Nice one Craig for the review!Sorry it wasn't as good as you had hoped for!

Why the hell didn't Seagal do more hand-to-hand fights??These sword fights are taking there toll on with me:(.Just seems like a lazy excuse not to put the effort in with some decent fight scenes:(.I guess the older he gets the less fight scenes we will see:(.Most people would want to improve on each film one does;it seems mr Seagal doesn't:(.And knowing that 'Enemy Within' has a less than decent cast, director, budget etc.than Into The Sun,it certainly doesn't look good.Unless Seagal starts working with an A-list director/actors again(small hope?),I just cannot see us ever getting a film that we will be happy with:(I hope I am wrong.Still,I will reserve my final thoughts until I have seen the movie.

Peace,
Leon("who has lost faith in the tall guy")

You'll be glad to hear it's all his own voice. :) Even the Japanese dialogue which he does alot and often. :)

Maybe the movie will be better the next time. I was quite tired when watching it for the first time.

Leon > I too wish for more hand to hand fights, the one in the marketplace was excellent so it shows Steven Seagal has not lost any of his ability.

Pretty disappointing, i was expecting much more for a budget of $35 million, i don't know where all this money was used as it seems rather excessive considering not much was blown up.

If the majority of the film is shot in Japan especially if in it's in downtown Tokyo then that would shoot the budget up. Tokyo and L.A are the too most expensive cities in the world for film shoots.

No way Craig, nothing can be as worse than Belly Of The Beast, Seagal looked terrible, the fights were pathetic..

Exactly and with the fightscene clip that was posted I think it is as clear as daylight that the fightscenes are mutch better done than Belly Of The Beast :) :)

Review without spoilers

I've seen the movie yesterday and would like to share my opinion with you all.

All in all it is a pretty entertaining movie.
If I have to give a rating i'd say a 3 out of 5.

Seagal returns somewhat to his roots (dressed in black). He even wears a coat like Neo from the Matrix and it really ads a cool touch to the big guy.
He looks pretty good in shape and what I could see he does all the fighting himself so thats an improvement.

The chinese and japanese actors are good enough although their English (when the japanese talk to the chinese or vice versa) isn't very good.

Seagal does talk quite a lot of Japanese and it sounds pretty good.

His fighting is back up to speed (you've seen the preview scene I presume).

There is another hand to hand fight which combines fighting like in The Glimmerman and Exit wounds with his aikido. The sword fights are excellent and show that he is also a master at this.

The story is reasonably good, but no Oscar stuff yet.

In line of his recent movies (out for a kill, belly of the beast, clementine and Out Of reach) i'd say this is the best one and if he continues the improving quality in his next movies then a comeback to the big screen becomes a good possibility.

Oh before I forget, there is also a little (very little) love scene with Seagal.

Peace and don't forget to support the site and order it here http://www.steven-seagal.net/forum/store.cgi?item_id=B0006VL1IS&search_type=AsinSearch&locale=us

hm.. thanks for the reviews.. i hope the movie has some action-scenes. i mean a good plot is important too, but im a seagal fan since the first movies, and i want see steven seagal fighting and shooting... i mean i don't want to see a 90 minute action movie with 5 minutes action...

Belly of the Beast and Out for a Kill had not a good story, but they had ACTION. Out of Reach was for me as a big Steven Seagal Fan a very bad movie... OOR was not "cheap looking" but it has not a lot a action, and if i were a director i would make AS MUCH ACTION AS I CAN because the true fans want see steven Seagal fighting, he's an Action Actor!

Hello hofmae my sentiments exactly though I was just dissapointed with OOR.I saw some of the making of ITS and the fights should look good.He is an action actor and it is impossible for him to show fear so he needs opponents so huge that he uses every ounce of talent.surely they could do better than fluro spiked hair 60kg yakuza henchmen. Think the twins from oceans 12!!??

DTD_Unleashed is bone breaking.

I hope there is plenty of the latter as the guy worryingly doesn't mention any of the bone-breaking I had hoped for.

If you want bonebreaking,go watch Jet Li's Danny The Dog_Unleashed. ;)

That’s very true :) This perhaps might be Luc Besson's third masterpiece. After Le Femme Nikita and Leon of course. Lately he stopped Directing and has been Producing and Writing but more mindless films. And while he isn't Directing this, as far as writing, this is the most dramatic piece he wrote since Leon. I think this will be it. Kiss of the Dragon had great potential, it’s a very good movie but just fell short a bit. Having the villain from Nikita was a nice touch "Welcome to France Johnny" Haa Same goes for the Fifth Element. So I have very high hopes for this, but I think it’s a very bad idea having Jet Li consider doing Leon 2. Jean Reno was Leon, and I don't think we need a sequel.

Just found Into the Sun (spoilers)

Hi guys,
Just found his latest movie and I have to say I loved every last second of it! I've posted a review up at IMDB though it probably hasn't surfaced yet. I don't want to go into too much detail as I don't want to spoil anything for anyone else but it's much better quality than his last few and is a lot of fun. Imagine Belly of the Beast minus the dubbing and doubles and you have something close to Into the Sun. The last 15 minutes is a terrific showcase of violent swordplay and is well worth waiting for. Not sure if anyone has yet mentioned it but he does also sing a song over the end credits - it's the first time I've heard him and he really does have a good singing voice! The version I found is a decent quality screener but naturally I'll be purchasing the real deal in a few weeks when it comes out. If anyone else has seen it let me know your thoughts guys.
Steve.
