We all almost have the same opinions on this film. Not good not bad but average or a little lower than average.

Yes I think you're right.

Thank you, At last, something smart with criteria!Well and simple written: For A Seagal movie...For a horror flic...

It´so easy to say the things right...

We have to agree on our criteria because it´s the same, I´m freak out of this crazy thread of madness where everybody talks to the walls without no common sense and no listening to the others...

What it looks it´s that the desperado nonsense hate to Kill Switch from a couple of you guys, a movie that, listen to me, will gonna works great on the European TVs, Canal Plus have bought the rights for the release on cable at the same level of Transporter 3 or Taken, because for the audience the movie has all the elements they demmand of Seagal: A classic look similar to The Glimmer Man, he looks younger, very handsome and good looking, a typical plot very easy to follow, a lot of fights with bad editing or not, impresive hard sequences like the hammer one and the broken teeth of the tall black guy, a good image quality(I have watched the Blu-Ray yet and the quuality is great, you can see every detail of Seagal´s face, hair and hands, the gunfights...)I don´t understand why you dislike soo much the movie.

It´s like Flight Of Fury.Everybody in this web hated the movie, Canal + bought the rights, and the European cable premiere was pretty successful, more than Shadow Man, only bought from local TVs.

I´m not gonna bother with your comments anymore, I have seen too many movies in my life, I´ve worked and helped cinematographers in many ways and I have written a lot of movie reviews/critics for cinema magazines that I leave that to your discretion o judgment.

And today I have to watch a couple of Oscar nominated movies, and I´m so excited to watch The Wrestler and Slumdog Millionairethat I quit. You got it, I give up of this web...

I had prepared a couple of ripped ¨making of¨ never seeing in this web of Seagal movies(Into The Sun, Kill Switch, Against The Dark, a rare behind the scenes footage from Out Of Reach, as well a 1991 really interesting 21minutes interview and two unpublished songs from him two send Craig) but I quit.

I can´t stand this anymore.I always liked Seagal because is a natural born superstar, and because the guy is very interesting in the real life.

But you all, people not.I give up, I leave you alone with your nonsense club.

And I know for sure you will be satisfied and pleased with my decision.

Sorry and goodbye to everybody in this site if I bothered or annoyed somebody, but I can´t stand this thick comments from months ago anymore...

Adios, arrivederci, au revoir, adeus, auf Wiedersehen, проща́ние...And I don´t know more ****ing ways to say goodbye.

its up to you if you quit but it makes you look bad if you quit just because someone disagreed with your opinion

its a shame cos i would not mind seeing some behind the scenes footage of OOR

I don't know what his problem is...this is a very poor and excessive reaction from him. It looks like he can't accept our opinions. Very poor.

But it's his decision and we have to accept it, although his decision is absolutely not comprehensible.

@ latinojazz :

I'm sorry to notice that you seem to think that your opinion is the only true one. As long as humans exsists, they alway's have opnions. Just because a lot of them are not the same as yours is not really a reason to leave. But if you still want to leave...be my guest. We won't miss much.

latinojazz - as the saying goes 'don't let the door hit you...."

I take this hard stance for I have seen his reviews and comments before he has had someone come in and clean them up. Shows how highly bigoted he truly is.

Obviously you are unable to join in an open discussion between people of different thoughts. If they cannot, nor will not, shift their thoughts to the same line of thinking you spew forth, then in your mind they are not worthy of consideration or value as thinking human beings.

I, personally do not agree with many other people posting here, as many do not agree with me. I freely accept that right you all have to differ with me and each other. This is a free group. On the other hand, I do appreciate all your opinions. I do not have to like those opinions, but they do make me think and consider the situations from a different viewpoint - is that not what we all should be doing here. Not forcing everyone to latch on to and think only along a single party line?

In any case, I for one see no loss in your leaving this forum. For I have seen your true self. The self you have cloaked in personally attacking others then deleting the offensive language from your posts.

Good riddance!

Now I see someone has been editing my post..... what I wrote and what is left is very different . Let's leave it at what latinojazz originally posted and what ended up on this thread is a thousand miles apart. What I originally wrote pointed out his bigotry vehemence towards others here..... there is no loss in his leaving this forum.....

Not a great movie but enjoyable enough for a DTV horror film. Steven's role is more than a cameo as he shows up quite a bit in the last third of the film. If you think along the lines of Executive Decision, you won't be disappointed with his screen time. He doesn't get an awful lot to do apart from slaughter vampires with his sword but who cares? It's certainly a lot better than Kill Switch.

I agree with you completely fakeshemp.

This is not a STEVEN SEAGAL MOVIE, this is simply a cameo Seagal has like Executive Decision, The Onion Movie, My Giant... it's not a Seagal movie, some people are saying this is a bad Seagal movie, it's not a movie of his.

Anyway I enjoyed it, it's not a bad film it's really not, Kill Switch is a BAD film. But Against The Dark was a nice little filler, not bring on Ruslan!

A lot of doubts i had with AGAINST THE DARK were confirmed when i watched it. It's general ideas are outweighed by (obvious) budget restraints. Although, for a low budget STV release, it was ok. The look of the movie (cinematography, music and FX were all competent) It just needs tighter editing, and maybe a few more 'sub-plots (something i thought i'd never ask for, given the over-abundance of 'filler-plots' in more recent 'Seagal' movies)
For once, a bit more plot wouldn't go amiss (other than people wandering around coridoors, waiting to be attacked....then rescued....the end) David Cronenberg pulled off a similar trick in SHIVERS, by adding 'offbeat' dialogue and situations. The director of AGAINST THE DARK, is no Cronenberg
And i'm sure you know by now, that although billed as a 'Seagal' flick, his screentime ammounts to about a third of the running time (although, the fragmented plot ensures that nearly most of the cast, are only ever seen roughly the same length also)
Seagal is fine in the role of Tao, master swordsman and vigilante, and one can only sit back and wish that he had more screen time and more 'ass-kicking' to do (but he does do a fair ammount here) The other actors around him, are ok, but nothing to right home about either.
I was surprised at the 'gore' factor (quite Romero-ish, in places) but hardly anything to keep KNB awake at night. With a little bit of editing, and more 'choice' dialogue, this movie could have easily held it's head up amongst the likes of lower ranked 'zombie-fare' like DIARY OF THE DEAD or 28 WEEKS LATER. As it is though, it's (sadly) a horror movie, whose 'sole' attraction is a 'star' (who is hardly in it)
It's still a lot better than KILL SWITCH though!
Big Lee gives AGAINST THE DARK a 7 out of 10 (only for the presence of the 'Stout Sensei')

Just seen the movie, not too bad considering its not a seagal starring movie just an extended cameo.seagal did have more screen time than i thought he would though.one thing that struck me is that this seemed to be the movie that attack force started out as,even down to the blades used by reed in ATD and seagal in AF.on the whole its good beer fodder,a gory action flick to chill and watch with a few beers!as mentioned earlier in this thread seagal did this flick for fun!but with trailers for both ruslan and the keeper looking like seagals best dtv films so far and dangerous man synopsis sounding very promising it seems as though the man is back!

Ummm I'm going to go out on a limb here. "Against The Dark" was not so close to a vampire movie as I thought it would be. It was more like a zombie movie than anything else. Usually vampires drink blood not rip the shreads out of their victim's and eat them them. So the movie was not exactly as I expected and Seagal had some very short seens. I thought he would have plated a bigger roll but he did not and that made the movie not as interesting. The fact they were zombies instead of vampires just made it not as good as I thought. I think who wrote the synopsis better go and edit what he wrote and put the right synopsis in. All in all I guess it was an ok movie, just wish Seagal had a bigger part. Well that my take on "Against The Dark".

Against The Dark Review

After the much anticipated release of "Against The Dark" and watching the movie this is my take on the movie.

First thing is that it is a step from what Seagal usually plays. Most of the time we see him as a federal agent or some kind of a mercenary in all in all an agent of some type. "Against The Dark" was far from what Steven does. The movie itself is based on him and 3 other collegue's hunting and killing vampires. So the synopsis says. But this is FAR from being a vampire movie. Its more like a zombie movie. Most vampire movies you see vampires sucking the blood out of victims not tearing them apart, while in the dark they are eating them right to the bone, vampires do not do this.

Over all I think the movie was an 8 out of 10. Reason being plot was completely wrong, and Steven did not have as big of a role as portrayed. It was more about 5 other people that were stuck inside of a hospital and him and his posse coming to the rescue. But I was satisfied with the movie as I am with all of Steven Seagals movies. So thats my review of "Against The Dark" but I do think that they should change the synopsis on the back of the cover.

Was it Steven Seagal movie? I think NO !!

I agree with you Nomis..

He was like a special guest star I guess.. It was simple and primitive production too..

It could have been better.

My point is (For Steven Seagal ):5 out of 10
My point is for horror movie:1 out of 10

I would have to agree Suzi. The whole synopsis was wrong. It was no vampire movie. I think it was like a mix from "I Am Legend" to "28 Days Later ".
Seagal barely played a major role and thats not a Seagal movie if he is just in small spurts. for horror yeah I give 3 out 10 but Seagal a 4 out of 10.

Exactly you are right and please add "Blade" too in your list. These are very bad zombies I have ever seen. Too bad special effects. I thought they added some pieces from the other zombies movies. Bad movie after "Ticker".. Very bad and low budget Bulgarian production again.. pöH !!

take care

Could that be that you not like the movie because Seagal has not the star role?

Because you liked Attack Force and that is 100 times more bad than ATD.
