Make me an instrument of peace

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love:
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

I was in St. Francis Baillica in Assisi just weeks before earthquake damaged several of the frescos in 1997. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to see them.

That was quite nice, KimonoSoul. :) Thank you for sharing that.

I think you already are! Thank you!

Aw shucks, Lollipop...that's nice of you to say! It's hard sometimes to show love to people who drive you crazy, but I try. I figure that's what they need the most.

I'm glad you all enjoyed the prayer. I like to share things that inspire me.

I did get to read Serena's poem, and I really enjoyed it! And no, Lollipop, you don't drive me crazy! I think you are pretty cool. I indulge in silliness whenever possible! I was referring to people who are (for lack of a better word) jerks who alienate people around them. Sometimes when you reach out to them they are still jerks. (A co-worker comes to mind!) So, I just say to myself "Help me show this person peace, love, and kindness so that they may spread peace, love, and kindness."

If only everyone would treat others as they would like to be treated, it would make life so much easier for all!
I over-indulge at times in the silly department, but sometimes you have to, to keep life
in perspective!
