I see over on the ActionKings website they have now listed a dedication page to veteren tough guy actor Charles Bronson. About time too me thinks, as I believe he is probably the inspiration for a lot of the action/tough guys that were produced in the eighties who in turn have inspired a lot of the action heroes we have nowadays. Just look at who has decended from him -: Sylvester Stallone, Chuck Norris etc and more importantly - our very own Steven Seagal. To me, he and Bronson our very similar in the roles they play and the way they play them. They both don't say much, both are minimalistic actors and they both are prone to extreme violence!

Bronson is from the old school of Hollywood tough guys, which included the like of Lee Marvin, Robert Mitchum, Steve McQueen, Lee Van Cleef, James Coburn etc and the only living similar type of actor from that era left is the king himself, Clint Eastwood.

The passing of Bronson will be the end of an era indeed so lets hope there are a few years left in the old dog yet.

Here's a list of some of his finest films.

* Once Upon A Time In The West (1968)
* The Mechanic (1972)
* The Stone Killer (1973)
* Mr Majestyk (1974)
* Death Wish (1974)
* Hard Times (1975)
* Ten To Midnight (1983)
* Murphy's Law (1986)

Any other Bronson fans on this board?

Peace.

I Belong To Steven
My mom and dad are both huge fans of Bronson...
So I watched a lot of his movies when I was younger...
I think Steven could re-make any of Bronson's films and do very well in the role...
Maybe he wouldn't want to though, I don't know...
I guess me and mom both tend to like the soft spoken, tough guy type...:D
Quiet but dangerous...
She's also used to be huge Eastwood fan, too...
For me, it's just Steven (who needs anyone else...;))
However I admire the work both these guys have done...
Hollywood is way different now...

Disciple

come get some
He's one of the classic "real" tough guys and I love a lot of his movies (especially the Death Wishes, Once Upon a Time in the West, and Hard Times), but I prefer Seagal because he is a more acomplished fighter and weapons expert, because he is socially conscious, and also because he is a more interesting and complex personality (both onscreen and off).

Holy smoke - Charles Bronson is only 7 years younger than my father, that would make him 82 years old! I'd heard somewhere that he's in a bad way healthwise.

Too bad he's not feeling well these days...
I haven't heard anything about him in a long while...
Disciple, I agree, Steven is much more accomplished,
dynamic, and interesting...
Of course you knew I would agree...:D

I liked Bronson and grew up watching a lot of his films. He and Clint were the best at the time but when Seagal came along i graduated to the new breed of action star..I think Seagal has some of the qualities of the both of them(Bronson and Eastwood)..
For me, Eastwood handed his torch on to Seagal and they are my two favourite action stars...

Smile dammit!
Bronson made many fine action movies. I remember when they converted part of London to look like The Bronx or something for Death Wish 3. What a bloodbath that was. Great!
MMCK, i always remember how the punk in Death Wish2 held up a stereo to protect himself against Bronson's bullet. The bullet, of course went straight through. Not very bright thing to do was it?!

Hi Storm. Yeah, they actually filmed "Death Wish 3" in Lambeth in London, to stand in for New York. Almost fooled us, did'nt it. :rolleyes: In saying that, I really enjoyed that sequel even if it was brainless and trashy, it was good to see Bronson moe down all those street punks with his high calibre friend, "Wilby". I also liked how he wasted the final bad guy -: with a f*cking bazooka! It not only blew the guy away, but also the wall behind him.

I also remember that scene from "Death Wish II" you were talking about. Your right, it was'nt the smartest thing to do to hold a ghettoblaster up over your face in order to deflect a bullet. If I remember correctly, the punk in question was played by a very young Laurence Fishburne. How times have changed for "Morphius". LOL

Peace.
