Number of physicians in the U. S.: 700,000.
Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year: 120,000.

Accidental deaths per physician: 0.171 (U. S. Dept of Health & Human
Services)

Number of gun owners in the U. S.: 80,000,000.

Number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups): 1,500.

Accidental deaths per gun owner: 0.0000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun
owners.

FACT: Not everyone has a gun, but everyone has at least one doctor.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.

We must ban doctors before this gets out of hand.

''We must ban doctors before this gets out of hand. ''

Well, now this is a ridiculous statement. That's like saying, lets ban hockey, because some fans get out of hand (and as a result people die).

From the statistics that you've shown, I think this situation is already out of hand, but banning all doctors is no solution.
I can tell you that if I break a leg, I'm going to see a doctor.

This isn't just a cut and dry situation. What about doctors that actually help people?

"FACT: Not everyone has a gun, but everyone has at least one doctor."

I don't have a doctor.

Mmmmmm.... my post was what we call "tongue in cheek". In other words, do not take it seriously. Found it posted at a satire site. Perhaps I should have put quotation marks around the statement to help folks understand.

Yes.... perhaps you should have. Regardless I wasn't attacking you personally. I do find the post ridiculous, never-the-less.

I think what jhogan was getting at is, that too many physicians are such in a rush & not giving the care that they use to...like the lady who had both breasts removed due to an oops. too many objects left inside patients..too many patients released before they should be.etc

jhogan,

I work in the medical field and I thought the ban the doctors comment was hilarious!!!

Unfortunately the truth is too many patients are sent home from the hospital too early due to insurance constraints. Fortunately I work in Pediatrics and we don't seem to have to deal with this as much.

Doctors, as well as hospitals, are under the control thumb of the insurance companies! I wonder how many of those insurance company reps have gone to medical school? Hmmm!!! Maybe 1/10th of 1%?
We have enough incompetent doctors without the added fears of the all powerful insurance companies!
God bless,
