also Seagal has only 25 minutes screen time anyway

This is really a disappointment. Not only that the cover is lying, we had to wait more than a year since the last movie just to realize that he is only 25 minutes in this one?

If it's a role in a big movie like in Machete I wouldn't say something, but this is a little dtv-movie, probably well made, but still a dtv movie. And there he should be the lead, or at least one of two leads (like in MC).

It's really sad because the movie itself seems to be ok from what I read here.

The last Seagal movie I enjoyed more or less was around 2009.

it depends on how much you like bren Foster,Trejo etc

if you a pure Seagal films then FOE is not the film

that is a strange review....if you read it it says seagal and foster are all right and then at the bottom 1-5

Its the politest bad review i have read

To be fair i agree about the plot line being confusing and it reminded me a bit like ITS(well shot but slighty confusing plot)

Also when i said it was his 4th best behind UJ,PW AND ITS i forget MC which i think is ahead of FOE just because its more of a Seagal like film....so FOE is 5th

That said some of Bren Fosters fight scenes are pretty impressive and i can see him doing a Scott Adkins and going to do his own STV films

Well, I did'nt find anything confusing about the plot at all. If you like Seagal, I think this is one of his best STV movies. Ving is the bad guy who wants to take over Seagal's empire. Its a pretty simple plot with some cool fights. I liked it and hope that he keeps making similar movies. Seagal is the big dog in this movie, but Bren Foster gets a lot of good scenes and could be another Scott Adkins in the making like Rastafari points out.

You are clearly a Bren Foster fan and not a Seagal fan. So why are you here at a Seagal forum ?????

Calm down! Yes i'm a Bren Foster Fan and Yes this maybe a Seagal page but it was in reference to the Movie he is in! BOTH stars are in the film and i like BOTH stars but found Foster did a great job. He will get ALOT of new fan's from this movie.

In my opinion MC is one of his worst films. It’s extremely boring to see them walking around in the same dark rooms most of the time. The fight scenes of Seagal are badly filmed and edited (when he -or his double- hits the bad guys just a bit, they fly several meters through the room), the bad guy just stands around for most of the time, and the soundtrack is disappointing.

Agree with you Martin. The only scene I liked was the scene with Seagal and the 2 prisoners ("Does that hurt...pussy")....

By the way. I am going to watch Force of Execution in 2 hours....

I agree the fights were not great in MC(they are not great in FOE either)

But I think Steve Austin brought alot to that film and there was more action than most STV films

Its weird alot of Seagal fans dont like MC yet they like The Keeper whch i dont like much at all...I suppose everyone is different and even though everyone on here is a seagal fan(apart from boyd) most people have there own fav films

I enjoyed FOE.....
to be honest...it was the 1st Seagal movie in a long, long time that I was able to watch completely thru in one view. :)
Usually I have to come back to his STV to finish watching them.
Overall I think it's a decent film that Seagal happens to be in....
really not a 'Seagal film' in my eyes.

Just finished watching FOE.

I really liked it although you have to understand that this is not a pure Seagal movie!

Seagal plays the character of Mr. Alexander great. You can see that he likes this character and that he put some effort in this movie. Yes it's true, he only has 25-30 minutes of screentime, but it didn't bother me. Because it was fun watching Bren Foster, Danny Trejo and Ving Rhames. Also the movie has a great look and feel. For the first time I felt watching a professionally shot Seagal movie (just like The Keeper which also didn't feel cheap).

The only problem I had was the story. Because we get all these characters and it doesn't get clear which one is the protagonist. But this is getting compensated with a lot of action. We get a gunfight or fistfight every 5 minutes. All kinds of action. Also Bren Foster was awesome and has the most fights. Steven has 4-5 fights. By the way, it has a lot of bad language, cursing and tough guy dialogues.

For the first time (just like The Keeper) I was not distracted by irritating doubles, voiceovers and bad cgi. This movie felt like a good movie where they put in a lot of effort. Can't wait for A Good Man.

Yes, I also can't wait for A GOOD MAN. Especially since Steven uses the wakizashi. Using the wakizashi was only allowed to be carried for the noble, so even Mr. Alexander's behaviour makes sense :) At least if you honor and follow the bushido, the way of the warrior, like I do :D

Yeah....that's what I meant by I enjoyed it......the editing was good so as not to show the obvious....
I didn't notice any obvious 'dubbing''stunt doubles'....there was no annoying 'car chase' scene....nor the usual 20 something lover for Seagal(for once it was supposed to be his daughter...:)) ....soundtrack was OK...editing was OK....probably the weakest point is in the story itself, but not bad at all....
Has it's fault as any movie.....the only time I remember going 'Oh come on!" was the kick Seagal supposedly did toward the end...otherwise I think most people will find it extremely watchable.
Nobody was expecting a 'high-end Seagal flick....but it's OK(to me)...
I think it's up there in the top 5 Seagal STV movies(not including the True Justice DVD series, those are not movies)
PS: I have/had a hard time sitting thru viewing most of those 'True Justice ' episodes, although I didn't mind the 'Lawman' series.
