The current animal menagerie in my house includes:

The Boys: 5 feeder goldfish who are now the size of koi

Neon: A gorgeous Grizzled Betta with Patriot coloration (red, white, and blue)

Prince Paris: A very sweet 1 year old domesticated hooded rat.

Ginger (aka Hamsterzilla): One of the largest and grumpiest teddy bear hammies that I have EVER met.

Snoozer: A grey Syrian hammie....note the name to determine his favorite activity.

Tiger: A 4 year old High white brindle tabby cat....who is entirely too smart for her own good. Her favorite foods: Potatoes (in any form), black eyed peas, broccoli, carrots, cantaloupe, apple, pizza. Tiger is a pound rescue.

Lovey: Tiger's 2 year old son...he looks like a Maine Coon. His favorite passtime? Lounging on someone's shoulder being loved and loving back. He squeaks instead of meowing...and asks to be picked up like a little kid by rearing up on your leg and stretching his paws up to you.

and lastly...

Fluffy: Our old man,a blue point Himalayan. Fluffy was found in a ditch in Texas when he was 2 weeks old...covered in mud and fire ant bites. My roommie Brenda and her sister nursed him back to health. He's 18 years old and still as spry as ever.

Hello everyone i agree with you that all animals have the right to be treated with love and respect. They have feelings and feel pain and grief and they are so loving and forgiving even to so called humans who abuse them . I have a king charles spaniel he is a rescue cruelty case his last owners cut his throat and left him beside the motorway to die .But he was seen by a lorrydriver who picked him up . He was very ill for a long time but i nursed him back to health and i love him so much he has had so much bad health due to the cruel treatment of humans .In the last month he has had 4 lumps removed . has put a disc out in his back . And is now at the vets he had a problem with his anal glands and they have found a very nasty tumour so have had to remove the anal gland it might make him incontinant but that dousnt bother me .to me he is verry special he is my constant companion he is my baby i have paid out a lot on vets bills nearly a thousand pounds in the last month but he is worth every penny .you cant put a price on the love and companionship that i get from him i am very worried about him as they say that the tumour might have spread but i will deal with that when the time comes i just want him home with me so i can care for him myself i miss him so much he is a big part of my life and means so much to me .god bless sheila.

Sorry to hear about your beloved pet, Sheila! :( Of course you have to do whatever you can. That's a lot of money, but you just don't have another choice, do you? I understand the love of and for a pet is a very special thing. :) I hope things work out for him and that he's back with you soon.

I think you forgot the three French hens, two turtledoves, and the partridge. :D
Sounds like quite a family you have there, Kaida. :)

King Charles Spaniels are such loving and sweet little dogs....I cannot nor do I want to imagine what sort of mindset the previous owners had to be so cruel to such a sweet little spirit. Blessings to you for being his steadfast and loving companion through so much.

Hehe...sometimes it feels that way! We're actually down one cat (had to be found another home...territory spat between two females led to peeing on things...), a hamster (decided to try his impressoin of Houdini), and one rat (died due to kidney disease...RIP Tybalt), so the above list used to be longer!

It's never a dull moment at our place. Our house is very much filled with a great deal of laughter and joy because of our furry family. They're all spoiled very very rotten and have a large 4 bedroom house to terrorize to their heart's content.

Sounds like a very happy home! :)
Good thing no one's allergic, eh? :D

Speaking of two female cats. I did one of the dumber things in my life--in a long list :D--with a stray cat I found. I've never been much of a cat person and know little about them. A few years I brought in a little female kitten in the middle of winter that had been obviously mistreated and abandoned. We got along okay for a noncat person. :D Then one day a while later I found another older female cat, who had also been abandoned and was starving. Thinking I'd found a companion for the other one, I brought her into the house and put her on the floor right next to the other one, saying "Surprise".

Well.....guess who got the surprise!
Talk about fur flying! :D I had scratches and cuts that took weeks to heal. :(

They both found happy homes elsewhere and I am now cat-free again. :D

Yep, but it's going to get interesting come summer. My roommate and her husband are expecting their first wee one. Tiger is going to be SOOO jealous. I'm going to have to wind up letting the kitties sleep with me so they won't feel slighted. Mike and Bren are going to have the baby with them in their room for the first two months before they move him into his nursery...so no kitties. Big adjustment for everyone.

Some cats in the news. :)

Cats #2 and 3 just creep me out. :D
And #1 and 4 look pretty mean! :smad: :D

Cats are displayed by assistants during the international 'MagnifiCat' feline beauty contest in Rome, March 19, 2005. The contest takes place every year in Rome with an exhibition of the cutest cats from all over Europe.

More animals in the news. :)

1) Dakota, wearing her Easter bonnet, rests on New York's Fifth Avenue while her owner takes in the Easter parade, March 27, 2005.

2) Jaguar mother 'Sally' takes her offspring by the scruff of the neck and carries it away at the zoo in Munich, southern Germany, Thursday, March 24, 2005. Two jaguar kittens were born on Jan. 20, 2005.

3) Taison the Doberman, right, sniffs Harley the Miniature Pinscher puppy during the international dog show in Olympiakos Stadium, in Nicosia, Cyprus, on Sunday March 27, 2005.

4) (Hey, Heather--This is cool! :D) Golfer Kane Nusteling watches his ball after hitting an iron shot over the top of a group of kangaroos at Anglesea Golf Club near Melbourne, March 20, 2005. The course, located next to a national park, has hundreds of kangaroos roaming the fairways with golfers warned to stay away from the 'hazardous' wildlife.

5) A harp seal basks in the sun on a ice floe in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, Prince Edward Island, Canada Monday, March 28, 2005. The annual seal hunt begins Tuesday.

1) Pet dog Xi Xi plays with a chicken at their home in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi province March 20, 2005. The pet owner bought the chicken to allay the loneliness of Xi Xi. The dog is very protective towards the chicken, according to the owner.

2) A female lemur climbs up a tree with her one-month-old twins riding along at the Buenos Aires Zoo, March 23, 2005. A lemur is a kind of primate related to simians, which is more arboreal, meaning they spend more of their time in trees and bushes. Although lemurs are no longer being hunted as much as in the past, their survival is threatened because their natural forest habitats are being cut down for lumber and to clear lands for farming.

3) A polar bear named Uslada plays with her three-month-old cub in St.Petersburg Zoo, March 24, 2005.

4) Four piglets jump over a low wall on a dirt track during a pig race at Sydney's Royal Easter Show March 18, 2005. The annual show features agricultural exhibitions, competitions and a range of entertainment and food.

5) Harp seals bask in the sun on a ice flow in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, P.E.I. on Monday, March 28, 2005. The annual seal hunt begins Tuesday.
