Bikes anyone?

Any bikers on here? I've become a little interested in bikes recently, and was wondering what recommendations any of you could make. I am not looking for anything used. However, it must be very affordable (in other words - cheap), yet something that's reliable. Something that I can abuse and not have it completely fail on me. I am not looking to race bikes, or have it modified. Just something to have fun with occasionally (but not as a daily form of transportation). One other criteria - as much as I love superbikes - this one is to be a cruiser. Harleys are expensive when it comes to cruisers. So, are Japanese cruisers recommended (Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha)? What about European bikes (Buell, Ducati)? I'm not very knowledgeable in this field and am looking for advice. It would be appreciated. There is no budget to consider as I am not an interested buyer as much as an interested shopper at the moment. However, in reality MSRP cannot exceed $5k ... and nothing American.

This is no bicycle thread (but now I'm sure some smartass will make one ... unless of course it exists already, and in that case I recommed a Ferrari :D ... they do come at a price of almost 6,000EUR).

So please, none of this:

Yeah but back in gear on what bike?

The one I've been looking at lately is this "almost Vulcan" Kawasaki Eliminator. Brand new, and under $3k! What do you think?

Hi, i ride a Honda NX650 Dominator for long rides. It's a dual purpose bike(for onroad & offroad). Pure offroad, I have a Suzuki DR350. What do you intend to do? Are you riding purely on road or tend to do some off the track riding like through beaches, forests etc? Dual purpose bikes are quite a number. Let me know what you intend to do and maybe I can help.

"I traded the van for this baby, straight up. We can get 70 miles to the gallon on this hog."
"Lloyd, just when I thought you couldn't possibly get any dumber, you go and do something like this... and totally redeem yourself!"

If you like hogs read Hunter Thompson's "Hell's Angels" for strange and terrible tales about life in a biker gang.

Didn't I say it should be cheap?

It seems as if Honda doesn't make VTRs for Canada (the model is either discontinued, or not delivered here ... or just called something else).

Like I said - the bike is to be a cruiser (e.g. NOT off-road, competition, or sport). Just something I can cruise in (anywhere ... well, almost).

So far, I've heard of what you have or what you ride. But what about your opinions on your possessions or others out there? Recommendations in other words.

And by the way, Lonewolf, Harleys don't come cheap.

(Hell's Angels like to party in and around Toronto, too. A friendly bunch. :D)

I think it is a honda.

I always wanted to ride a motorcycle, and when I get older I will get one.

I always wanted a replica of Prince's motorcycle he had in Purple Rain.
