What does it mean when you have an infected computer file, and what do you do to get rid of it? I am computer UNsavvy, but need to know...Help me please, if you can...Many thanks...:D

Log on to McAfee.com and get anti-virus protection! It isn't expensive and is worth it to keep those little buggers out of your computer! They have oodles of info on computer virus. It is also a good idea to get a "firewall" protection program too, to keep hackers and noisy bodies out of your files.
Good luck! :)

Hahaha... what file is infected and what is the name of the virus?

Go here: http://security.symantec.com/ssc/home.asp?j=1&langid=us&venid=sym&plfid=20&pkj=VILBHEHPZGAKFLYDIUQ

and choose the option 'Scan For Viruses'

The website then runs a complete check on every file on your C drive, locates files that are infected and tells you what to do to get rid of the virus. It takes a bit of time, but is worth it. You may have to edit the registry to totally rid your computer of the infection. If you do, be very careful. Good luck!

In future the main thing is not to run attachments you get in emails sent to you by people you don't know.

Also watch out on Kazaa and other file sharing programs as some people post viruses. The majority of viruses are EXE files.

A virus cannot release it's payload until it is downloaded/opened. The best thing to do is scan files for viruses before you open them. There's plenty of virus scanning software available on the internet (try www.download.com and type in 'virus scanning software' in the search engine). There are also plenty of firewalls out there, some of which are free (the most common free firewall is called ZoneAlarm) while others you have to pay for. I use a firewall called BlackICE Defender, which fu(king rocks! Search for firewalls on download.com also - if you browse the web a lot, then you need a firewall.

Hahahahaha... Lotus - I have just had an awesome thought...

Imagine a virus called 'seagal-naked.vps'... Hahaha... you would be buggered if that arrived in your mailbox!

Glad you got rid of the littler bugger :)
ZoneAlarm has a program that will quarantine any suspicious email attachments or block them altogether. Mainly, just be careful and use common sense. Also, unless you need "file sharing", it is best to turn it OFF.
