there ever was one sounds like Seagal has a VERY interesting idea!

And just by this little point, you made - what can be considering INTERESTING?

You probably know that the action movie genre replays ideas ernormously, so I see extreme difficulties. Of course if Seagal would say - just theoretically of course - lets make a movie with absolute "wild" stuff, then he can be original.

Otherwise it would - this hurts, I know - only something we already have seen from him or another actor in the business.
I personally wouldn't be bothered, but you the movie-making business.
