PREMIERING WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 2ND AT 10PM ET/PT ON A&E WITH
BACK-TO-BACK EPISODES

New York, NY – October 20, 2009 - A&E presents “Steven Seagal Lawman,” a new Real-Life series that will chronicle martial arts expert and international film star Steven Seagal’s extraordinary life in law enforcement on Wednesday, December 2nd at 10PM ET/PT on A&E with back-to-back episodes.

Seagal’s movies have grossed more than $2 billion worldwide. He is an expert martial artist with a 7th-degree black belt in aikido. Along with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, he is considered one of the film industry’s greatest action stars. But it turns out that Steven Seagal isn't just an action hero in the movies. For almost 20 years, Seagal has been working as a fully-commissioned deputy with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office in Louisiana. In fact, in addition to going out on patrol, Seagal is an expert marksman who has worked with their SWAT team and has instructed Jefferson Parish officers in firearms and hand-to-hand combat.

“I’ve been working as an officer in Jefferson Parish for two decades under most people’s radar,” said Seagal, “I’ve decided to work with A&E on this series now because I believe it’s important to show the nation all the positive work being accomplished here in the New Orleans area – to see the passion, commitment and fine police work that comes from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in this post-Katrina environment.”
Until now, Seagal has never sought attention for his work with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. However, over a span of almost two decades, he has regularly gone out on patrol and worked major cases. Each thirty-minute episode will allow fans to ride shotgun with Seagal as he and his hand-selected elite team of deputies respond to crimes-in-progress. Then, when Seagal goes off-duty, the cameras will continue following him as he pursues his many ventures – including musical performances and philanthropic efforts – in Jefferson Parish and New Orleans.
Steven Seagal is best known for playing the invincible action hero character that defined his career in such films as Above the Law, Hard to Kill, Under Siege (1 & 2) and blockbuster hit Exit Wounds. He just finished shooting the new Robert Rodriguez film “Machete” which will hit theatres in 2010. Steven co-stars with Robert DeNiro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez and Danny Trejo. His familiarity with his signature roles stem from a long personal history with Eastern culture in both studying martial arts as well as practicing Buddhism. He is also a recording artist and guitarist, is founder of Steven Seagal Enterprises that markets his own all-natural energy drink “Steven Seagal’s Lightning Bolt” and is a dedicated philanthropist and activist for environmentalism and animal rights.

Steven Seagal Lawman is produced for A&E Network by ITV Studios (formerly Granada America) and Steamroller Productions. John X. Kim is the Executive Producer, Lucas Platt is the Co- Executive Producer, and Anna Geddes is the Series Producer for ITV Studios. Steven Seagal and Phillip B. Goldfine are Executive Producers for Steamroller Productions. Joe Halpin and Binh Dang are Producers for Steamroller Productions. Executive Producers for A&E are Robert Sharenow and Neil A. Cohen.

No release dates yet for UK showing, but no doubt it will be on UK television at some point. My bet is channel 5. :D

You will probably be able to buy it on region 1 DVD before it is out in the UK. ;)

I just seen new photographs/scenes of Steven Seagal's Lawman on A&E in Facebook where he was flipping an aikido student in the Jefferson Parrish police gym. Can these new photos be seen at Youtube now, does anyone know? I can't find it in youtube.com to view these new scenes as of this morning? Help?

Appears press kits have been sent out to the TV critics wrapped in tiny flack jacket packaging. Nice touch by A&E. Hopefully we will see some reviews soon from the various critics.

'Steven Seagal Lawman' press kit arrives wrapped in baby body armor

The A&E network reality series documenting actor Steven Seagal’s reserve deputy work with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office doesn’t debut until December 2, but advance publicity materials are arriving in TV critics’ mailboxes all over the country.

The “Steven Seagal Lawman” press kit delivered to the Times-Picayune arrived wrapped in a tiny branded flack jacket. Inside were a screener DVD ("It's no act," says the box) a disc containing several publicity stills from the upcoming series.

More about the episodes later.

Oh, OK: The premiere details Segal’s participation in a high-speed car chase, some movie-star schmoozing outside a local barroom after a troublemaker is rousted and Seagal’s efforts to impart ninja-style training techniques on the JPSO gun range.

Seagal is also worshipful of the “late, great Harry Lee,” whose idea it was to allow Seagal, identified on-screen as a reserve deputy chief, onto the force.

"For 20 years, Steven Seagal has been a deputy in the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, a job he's kept out of the limelight ... until now," reads the opening credits. "This program shows real people being arrested by real police officers. They are presumed innocent until proven guilty."

Here’s a sneak peek of some "Lawman" imagery making the publicity rounds, as well as a Press Kit Theater sequence unwrapping the package itself. Enjoy.

I asked RTL (the dutch network that will air Lawman) when it will be aired a couple of days ago. No asnwer yet.

This is starting to look like the project that will put Seagal back on track with mainstream audience. Who knows what it could lead too.

Peace

It would be great to make something in the style of Exit Wounds or at least something on the same level as Pistol Whipped.
