Anthony Anderson (Exit Wounds) charged with rape.

Good points, TD

Some people will believe anything they read. In this case of Seagal, he has quite a secretive background, so no one will ever know the truth. It probably doesnt look good to most people that he had an affair with the nanny while married to Kelly Le Brock, and so it makes it easier for false allegations to be made. You know how it is, if you are guilty of something once, they hold it against you forever. It is shame it happens that way, but it is the truth. Reformed criminals who serve their time for misdemeanors often face prejudiced all the time, so really it is not just stars. The reason we tend to think about celebritie cases all the time, is because they are so highly publicised, but this kind of thing occurs all the time.

Rape remains the most under-reported crime. Because women figure, why bother. No one will believe them. Seems they may be right after all. So tragic.

Some us believe he was not with the nanny until he was divorcing...
Some of us heard that Kelly left him for someone else, so why should they be holding anything against him?
Fact is, only him and the Arissa know what went and when it went on for sure...
I think you're right though, the celebs get everything hung out in public, it's really sad, must be total hell for them...
Steven is smart to keep his life private as he does...
It's no-one's business but his, and I respect that...

And it's our own fault. Why? Because a lot of women use the false cry of rape for their own ends, thus making it harder for women who really are raped to be believed.

All I'm saying is that alleged victims don't always tell the truth; and just because an accusation has been made, it doesn't mean that the accused is in fact guilty. However, what I'm seeing is a consensus building here, insofar as now that the accusation has been made, therefore the accused MUST be guilty.

I said it earlier on. Seems kind of far-fetched to me. We'll have to wait and see what unfolds. And even if Anderson is exonerated, the stink of the false accusation will be with him the rest of his life. At least in this day and age, what happened to Fatty Arbuckle probably won't happen to Anderson (if it's proved he's innocent, that is).

Not that Anderson is any favourite of mine, mind you; I'm more likely to forego seeing a movie if he's in it, because I don't find his brand of comedic display entertaining. But these days, I hear a women cry rape! when there's a celebrity involved and the first thing I think of is, what's in it for her?

Storm

Smile dammit!
The point is IF he is guilty he deserves his time looking for the soap nervously!
I know it may be false but the woman must be allowed to be at least believed until the evidence is presented. Many celebs seem to think the law is for other people.

What I would like to see is more average Joes rappists being sued. That would lever the plain field.

LOL thanks for the pic Res.Dog ... he's no Michael Jackson in that pic

TD, I completely agree with you!!

Storm: "the woman must be allowed to be at least believed until the evidence is presented"

Then what does "innocent until proven guilty" mean to you?

It's a lose-lose situation...

Certainly there needs to be an investigation, but the article didn't say he was arrested on evidence; he was arrested on her say-so. The article didn't say the witness saw Anderson in the trailer with the other guy also alleged to have raped her - only that the woman ran out after he opened the door.

There's an ancient and fish-like smell about the whole business, that's all I'm suggesting.

Well in todays news is the basketball player up on possible rape charges. Celebrities are always a good target for such things, and some take advantage of their position to get an willing lady.
But in everyday life it seems boy the ladies & the men can start off saying yes,but they have the right to say NO & unfortantly some people don't know the meaning of the word no & stop

True Amos, but these woman have to realize and think before even getting themselves into that situation...
Then they wouldn't even have the chance of something bad happening...
And some women might even cry rape afterwards, it has happened...
I know what Serena is saying is true, and that is sad, but I agree with TD, too...
I just hate to see someone innocent get hurt, be it her or him....
Everyone is innocent until anyone proves it otherwise, and that's how we should think and view this, it is so very rare that anyone can have evidence if there isn't any, so if she's lying it will come out, it's just sad that like TD said, he'll always be looked at differently as if he got away with something...
It isn't nice for these women to dangle something out there and have no thought of the other person...
It happens, and I think it's disgusting...
If they aren't serious about a guy, then they shouldn't give the impression that they are...
People have feelings and emotions...
Some people (not just men) may even take anything you offer as a flirtation so one must be careful and make things clear when interacting...

Julie, that depends on your beliefs. What you said is not a fact, but rather an opinionated statement.

Above The Law
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Anthony Anderson, the rotund comedic co-star of “Kangaroo Jack” and the original “Barbershop,” made a brief court appearance Thursday to say he understands that he is accused of rape and has a lawyer.

At such initial appearances in Shelby County General Sessions Court, judges inform defendants of the charges against them and inquire about their legal representation.

The 33-year-old actor was accused by an unidentified woman of luring her into a trailer on the set of his latest movie, “Hustle & Flow,” and sexually assaulting her. Also accused is Wayne Witherspoon, an assistant director.

Both Anderson and Witherspoon deny wrongdoing. They are free on $20,000 bond each.

Anderson avoided reporters Thursday by using a side door to the courtroom generally reserved for judges.

Another hearing was set Aug. 19 for lawyers to tell the court if they’re ready to go forward with the case.

The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon at the Shelby County Correctional Center, a penal farm on the outskirts of Memphis, where filming was under way for the movie.

Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Shular said a passer-by heard screams coming from the trailer and opened the door.

“And she ran out nude,” Shular said.

Anderson’s spokesman, Allan Mayer, who specializes in celebrity crisis cases, told said his client “absolutely denies the heinous charges.”

“Anthony is a happily married family man who has never been accused of — no less involved in — anything remotely like this, and we are confident that when all the facts come out, he will be completely exonerated,” Mayer said.

Mayer said it’s unclear whether Anderson will return to work on the movie, but said he will likely remain in the Memphis area for the time being.

A representative for Witherspoon, 42, could not immediately be located.

Anderson, who’s married with two children, was raised in Compton, Calif., and has appeared in an array of comedies, including playing one of Jim Carrey’s illegitimate genius sons in 2000’s “Me, Myself & Irene.”

The roly-poly actor specializes is physical comedy — often at his own expense. He has been brutalized by Jet Li in “Romeo Must Die,” pummeled by Steven Seagal in “Exit Wounds,” crushed by a cash machine in “Barbershop” and menaced by a rogue marsupial in “Kangaroo Jack.” He also starred in the WB’s short-lived sitcom “All About the Andersons” last year, which was a fictionalized version of his real life.

Yudansha,
Who says your opinion is fact? Where do you get the authority to go around telling others their faith is not true and yours is?
My husband asked why I was so upset. He said to "Just let it go." He added, no one really cares what I think here. The sad thing is I think he is right. I am the one who has to look in the mirror at myself. To "let it go" is cowarding to someone elses beliefs and not standing up for mine.
Wether anyone here agrees or not "I" BELIEVE there IS a all knowing, powerful GOD. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. He gave us free will. "I" CHOOSE to BELIEVE in HIM and the Bible. What you do with your life is your business. A friend, Julie

Julie-

No need to get so upset at Yudansha. I speak from experience, sometimes it is easy to misread the way people want you to interpret something online. He was not criticising you, but was just pointing out that religious beliefs dont always apply to every situation. No need to get upset over it, it was a harmless comment. Whether or not you agree with the way he phrased it is your right, but I dont think you should let yourself get so emotional over it.

Julie I don't think you should be upset over this...

I just meant that not every person believes what you do (religion wise) ... that's what I meant about 'opinion.' I didn't say you were wrong or that I was right or that my opinion was superior to yours. ONLY that those who do not believe in god (I'm not one of those...) would think differently. That was not against you.

You said: "there is ALWAYS one who does see it."
By saying 'ALWAYS' you included EVERYONE in that statement - meaning that everyone believes in God. But for those who do not, that statement would not apply.

I do value your opinions.
