I`m a fan of Steven Seagals work for years now and i was wondering if anybody knows why he stopt making movies after the Patriot. He was away for a couple of years does anybody know why?
I think it was just a break for a while is this true?

Hi and welcome to the club Malerick.
Rumor has it that he stopt for a while because no movie company would work with him. It is said that he is a horrible actor to work with and doesn't always fulfill his obligations.
If you watch his later films (f.e. Out of Reach and Out for a Kill and Submerged) you can see that he indeed doesn't seem to put in any effort.
If it is true we will never know for sure because neither the companies nor Seagal gives any comment on the subject.

he's a pretty bad actor, doesn't mean I don't like him, but I'm not living in fantasy land.
and I don't know why he took the time off, but his career did just hit the DTV market and maybe he felt like he needed to take a break and start choosing better roles... he filmed Ticker next so my theory can't be correct.

Of course iam going to agree with Suzi ..iam intelligent..not nit picking at all the bad he has done how about saying some thing good about him...no wonder he doesnt give an horses ass about us its because of fans who always say negative things...its good you like him sweetchinmusic ..sorry i said "horses ass" ..its true though..

As you can read I said there are rumors about it and that we will never will know the truth.
I am a big fan and have all his movies on dvd and already got 2 in pre-order.
But also beeing realistic you will have to admit that his more recent movies don't have the juice they had before. Only exception in my view is Into The Sun.

Hi All...
I had read a while back why he, supposeldy, dropped out of the film scene for a while. According to what I had read (I wish I remember where I had seen this) he was instructed to quit making films by a Buddhist monk whom he was studying under. Following The Patriot he was set to make Bood On The Moon, and was contracted for a couple of other films at Warner Bros. when he broke his contract. It lead to some legal problems between he and WB, but apparently they were worked out by the time he did Exit Wounds.
Like I said, I read this somewhere, do not remember where. I am not totally sure on its accuracy, so I would be interested if anyone else has heard anything similar.

well nobody really knew why this pause happened (shy of media, focusing on personal issues? ..etc..)iguess only steven knows. i also took a break and i know it helped me get my life in order. so everyone needs to get prespectives on things. especialy someone who means so much to so many pepole.

My opinion is.... Im not happy with the fact that he uses stunt-doubles and so on, but im still happy that we've got all 2 months a new movie. other actors made 1 movie a year, or retires with 50 years, so we should be happy that he's still doing action-movies, and even if his body changes, his spiritual and special style will always be the same.
