Last Seagal movie you watched?

All this John Alexander talk and y'all made me go out and buy a new Blu-ray of Force of Execution. ;)
Just watched this one today and I like this one. Though Seagal wasn't in The Expendables 1 or 2, all the Action stars of the 80s/90s glory days got a revival; there was a pre-Expendables and post-Expendables era of Action films that resulted in marked improvements in quality of film as well as a generally better supporting casts to bolster the marquee value. Force of Execution and Maximum Conviction were two of Seagal's solid efforts of that post-Expendables Action revival.
I love that Ving Rhames plays a nasty, vulgar, wholly irredeemable villain.
As for Seagal, I think he does well playing a "grey" character, maybe an anti-hero if you will. He's charismatic when needed, he feels natural. As stated, he liked the role enough to return to the character in two more films. I was glad to see him doing his own fights and aside a couple shots, I didn't see hardly any use of doubles. Kudos to that.
And I feel this film set the tone for the type of the characters he'd tend to play for the rest of the decade. Troubled, reflective, a tad less righteous characters than normal.

Does Seagal get a good amount of screen time in this one? Might give it a watch sometime.

I just realized that Seagal's character in General Commander is called Alexander also. No way that is connected too. :D
WTF...Jake Alexander...and Jake is a diminutive of John!!! mega lol!! is a quadrilogy!!

Man, I leave the work of finding crazy connections between the 4 movies to our Special Ops Spy, John Alexander of this site (the only real one at this point)...it's too much info for my brain to digest this new addition to the Seagaliverse!!

Well, I watched Force of Execution, and while Seagal could have gotten a bit more screentime, I was overall happy with the movie. I thought the casting was good, with the role fitting Seagal really well, and the scenes where he does fight are really good. Overall, the plot was a little tricky to follow. I only actually figured out what was going on after the movie was done. That said, I was satisfied.

I rewatched Against The Dark on DVD today. I haven't seen that one in some time. Not really a Seagal film, his role is really just an extended cameo, and the character is very undeveloped. He just kills a lot of zombies and saves the day in good Seagal fashion. It's a decent DTV '00s zombie/infected Horror effort. I liked that Seagal gets to do a lot of sword work, that was cool. I always felt like Seagal wanted to do more Horror efforts and Submerged got changed at the last minute, then Attack Force got changed after the fact, so Against The Dark was him finally realizing a want to branch into some Horror.

Thanks, man! I appreciate it. It took some time to put together but it's pretty much done and I spend a lot of time down there. I love it.

And thanks about the D-Tox poster! That is a rare one, believe it or not. It's an early one sheet sent out to theaters around the turn of the century when it was still supported by Universal and planned for a Feb. '00 release. That never happened due to the reshoots, eventual sale of US rights to Blockbuster Video, and the name change to Eye See You (which Stallone wanted). But I've always had a soft spot for the film and felt a sadness that it was unceremoniously fumbled via fairly useless reshoots and then scuttled almost 2 years later.
Plus, being a Wyoming resident now, I felt it was only proper to embrace the film!

Rewatched 2004's Out of Reach today. I picked up a DVD of it for cheap when I was in Colorado this past week attending another one of Adrian Paul's (Duncan MacLeod of Highlander) Sword Experience classes thinking I might watch it while I was down there, but I ran out of time, so I watched it today. While I don't think it's one of his better DTV-era efforts (hate the voice-over stuff), I do find I like Out of Reach more as time goes on, especially the finale and locale. Both very cool. And I liked that the end fight isn't so one-sided, though Seagal always has the edge, his opponent is competent. I also love the end sword fight. I'm on a sword-centric Seagal kick right now so I'll probably watch Into The Sun, Marked for Death, and A Good Man in due time.

I re-watched "The Glimmer Man," last night. I first watched it in late 2019 but funny enough I remembered nothing about it, other then perhaps bits of the phone-call scene.

It's an odd, uneven mix, but ultimately more fun and better action than in Under Siege 2, which I re-watched last week. The black comic relief was a lot more annoying that movie too.

I thought the end fight was pretty cool.

Of course it would be fantastic to see the longer cut, but I doubt it'll ever happen. There's no love being shown for Segal movies with deluxe releases in the vein of Van Damme movies like "Double Impact."

Your wish (and mine too) has been granted! Arrow just announced today a deluxe, limited edition of Under Siege! Let's hope more of his titles get that treatment.

And I agree with you about the end fight ("If that's the best you've got then I'm just going to have to kill you.") is a good one. It's one of my favorites of his.

Good news to be sure. If it was ever gonna be one, it was gonna be Under Siege! I saw an interview with the lovely Erika Eleniak recently on youtube - I've liked for many years and not just for her obvious assets. She's a classy lady and speaks well of Steven, when it would be so easy to join the bandwagon of co-stars sharing weird and wacky tales of the man.
