Hollywood star Seagal to play blues gig at the Renfrew Ferry
HE'S best known for starring as an all guns blazing action hero in blockbuster movies.
But now Hollywood hard man Steven Seagal is swapping star-studded film sets for Glasgow's Renfrew Ferry.
The international actor and film producer, who has starred in and produced more than 20 films, is bringing his band to Glasgow.
Last year Seagal began pursuing his long-held dream of recording a "real blues album," featuring a host of Memphis music legends.
Now, after fulfilling his ambition with a US release titled Mojo Priest, he has lined up a date in the floating Clydeside venue on Tuesday, September 19.
Joe Gillan, a business partner at the Renfrew Ferry, said: "His agents actually contacted us.
"He's doing some supports with Sting in the UK and had a few dates spare.
"This is a guy that is taking in about £10m in box office sales and he's coming to the wee Ferry, so we expect it to sell out."
The band is made up of blues musicians Norris Johnson, Bernard Allison, Harold Smith, Edward Cleveland and Angel Rogers, who back Seagal under the name Thunderbox.
The film star and ex-bodyguard, who is also seventh degree black belt in Aikido, is expected to wow Glasgow music fans.
A spokesman for his Danish agent, Owit Music Europe, said: "If you think he is pretty good at defeating the bad guys on film, you should see him on guitar.
"His accomplished musicianship sets him apart from his contemporaries in the acting world who have tried their hands at music."
Seagal, who is known for his trademark ponytail, famously broke Sean Connery's arm teaching him fight scenes during the filming of Bond film Never Say Never Again.
His box office appeal has declined from his halcyon blockbusters of the mid-90s but Seagal still has a very loyal fan base.
Tickets for the show will shortly go on sale from the Renfrew Ferry, Tickets Scotland and SecXtra.com
