Probably best to buy a new one that you can code the chipset on.
I have one that plays any zone (Samsung), but I had to enter the code to override the Zone for my country. The code came with the manual.
I'm sure all brands should have this now.

Otherwise check your local electronics store/supplier or PC store.

good luck!

Welcome rastafari, I hope you have fun here.

You live in the UK?. I live in Surrey. I had mine chipped. The company came and picked it up and brought it back, cost about £80. If you live Surrey way, I'll give you the name of the company. I have had no problems with it.

Other than that, Yellow Pages or seach the internet for a name.:)

Hi rastafari. Welcome to the board.

I happen to have a chipped DVD player and like you, the main reason I purchased it was to see the uncut versions of Seagal's (and other stars) films which are normally butchered by the BBFC. I have three of his so far and the one I would urge you to get is the region one version of "On Deadly Ground". It contains quite a few little bits and pieces of violence, absent from the badly censored 15 certificate VHS version available in the UK. It actually contains some of his best aikido, especially in the bar room brawl in Alaska. Also the torture of Hugh is a lot more graphic and there is a fair bit of extra bone crunching during the climax at Aegis 1. Another film which is missing a lot of violence here compared to region one is "Under Siege 2". That would be the two I would advise you to get first. I also have "Hard To Kill", but it is pretty much the same as the version they used to show on Sky Movies.

Finally, I think you are probably better getting a DVD player that is chipped rather than one which can be modified via a remote hack where you type in a code. This is because the remote hack type (depending on the machine) can sometimes only work for a certain amount of times (usually 25) whereupon it locks onto the region of the last disc you have played on it.

The website I get my discs from is called www.futureent.com

They are quite fast, not that expensive, plus don't charge you for postage or packaging.

Hope this is helpful.

Peace

Many can be made region & macro free by altering the firmware.....but 1st you have to se if a firmware exists.then download it....make a CD or DVD with the new firmware.....pop it in ...and that's it.....it's basically rechipping yourself because you are actually changing the code on the processor which rechipping is antway as far as I know......you can go to such sites as ......
