This was an excerpt from an interview with good ol' weirdo, Billy Bob. If you're interested in the rest of the article, here's the link. I only included the reference to Steven's movie.

So why did he do the dopey Steven Seagal action thriller, On Deadly Ground, I ask him? "I did it because I didn’t have any money," he replies candidly. "My wife [his fourth, Pietra Dawn Cherniak] was pregnant with my son Willy at the time and I went and did it.
"The expense of that movie, for me, was five broken ribs, a broken collar bone, a cracked pelvis, concussion and pneumonia."
Seagal plays rough then? "He didn’t hit me, but the horse sure took care of me," he laughs. "I was actually in the delivery room with all these injuries and taking Vicanon for the pain."
On Deadly Ground is not the only film role Thornton has taken for financial reasons. He explains: "People say, ‘But wait a minute, you did Armageddon.’ Yeah, I did, I had to pay off my divorce. But it’s a harmless movie, it’s not like we did something bad. "But it’s not what I would choose to do today. I guess the bottom line is, I’m just trying to get by."
