MIssing fight scene/move from THE PATRIOT

Has anyone else noticed the missing fight scene in THE PATRIOT?
Despite most films being cut post-preduction or added 'network scene filler' (especially SEAGAL's)
Whilst watching the trailer for THE PATRIOT, i noticed a brief scene of SEAGAL flipping over a military guy (this scene looks like it was filmed to follow SEAGAL, just after he'd jumped out of the window with his daughter, and just before his sidekick turns up in the truck?)
Has anyone else seen this scene (it's in the trailer) and i'd love to know more about why it was cut (given the lack of fight scenes in the movie!)

peace

This is interesting... one of many Seagal scenes that are in the movie trailers, but not in the movies themselves. Someday when I have time I'm going to catalogue all of them.

What it tells us is that there's a lot of spare footage either lying around that could go on a future DVD special edition, or (unlikely worse case scenario) destroyed.

I'll look into that. I have Region1 DVD of the Patriot, and the only scene that's missing from the movie as opposed to the trailer that I've noticed so far was the S.O.S. sign that one of the terrorists lays out after being too scared of the boss.

Scenes can be cut for a bunch of reasons, e.g. to keep running time down, keep the rating at a certain level (especially when it comes to trimming down violent/gory scenes).

But I don't get why they would cut out a few flips and martial arts moves...

Possibly it was SS himself shooting it but then changing his mind and deciding to tone down the violence in the film. I mean there is a message in the movie if you're willing to listen.

But who knows the reason, really?

Is there a trailer since this was STV? If so where can I view it? I don't recall ever seeing one, but think I saw/heard and advertisement in German once, hmmmm...

Fight scene

Well I doubt it was cut for rating reasons, especially as the 'R' didn't really matter since it was made for cable. Most trailers are made before films are finished hence the inclusion of stuff which didn't make it into the final cut. It could have been cut for a hundred different reasons, I doubt we'll ever know. It will no doubt linger alongside Marked For Death's throat chop as fight scenes which seem to be destined to lay forever on the cutting room floor.
