I got something you guys dont...

I went by a video rental store today and to my shock the store was renting Out for a Kill. I started a membership and rented it along with The Good Thief(which is also not due out until auguat 19th).
I think its illegal in the US and a law was passed here a few years ago but it has never been enforced. I can only assume that the video store got a preview copy of the movie and have made numerous copies and actually have them up for rent..I'm not gonna be able to watch it tonight but will do so sometime tomorrow..I have to work a double shift tonight and I have'nt slept in a day already..
They have the cover that was first put out for it with Seagal holding a gun in each hand..
I'm gonna watch it tomorrow....

And I don't want to see a review unless you can review it without spoilers.... I don't want to "see" the film until I have it in my hot little hands!

Well, I just got throught watching Out for a Kill. It was ok but not what i had expected. You could tell it was another film by Michael Oblowitz(of which i am not a fan).
The sword fight with the two monks was very good and maybe the best that Seagal has ever done on film with swords..I could never understand why Seagal dont have more sword fights in some of his movies being that he is one of the best in the world wielding a sword. At his peak he was one of the best in all of Japan. The sword fight was also all him and no stunt double.
There were some other pretty cool fights and some very short fights and a few done with stunt double as well. He also had a fight with a guy that reminded me of Jet Li(in that he was flying all over the room-I hate that kind of fakey stuff). He was doing some kind of monkey kung fu(I could'nt wait for that fight to end-not realistic at all in my opinion).
The movie itself had a B-grade feel to it and was almost entirely a chinese cast with a lot of Chinese dialogue(with caption-mostly). Seagal also spoke in Chinese in parts of the movie..
I wont go into anything specific about the plot or anything in it but it was not one of the best editing jobs that i have seen and there were jumps all over the place from scene to scene and in some ways was similar to The Foreigner in that sense..
I've already ordered my original dvd from Amazon.com but seeing this bootleg copy out, I could not resist to take a sneak peak.

The film does live up to its R-rating..Its not like HPD-there is some nudity and violent shootouts armbreaks etc..

There are more fight scenes than Foreigner and one good sword fight scene. Some are very short and some do have slow motion and there is that one with this guy that is doing some kind of monkey fu and flying around from wall to wall-like Crouching Tiger Hidden Wires( I guess this was the comedy section of OFAK). I hate fights with people flying all over the room kicking ass(No, i'm not a Jet Li fan).

I'm not gonna say if Seagal dies or gets his ass kicked-Your gonna have to buy or rent the video..Not gonna give away anything specific.

The movie does have a B-grade look and feel. Hey, what can you expect for 20 mil.

Oh and Glimmerman, you do get to see some titties and some nude dancing..

Thanks for the info Mike. Sounds like it's ok but maybe not as good as hoped. I'll reserve judgement until i see it.

He does do some Aikido and even an arm snap backwards like in Above the Law that he made famous. There are also some of the so callled hand slap fighting that you referred to and there is some slo-mo fights but the fights in this movie were'nt that bad. There just never is enough of them and they dont last as long as we would like them to.
I'm gonna watch it again sometime tomorrow because i watched it in a rush this time and was interrupted several times while i had it playing..

Its pretty hard to put a number on it right now and I'm kinda bias being that i am a Seagal fan..
I really want to see Seagal get back to the big screen with Yakuza and Ghenghis and US3 because OFAK had too much of a B-grade feel to it and was almost totally a Chinese cast and the editing was not the best. It had some similarities to the Foreigner in how it was "all over the place, moving from one scene to another" trying to implement a plot that you had to follow..
I think the sword fight scenes were the best of the film but Seagal lugged around the movie otherwise and acted bored at times. Seagal is one big dude though and being in a movie with mostly a chinese cast really shows that..
It had some violent shootouts and the fight scenes were better than Foreigner and HPD. I guess I would give it a 7 out of 10 recognizing that it is a STV movie.
I'm gonna watch it again tomorrow and get a better look at it.

WAAHEY!

Thanks for the review. I have ordered both Out For A Kill and Half Past Dead and also Van Damme's Derailed and The Order. Looks like it's going to be a STV summer!

Don't know why people have some problems with STV movies, they are just as normal as those on the big screen... they are movies anyway...right ?
