I don't understand why you'll be happy to see a load of unknown actors' probably getting a lot more screen time than the main draw of the film - Seagal. It will surely be just like True Justice only with slightly bigger set pieces in the explosions etc. And, apart from a few brief fight scenes (hard to say yet how they will turn out, but they don't impress me from what I can see in the trailer), I can imagine we'll see Seagal mainly sitting in his car, talking to his wife lots, talking about his former "bad life" and asking for "redemption" with his best buddy and generally sending out orders via his mobile.

But yes, it's funny how GC has split a divide with the members here as to whether they think it looks decent or not. We'll hopefully find out one way or the other asap.

Off course I would like to see more of Seagal. But we all know that is not the case. So at least I hope the movie is decent and that I can enjoy it for what it is. That's what I mean.

I think it was done on purpose. In the trailer you see 2 fight scenes, and I bet that in the hole movie, there are 2 fight scenes with Seagal. They want to make the trailer as attractive as possible. And with 1 fight piece in the trailer it isnt enough.

Thought trailer wasn't too bad, but for me this has never been a promising project. Especially so now it has been changed from a television series to a movie only after the first part was already filmed. Will be interesting to see if it has a decent conclusion. 365Flix have some amount of crap movies on their Twitter for rent. Wonder how many sales they get..

Other members here certainly have the same concerns, Craig (including me).

The worrying fact for most fans - with the production suddenly being turned into a movie after just one or two episodes - is that the film will take too long in introducing all the many characters on Seagal's team and therefore leave little time for action and fights.

Hopefully with the experienced and respected action dtv director / producer Phillipe Martinez at the helm that won't turn out to be the case. But I can't say it looks promising from a personal point of view.

I also hope 365Flix will sort their release scheduling out asap as, if it's not out by 31st December (which will be no surprise to me), it will be a second promise broken within a month. This will obviously not bode well at all for this (seemingly struggling) fledgling company.

I doubt many sales at all. But seriously is that really the very best that they can do? Because who wants to watch crappy movies?! Now I've said it before and I'll say it again (no, I didn't get that from 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'), but I'll personally never understand how they think they can make money this way. But, as we have said many times from their inception, Seagal's two new films have probably been the only thing keeping 365Flix going thus far? And their recent, sudden and surprising branching out in to pay-per-view fights (what next ? pay-per-view porn?!) is surely another sign that they are slowly going under? Yet if they do manage to stay the course, is it '365Flix' or '365Fights'? They really need to decide asap what they want to specialize in. They certainly cannot do both with a name like 365Flix!

Whilst probably 'generic'....BACKTRACE looks far better than anything Seagal has signed onto in the last 20 odd years :)

I just saw the new Stallone starrer Backtrace. Check around and you'll see this is not getting good reviews at all. I certainly agree with them.

Stallone is hardly in the movie that much - perhaps 15 to 20 minutes max; beginning and end mainly - and gets second billing to, errm, yes, Ryan Guzman! He definitely did a Willis and did this movie strictly for the $$$.

Watch if you want to be bored, are not bothered about seeing lots of Stallone (obviously the main draw!), enjoy crappy dialogue, have an interest in old factory buildings (!) and like plot holes a plenty.

On a positive note Stallone, in the brief time that he did appear in the movie, put more effort in than Willis ever gave in his past outings with Brian A. Miller. But overall it's still a below average dtv/vod movie from a below average director.

Sorry once again for taking it off topic. Feel free to move it should you feel the need.

Just done watching it....and was pleasantly surprised. No world beater, but a solid, lean thriller (and given it's short running time...little filler)
It sort of reminded me of a few recent movies (Criminal, Stand-Off, Unchained) but despite it's unoriginality, I was never bored with it. Armed with the many bad reviews this movie has garnered, I was expecting far worse.

Stallone's scenes were interspaced throughout the movie, with enough regularity, to not notice how long his screen-time was...or wasn't (but he was in pretty much every 3-4th scene) and the movie only ran about 85 minutes (with full end credits, anyhow) I may have to go back and 'add-up' his screen-time (but I think it was more than 20 minutes?)

I'll also stand by my assertion that this movie was (clearly) better than anything Seagal has lent his name to, in the past few decades....by the fact that this was a coherent (if unambitious) movie with genuine performances. A movie with not only a 'Script' and production values, but also a begining, middle and end (however 'generic') and not some hastily put together patch-work of scenes to accomodate/fit round limited screen time of a star.
Matthew Modine was pretty good (as was the underrated Christopher McDonald) and Stallone was....Stallone, I guess? Even his 'B-Game' is better than most others 'A-Games'.
I think the bad press, lowered my expectations and helped me enjoy the movie for what it actually was (a small-scale thriller) I've come not to care too much for reviews (professional or otherwise) because (by and large) the same people badmouthing this movie....are likely praising garbage like 'Creed II' (or whatever 'Superhero' movie that's clogging up the multiplexes at the moment?)

This is the sort of movie that Seagal should (and easily 'could') make....The problem however, is Seagal (sadly)

Nice review as always Lee. Glad you enjoyed the film.

To be fair, I also agree on a few of your points:decent Matthew Modine performance;lame superhero overkill praise; not taking notice of so-called professional reviews and a few more.

As for Stallone I can take him or leave him (although I do prefer him to the joke that is Arnuld) , which is why you probably enjoyed it a lot more than I did? I was never a big "super fan" of his.

I agree with you. A lot of directors that worked with Seagal said to me that Seagal is his own enemy. He should let people do their job......
That is why for example Schwarzenegger was so succesfull. He didn't want to ontrol everything....He trusted his directors.

There's not that much of this month to go and GC is still not released. It seems 365Flix lied (yet again!) about it coming out in December (surprise, surprise).
I won't be buying GC from 365Flix on principal. I'm also deleting my account with them. What a pathetic little start-up company. Go bullsh*t someone else. I'm done.

At last...a better trailer! But I still find it bizzare that they show the way that Jake (Seagal) kills the main bad guy lol.

So it's January....still waiting for a release.....This is becoming a joke!

And not one bit of promotion! So I certainly wish it was a joke. Saying that, the joke will be on them in the long-term when they go bust, and they will only have themselves to blame.
