saw this on E-Bay today(that's what I meant when I said by 'keeping an eye on auction and private collector sites' in another post).
If anyone should get hold of this..let me know
description from the E-Bay page...

"""***ULTRA RARE*** This tape shows action movie star and Aikido Master Steven Seagal teaching an Aikido seminar to approximately 500 students in the mid 1990's
For the first 3 minuets one of his top students, 5th Dan Hero Matsuoka who is also a stunt man in several of his films teaches, until Seagal arrives.

Watch him teach the finer points of his Aikido, and hear him talk about his philosophies on Aikido and applying the techniques.
The camera stays on Seagal as he walks round the mat while the students are training and you can watch him observe, correct and teach individual students and groups of students.
You can also see several of his top students training, many of whom have been in his films.
Total running time is 1hour and 42min.

Please note that this is not a professionally produced film, it was taken from a balcony with a camcorder and put on to tape. As such, quality is not always 100%, but it is still very good.
anyone who likes Seagal films or any serious Aikidoka will LOVE this ultra rare tape. """""""""

John
PS: if this person is lucky they may be able to sell it before E-Bay pulls it for being an 'illegit' copy.

J. Lucas, thank you a lot for the news, but I don't feel secure on buying something on E-Bay...
And I don't have an international credit card... :(

These people trying to cash in on ebay by using this non-authorized footage our beloved sensei, really make me sick...Oh well...Doesn't seem fair to me that Steven doesn't get any of these profits...And these are big profits, I believe...
I mean the PBT video from the yahoo site is legitimate, and it wasn't selling for anything close to what Ebayers get for those homemade copies as far as I know...
Didn't someone here say the PBT has gone for around $100.00 or more? That last tape John mentioned sold for big bucks...
Sensei probably doesn't even mind, I wouldn't really be surprised if he just said, "Just let em do it, if they need the money."
I could be wrong, but to me he's so incredible, very down to earth about stuff...Quite cool, I think...;)

Dear Lotussan,

I was quite dissapointed with your comments about people like us make you sick, how dare you. I personally have supported Seagal Sensei since 1990 I have paid my money to see all his films bought all his films on video also bought them on DVD, I pay to watch his movies which were released at the cinema, so remember without people like me and the many others out there doing the same there would be no Steven Seagal. what do you think would have happened if no one went to see Above the Law at the cinema or Hard to Kill do you think WArner Bros would have continued to invest money!!

Remeber the quote from one of his films " How much is enough, how much money is enough"

I guess sensei doesnt mind so if its ok with it him just accept it, you know nothing about me. I think Seagal sensei would be proud and happy that people are getting enjoyment out of it and its helping them with their aikido and to become better people each day. Dont you think thats what sensei wants to see more than anything!. Its not as if he is conducting seminars on a regular basis anymore is it, anyway he must have seen someone recoding it so dont you think he would have gone over and asked them to stop filiming if he was that bothered.

I think when you say things like my beloved sensei sounds a bit embarassing and cheesy I mean come on how old are you.

This is also for Lotussan.

I bet if someone put that video tape in your hand right now, would you watch it or would you say no Im not going to watch that because Sensei will not get any profit from it?

I might watch but I wouldn't sell it! And I certainly would not buy it, no matter how bad I wanted to watch it, that is why it took so long for me to see PBT! These people are probably not doing it to help people with Aikido either, they are doing it for the money, and in the process they are ripping him off! Is that supporting the sensei???
I am talking about bootlegs, not other kinds of media, of course I want to support Steven as well, I want to support his carreer not rip him off! I wasn't talking about you anyway, unless you are the ones peddling these tapes, so what is your problem? Re-read my post please...There is nothing wrong with legitimately buying his videos and supporting him...Maybe I am too closed minded about all this I don't know, all I know is it's his skill and his image that is used on these tapes, and he deserves to get paid for it! That is my only point. Sorry to have upset you...

Dear Lotus,

You see, you would watch it. Where is the difference, you would be watching something free of charge and getting his skill and image for free.

What do you mean ripping the sensei off they have supported him through his whole career without us there is no Seagal!!!!!!!!

ok, I know watching would be sort of wrong, but like I said, I would never buy the video and support those copies...
I meant that these illegal videos are ripping him off!
Nothing wrong with his students or the fans supporting him...
I don't know who is selling this stuff, maybe it's students, I suppose it is...
I still think it's not right, but if you do think so, then whatever...
He could take legal action technically that is all I am saying, though I doubt he ever would, because the videos do help the students out...
I am sure all his students love him, he is a man to be admired and loved for the things he does to help others...
I am not critisizing you, so what's the problem?

Steal a penny, steal a million, it's the same!
When one takes something, anything, that does not belong to them, that's stealing! To sell it only compounds the wrong!

Steal:To take (the property of another) without
right or permission!

Hey Musubiuk, you really can't see the difference between filming a seminare for private use and making copies and selling it? The law is very clear about the difference, and do you honestly think Steven would like someone to make money of his seminar without consulting him?
If someone had this tape and would show it to me I might have watched it, that is sharing, I wouldn't have bought it or sold it unless I knew it was ok with Steven, because that would break copywrite law, besides being un-ethical imho and I don't consider that sharing.

In any case I don't think you need to justify anything, you are free to do what you want and I'm not going to think less of you anyway. So welcome to the board.

Yes Musubiuk,

Do what you want, it's a free country...
I just wouldn't be doing it, that's just me...
I don't much hear about people getting into legal trouble over it, and I doubt Steven would do anything either, because I think he's probably very generous, and compassionate in sharing things with others...
I just hope you understand that it is a risk...
This is my position but I am not judging or condemming you...
I hope you will continue to post here...
Obviously you understand just how amazingly powerful Seagal Sensei's fighting is, and I think that's great...

I have some footage of seminars etc with some of the great Sensei. I would never sell any of this to anyone, or make copies to sell. I have only shown it to a few selected people. Selling seminar footage is disrespectful and shows someones true character when they are willing to make a few dollars for footage that the sensei thought they were most likely keeping for themselves or their students.

It's no wonder cameras are no longer allowed at some seminars.

Having said that, they wouldn't sell it if people were not willing to buy it.
