Attrition - reviews

This movie is hard to find anywhere, it's almost like a 'lost' film, plus barely anyone knows about it. Shame. It's got major flaws, but it's certainly better than most things he appears in these days.

check Showtime on your cable listings...it plays all the time
or can watch it thru Amazon Prime(fee required)
there is also 3 used DVD's for $6(us) on Amazon US
there is Blu ray NEW for $30 and $14 used.

Attrition may be one of those only released on Blu ray....the used DVDs may be left overs from the 365flix fiasco.
Amazon Prime only has it in HD, usually it will have SD and HD versions if released in both formats.

It's not available in Canada from Amazon. An Amazon third party seller has the Blu Ray available for $119. I decided to cave and bought it yesterday for $45.00 with a $5.00 coupon. In one of the reviews they said you can find the movie in discount bins at Walmart. Someone should buy them up and resell online. For anyone outside US to buy from Amazon.com shipping is high, plus conversation. That 29.99 plus shipping is almost 50 CDN for Attrition. Why they made this movie so difficult to purchase is crazy

I bought one DVD of Attrition only to find out it didn't have English subtitles for the Japanese dialogue.

So had to buy another one which did.

That Patriot DVD isn't even the proper widescreen ratio, wasn't it shot in 2.35?

???pulled my Patriot DVD(with the picture of a shot deleted from the film)..same back cover as pictured above...say widescreen 1:85:1
I was watching part of it on Amazon Prime(free is subscribed) and I thought it looked better than the DVD I have...even tho' it's not HD.

Attrition & General Commander I just downloaded..both with English subs.
There are quite a few of Seagal's movies for free viewing on Amazon...usually the rental/purchase ones are the better films.
tho' Attrition is free to watch on-line thru Showtime(if you have that cable station)
has english captions for all parts

Walmart.com only ships to the USA. Walmart.ca does not stock Attrition because it was never released in Canada. On eBay it is very expensive to buy it outside of the US. Someone would be very smart to buy it in the US and resell. Cheapest I could find was $40+ dollars (with shipping) after a $5.00 promo coupon for the blu ray version from eBay

Wouldn't it just be cheaper and easier to download it?
or don't you know anyone in the US that could purchase it and mail it to you?
I mean since it seems so scare...I don't trust E-Bay anymore.

I watched Attrition tonight. I enjoyed it, nice cinematography and atmosphere. Much of the dialogue is in Mandarin, which is a bit different. Some dire CGI blood spoileswhat is otherwise a movie with high production values. You can tell it's a Seagal "passion project" because he gets to give a big moral speech at the end. Oh, before the rockin' out during the end credits, of course.

My blu ray comes with a "behind the scenes" feature that runs about 15 minutes, with various cast and crew gushing over the Big Man.

It deserves a wider audience.

I really like Attrition, it’s a BIG step up and I wish he’d make more like it.

Good fights, good story, nicely shot and some good ideas.

Loved the reverse-time shots of the guy being killed, the fight in the herb shot which was very Above the Law, the butterfly scene, the girl being chased when the locals cover the bad guys in coloured spices, it had some good schtick.

It’s only real let-down was the stupid CGI blood which seems to infest every action movies now. Can they seriously not afford prop blood? If a guy’s spitting out blood, surely it takes less time and money to simply give him a red dye capsule. And it looks better. CGI blood looks CRAP.

Other than that, great movie. Just a shame its release was so nothingy. I had to hunt the DVD down and I was actually looking for it. Meanwhile, the snooze-inducing Beyond the Law is quite easy to find.

Yes, it's very sad that finally we get a good Seagal movie and it did not get a decent release. I tried to ask Phillippe Martinez about it. We had great contact during the producion and promotion of Attrition. I even spoke with him on the phone twice. Now he isn't replying anymore.
Our website was good for promoting the movie and now he doesn't need us anymore. That's how it feels to me.

I share your disdain for CGI blood. Squibs can't be more expensive than CGI effects.

Sounds pretty on the mark which is a shame. His Wake of Death was the last Van Damme film I enjoyed.

Even General Commander had a better release and that wasn’t a patch on Attrition.
