Mercenary

This movie sounds like classic seagal along the lines of above the law and out for justice. I am excited for it.

I think that poster may be just a promo because seagal looks a lot different than he did in belly of the beast.

Seagal and the notorioius ...

It does have a good ring to it and it seems like it's going to be a good one.
There's just one thing (for now) - when they start using phrases like 'the most notorious drug lord in the world' that's what's bothering me. I mean the most notorious in the WORLD? Couldn't they be more original and creative with their promo? But I hope the movie will get made and is released here in Canada (unlike Belly of the Beast that's not going for sale here).

no belly of the beast in canada? that is a shame. it is a good improvement of "out for a kill" and is much more action packed.

correct - it IS a shame (and I can't do anything about it)

well, you can rent Belly of the Beast - so that's how I got my hands on it (for 2 days :=)
but once it's thrown from the shelves, no more BOTB in CND (unless you buy it elsewhere)

I bought my copy of BOTB from Amazon.ca. Interestingly, it was more expensive in Canadian dollars, than buying it from Barnes & Noble online with the exchange rate.

I note that my Blockbuster often sells "used" dvds, so I suspect once Belly is no longer a rental item, they might put it into the used dvd bin. I can't believe they'd just toss it without at least trying to sell the stock.

If they do make Mercenary, I hope to goodness they use actors we can recognize on the North American side of the pond, someone with some kind of pedigree even if they're only C-listed actors.

I'd like to see a change finally with the Mercenary at least...

They don't sell used DVDs that were STV in the first place. At Rogers Video I think the only used Seagal DVD I've seen was Above the Law, but it's probably because the movie is legendary relatively.

Note that there is also a change of director for this film.:(.Now you know I am not one to dwell on the negative, but this Steve Collins guy has only ever done 3 short films to date(they range from 3 mins to 26 mins).

Check the premise for this short film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0386497/

Interesting to say the least!:D.I wonder if this guy can actually handle an out-and-out action pic??.

The other guy who was set to direct(the guy that did Stallone's D-Tox & I Know What You Did Last Summer etc)was at least pretty well know.

Leon(Perhaps TD had a point after all).

You guys might be getting upset over nothing. If you read the Mercenary poster and the ACTUAL Action Kings page it says Steven Collins is the WRITER. The director has NOT been chosen yet, which is not to say it won't be him, but at this stage it isn't.

Nu Image

It doesn't look too bad but Nu Image are releasing it by the looks of it and they don't have a track record for excellent action films.

Hi,gunslinger!

The fact that the Action Kings site wouldn't come on for me may be a factor as to why I said what I said.I really hope it is still Jim Gillespie directing but I certainly won't knock the film until I have seen the film.

Peace,

Leon
