Thanx B! Thought I was going mad there for a bit!
I am positive I have heard him mention studying Tai Chi too, somewhere along the line. I'd love to see him silk reeling - a foundation of Chen Style!
I've seen him use Tai Chi strikes in quite a few of his films, I'd have to go back and study the movies in detail (Shame!!!
) to be exact, but immediately springing to mind are the opening and finishing moves in Shadow Man, the final strike in the end fight in The Keeper is classic Chen-Style. Of course, many moves cross-polinate in Martial Arts, he flips a guy over his shoulder in the bar fight in On Deadly Ground in a move that I have learned in the 11-form, but I'm not going to say it's pure Tai Chi cos I'm sure that Aikido employs similar moves. Also saw a few Tai Chi strikes in A Dangerous Man (the reverse palm strikes especially smack of Chen Style)... This is just off the top of my head, mind!
Mainly I'd say that certain maneuvers or styles are peppered into his fights, like he has a strong knowledge in addition to the other Arts he excells at. I'm personally fascinated with Aikido and would love to take it up, but have my plate full with Tai Chi and Wing Chun right now. I'm especially interested in seeing how Aikido works attached to Tai Chi, being they both have certain commonalities (in my limited knowledge!).
