Zookie - try Cookie. :D Her husband practises Aikido in the London area, and, from what I hear, he is quite good. He beat me with a large pole once.

Hi
Kanetsuka Sensei have a dojo in London...for the exactly adress I don't know and my father is going on holydays so....Kanetsuka Sensei it's really a good master...

Born in Tokyo in 1939, Minoru Kanetsuka began studying Aikido in 1957 while he was a student at Takushoku University (Tokyo) under Fujita Sensei and Shioda Sensei. After graduating, he went to Nepal and during his eight year stay there gave instruction to the Nepalese royal family and the Nepalese police force.
In 1972 Kanetsuka Sensei came to Britain and became assistant instructor to Chiba Sensei (then the Technical Director of the Aikikai of Great Britain).

After Chiba Sensei's departure from Britain in 1977, Kanetsuka Sensei became Technical Director of the renamed British Aikido Federation. As such, he is Britain's offical representative of the Aikido Hombu (the World Aikido Headquarters, Tokyo).

As well as conducting frequent courses throughout Great Britain and Europe, he teaches regularly at the Ryushinkan Dojos in London and Oxford.

He has a habit of tucking a towel into his gi, with unfortunate effects. Gotta love those pink socks, though.

how soon is soon?

Aikido is one of those arts that may require much much longer to master (or at least attain a dan ranking) than other martial arts. I've heard of serious devotees who spent over 5 years earning their shodan while at the same time it took just about 6 months to do the same for another discipline...

Hey zookie, that's great that you're in the Notting Hill area. :D When I go to London I'm still going to a Church in Kensington Place, which is just the street close of Notting Hill. :D Maybe the next time I go to London, we could meet each other ?

Sorry, I don't really remember what is around the Church - Bethesda Baptist Church. :( I went there two Sundays in April 2004 (the second one was on Easter Sunday), but not this year. I should go again to London in 2006 - and to Bethesda as well - but don't know when yet. I'll let you know. :)

if you dont mind me asking?

That's ok, I don't mind to tell what my religion is. :) I'm Christian, member of the Reformed Baptist Church in Lausanne (Switzerland). Bethesda Baptist Church in London is the same kind of Church. :D That's why I go to Bethesda when I'm in London. :)

Yes zookie, you're right. With all we can live, that ask a very big discipline to make God the number one in our lives, but I think - I can arrive to do it - I think and if I make a mistake to say it, please Lord, forgive me. :)

Aikido is a way of life, a philosophy, that´s why it takes much more time to earn a shodan. First of all, you must understand the culture, discipline, you must equalize solul, mind and body, that´s harmony, you have to interate the Universe, you´re made of the same material.
