ok, well now I have finally got round to seeing KS. There were a lot of faults with it (shoddy editing and bad, bad, bad, bad use of doubles) but for a strange reason I kinda liked it and I thought the music in it was top notch to the point of worth looking for an OST (yeah right!!!) - the less said about the ending the better my only real, real gripe would be the shooting scenes (been discussed) and the over use of editing (been disucsed) the use of doubles along with the editing (been discussed) the clown scene (been discussed - but would have been better with SS telling it) and the hammer scene (i am not in law enforcement but am fairly sure that SS would have been arrested himself after that little bit of DIY) but overall I liked it, not as good as UJ or PW but hell its better that FOF and AF so we are still on an upward curve in my book.

~~ Kill Switch ~~

Hello guys!

I watched Kill Switch yesterday, and all I can say is that it was very good! :) Kind of a action thriller...Yeah soo Seagal is back in the moove groove again! :D Think some of his unpoblished songs was in the film

I love this film and I am so glad to see that a lot of you guys like it too. There were problems with the editing as we know, and like the person from the company who did the final editing (ReagansCorpse) told us there were. He (or she) said Steven's version was more straightforward and subdued, but almost all of that had been recut, so I expected the repeat scenes and such. Still there is so much to like about it.

Despite the fight scene doubles, Steven (himself) was very good and so was Chris Thomas King and some of the others. I love Issac Hayes and will treasure Kill Switch more because it was one of his last projects before his death.

The music was good and I think they did well at capturing the Memphis atmosphere which I am very familiar with. I live near Memphis and have been there many, many times. I know Steven's Southern dialect bothered some people, but that's the way we talk. Honest. :)

The clarity of the movie was good and as a horror fiction writer, I enjoyed the story, especially the Zodiac killer part and would like to have seen that expanded.

I think the DVD will do well and that a lot of viewers will enjoy it.

Cngratulations, Steven

Cool Seagal Movie

Great the Hammer fight, the way he break the bad teeth and...good enough the other ones.

The plot and the script...fine, with a couple of funny lines.

The only thing I dislike is the repeat of the fall of the bad guy in the start of the film, but the C4 on the chest of the girl it´s a scary and very good idea and the funny lines after the fall of the bad guy are cool.(Bring him a glass of water...)

To finish: 3.5 of 5, at the same level of Urban/Renegade Justice and Pistol Whipped.

His best DTV movies, his 3 latest.Good, isn´t it?

Congratulations Steven, good movie!!

Most suspenseful scene:
The crime scene where the woman has the explosive connected to her chest.

Most uncomfortable scene (for me):
I have to go with Vern on this one. It's when Steven's character knocks the black man's teeth out against the bar. I'm from the South and, just as the Klan meeting scene in O Brother, Where Art Thou? was difficult for me to watch, this, too, cuts a little too close to the bone. (It's too realistic, and maybe that's what Steven meant to reveal.)

Best lines in the film:

"Storm, I think I dropped something."
-- Steven Seagal (Jacob) to his partner after knocking the killer Billy through the window.

"Does this taste funny to you?"
-- The cannibal in Chris Thomas King's (Storm Anderson) hilarious story about the clown.

is that a joke....there was no suspence in the film

you never once thought the SK were ahead of seagal and it was not helped by the fact both serial killers were about as scary as chevy chase

I thought Kill Switch was ok but I think it was a joke compared to UJ and PW. southbound I have to agree with rastafari there was zero suspense here.... but Chevy Chase is pretty scary! Id have to say that Kill Switch is as scary/suspenseful as a Uwe Boll masterpiece

lol I think Chevy Chase is pretty scary, too. :) But I'm going to have to disagree with you guys on the suspense part. I'm a professional horror writer and publisher. I've edited two anthologies and my poetry, fiction and articles have appeared in over 650 publications worldwide. (See www.joanturner.net and www.southernroseproductions.net). Writing suspense helps put food on my table. I will have to say that the average viewer will find the plastic explosive scene suspenseful.

That said, what anyone likes or dislikes in a film, song, book or anything else is highly subjective. We're all different and we view a movie with different expectations. You guys, I'm guessing, are Seagal fight fans, while I am more interested in the story. That's why I don't argue with what you say about it.
You are entitled to your opinion.

But a lot of us do like the film and I think Steven's version would have been even better.

you mean the scene where the womans got a bomb tied to her and for some reason the serial killer watching out of the window and also for no reason seagal happens to know where he is and also which wire to cut even though hes not a bomb expert...that scene summed up the film

Okay, I'll admit I knew the story before watching the film and the editing made some of the details a little hard to follow. Not Steven's fault. His original version was much more straightforward. This is what happened.

Billy Joe, the killer, kills for thrills. He is a psychopath and he lives to taunt the law. He WANTED to see them find his victim because that made him feel important and gave him a lot of satisfaction. That's why he changed his MO and left her out in the open. He was teasing them.

Either Steven or Chris (I missed which one noticed him first), but one of them saw him watching from a window across the street and said so. That's how Steven knew where he was. They saw him.

Steven also knew he was lying because he knew his profile. A psychopath takes risks and has no regard for human life. He knew Steven had him anyway and he had nothing to lose, so he told him to cut the wrong wire. Steven knew him well enough to know he would lie, so when Chris (Storm) told him they (the bomb squad down on the street) had it narrowed down to two wires, Steven took a chance -- but not a very big one -- and told him to cut the other one. I've seen variations on this in other stories, so it's not that unusual.

Billy wanted an explosion and death. He had nothing to lose, and Steven didn't fall for his lie.

it was just badly executed then

there were good points in the film

1.its had a good cinematography

2.had some violent scenes that looked like out for justice

3.the actors were better than the east Europeans from most recent seagal films

i hope ruslan is better than this though

by the way southbound have you seen seagals other new film called pistol whipped

The problem was in the second editing, rastafari. They played down important details that would have made the story easier to understand and added shots, like Billy falling through the window over and over, in an attempt to make the film more exciting, but that was just overkill. They should have played it straight like Steven wanted.

The last scene seems not to go with the movie because anything that might have explained it was cut out. Like Vern said, this was one of the poorest jobs of editing I've ever seen.

I haven't seen Pistol Whipped, but I'm looking forward to it.

KILL SWITCH was excellent

The film was a well made, well written, brilliantly acted piece of action cinema that had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.

THAT WAS WHAT I WAS HOPING TO SAY ABOUT KILL SWITCH.

Instead, everything was the opposite.

Kill Switch was a poorly made, horrendously written, shamefully acted piece of action cinema that had me struggling to stay awake. I would have fallen asleep if it wasn't for all the plot holes that I stayed awake to count.

How could anyone in their right mind defind this film??? It made his absolute shockers like Out of Reach amd The Foreigner look like Under Siege.

And to make matters worse, the film stole from other great films. The hooker being attacked after trying to help the killer with the baby in the car was a direct lift from the furniture moving scene in Silence of the Lambs and the device of King being framed by the killer was a ripoff of Glimmer Man - which deserved an Oscar for direction, screenplay, sound, music and everything else compared to this pile of crap.

Also, that sub plot was introduced and thrown completely out ten minutes later. It only existed to pad out the film's 96 minute running time, which felt like three frickin hours.

And the end!!! OMG -it made no sense whatsoever, other than maybe I thought that Jacob was living two lives out of guilt for the death of his twin and never told anybody???

Kill Switch is a kick in the groin to all the fans. When will Seagal work with people who know that action cinema isn't flashy camera tricks or crappy plots? We just want to see him smash things and people.

And no more accents. Please.

agree with you but i dont think its all seagals fault for once

i think he and jeff king did a cut which came in under time ie 85 minutes and millennium wanted it longer so added extra fight scenes and re-cut the film completely

i also hear that jeff king and seagals ruslan will be left as it is by voltage which i think is a good thing

Hard To Kill
I'd love to know what that ending was all about. Hopefully someone might ask Steven about it in an interview...that's if he's ever willing to discuss it.

Kill Switch: Initial Impressions

I was just able to obtain a copy of Kill Switch at Barnes and Noble this past week.
I have been looking for it since it's release and just found it.
I am about 15 minutes into the movie and this is my first impression.
I noticed that Mark Collie is in the movie. He was in Fire Down Below. Mark Collie is a Country singer and I actually like his song "Even the Man in the Moon is crying." Mark seems like a poor choice of a killer in a movie. Obviously I don't know him personally, but any man that can sing that song is a lover and not a fighter.
Speaking of Lovers, Steven and that Southern accent just kill me (no pun intended). My husband and I both grew up in the south and lived in various locations. I love southern accents and Steven's is more "fake ebonics" than true Memphis tough boy. If he ever wants to practice for another movie he can call me anytime but I suggest he don't try the Southern Accent again. He has a really sexy voice and the southern accent just doesn't fit him.
Writing and Blu-Ray...
In my opinion this movie is a poor choice for Blu-Ray. He will surely have a re-emergence in his career because he is so unique and talented. My impression is that he is just not concentrating on personal growth and is following a pattern for his movies. He's so creative he should make something more variety, music, comedy incorporating friends, he uses many of the same people in his movies. He needs to break out of the mold and be himself.
