Lotussan's Poem for my Birthson!

I wanted to share this beautiful poem Lotus
wrote for me, for my birthson, who will be 18
this August 23rd. Though some people will not
understand why I adopted him out, Lotus always
did! And for that, she is one of my dearest friends!

To my dear birthson, you and I are still one,
with such a strong bond, even after all this time.
Never fear, dearest child of mine, even after all
this time, you've always been here in my heart!

And the feeling that a mother feels,
as it never fades, nor will it disappear,
because you are a part of me.

So my son, I want you to know that having to
part all those many years ago was so difficult
for me.

But I couldn't love you any less, and hope somehow,
you can understand that I had little choice;
Your spirit was with me, al this time dear child.
Don't you see, I have always loved you, and always
will, so very deeply!

Hey Kat-no one can put themselves in your place & make decisions for you. You are the one that has to make your own decisions & live with them. This is one that you probably made a long time ago & you still honor this day,because you are one that hasn't forgotten & will not ever forget(like some others that make such a decision quickly & never look back)

A very heartfelt poem indeed.It certainly does bring a tear to the eye.
It is obvious that you are a kind & caring(birth)mother,and the decision that you made(for whatever the reason)all those years ago was done out of love of the highest order.

That is very lovely, Kat. I know you were thinking of him even more over Mother's Day, but I know he's always in your heart. You will always love him, and I'm quite sure deep in his heart he knows that also.

Lotus--this sounds just like something you would do. You're a loving, sensitive person, and it's reflected in this, which you did for your love of Kat.

That is a touching poem. Kat, many people make hard choices like that. A friend of mine found her birth son a year ago.

My aunt adopted two of hers out, and they turned out to be lovely people...
I know I can't possibly know how it would really feel to give up a child but
I'm sure it wasn't easy, and for that I feel for you very deeply Kat...
I try to practice compassion the best I can, and I don't believe in abortions at all, so
I think you did the only thing you could have done in that situation...

I raised two children we adopted as toddlers and now sponsor two Tibetan orphans. I pray for the parents whose loss is my gain. Beautiful poem, beautiful thoughts. Thank you.

It has been a long and difficult road theses past
18 years. I have thought of him daily & loved him
always. I was an adult when I gave birth to him,
but being from a small town community, where
family names means everything, I did what I thought
was best. I was also a very different person then,
drinking, etc. It warms my heart to know that
people like Hallarian has adopted children. I hope &
pray he has wonderful parents. No, no one knows
what a decision like this does to your heart, not knowing
if he is happy, or loved, or even alive! I am not his mother,
nor will I ever be, but I hope to have a chance to explain
the reasons & circumstances surrounding his birth.
I want him to know I love him & have always loved him.
I have a stepson & stepdaughter. I have had then off and
on for 15 years. My stepson is the light of my life.
The love I have for him is so strong, I forget I am not
his natural mother. So I understand.
BTW Lotussan, I copied it word for word......
