My God Is Limitless

MY GOD IS LIMITLESS
~Lou Zaccardo

I've wondered, Lord, how it can be
you hear me when I call
I'm only one of millions,
and you love is over all

How can it be Your holy ear
is tuned to hear my cries?
How can you know what troubles me
and see the tears in my eyes?

Do I presume too much when I approach
You on Your sacred throne?
And dare to think that I can spend
some time with You alone?

sometimes I am so weary
I don't even want to pray
I feel confused-things look all wrong
I don't know what to say.

In quietness and confidence
I seek a place apart.
And rest until I feel Your spirit
touch my trembling heart.

Although I cannot understand
somehow I know You've heard
Like lovers who communicate
without a single word.

You are so great! I am so small
I'm glad it is this way
All things are possible with You
You hear me when I pray.

Great God of all the universe
in joy or in distress
I rest myself in all You are
for You are limitless.

~Lou Zaccardo

Some times i think that i am in a church when i read the bord here.
i come in a church so many times because i am an undertaker.
all the people are so hypocrite. They cry and they thank God for all the thinks He "have"done. But a week after the funeral you can`t find them no more in or round the church.
So What is the function of this man???
To take only our beloved family or parents or children??

I don`t trust that God anymore.

Why do you speak that people make there one choice?? Why do you belive in Him??? You make your one choice!!!

Connie,

I am sorry you feel so negatively about God. Jesus Christ loves us and wants the best for us. Jesus went to the cross for us because of his love for us. He wants us to be with him. (John 3: 16 & 17.)
Not everyone who goes to church has Jesus in their heart. Some people go to church only at Christmas and Easter. Why? I don't know. Some go only when they need God to "fix" something. Some go to church and profess to love God with all their hearts and don't show Gods love in their lives. I asked Jesus into my heart when I was 11 years old. I didn't want to tackle the trials in life on my own. I wanted Him in my life. I pray all the time that people would see Gods love eminate through my life. Does that make me a perfect person now? Absolutely NOT! I pray and ask for his help. He is faithful in answering. The answer is like a parent would give...yes...no...or wait.
I can speak from experience that not all people who go to church behave the way God would want them to. Sad to say, sometimes people who are regulars to church are crueler than the ones who never go. Why? Because since Adam and Eve in the bible sinned against God, there has been sin in the world. No one is perfect. No not one. Because of that sin...every man will someday have to die. All through time people are being born and at the same time others are dying. I still go to church. I lost my grandparents, my unborn child, my mother, etc. Yes, I miss them. I don't hate God for taking them. My mother died young. Am I mad he took her early. No. I do wish I could have had her in my life longer though.

As for the "choices" I mentioned. God gave man free will to make their own choices in life. Also the free will to choose God or reject Him. We are not puppets. God will not force us to choose him. He wants us to come to him on our own.
As Americas 16th president said, "If you look for the bad in others, you will find it every time."

I love Jesus Christ. I know he loves me...faults and all. I trust him; even when I don't like his answers. Gods ways are higher than mine. There have been things that have happened in my life I would consider bad...at the time. Later...I now know why God didn't answer the way "I" wanted Him to. Many of those ttrials have made me stronger. I am now thankful for those trials. I am thankful he doesn't always give me what I want when I want. Do you ever say to yourself...I wish I had done this...or didn't do that? God knows what is best for us. That is why sometimes the answer is not the way we want.

You are right. I did choose God. My choice. You get the same choice. You can accept him or reject him.

With love and respect,
Love,
Jules

I don`t reject Him. But i don`t want Him my live too.
And what adam and Eve have done is only love and to get childeren. It is not a sin.
I like it. Not to get childen but for pleasure. Is that a sin to have pleasure? I dont think so.
I think you are a jahova!! that are the only believers that do so much trouble to get souls in there church.
And when i wanted some answers i ask people to answer them for me other wise i go to the internet. or i go to a psychiatrist. or i find the answers in me.

But I hope you feel happy with God in your life. My opinion is do it yourself u be a better person.

Connie,

If you choose to not have him in your life, are you not rejecting him? I am not Jahova. Jahova is God. I am just another human being. I like to tell others about what Jesus did for us. God commanded in the bible that we tell others about him and his love for us. As for going to church. Not nessessary. There is a bible verse that says, "Where two or more are gathered in my name there will I be also."

Adam and Eve did not sin by reproducing or making love. (I find it pleasurable making love with my husband too.) Adam and Eve sinned when the ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. There was one tree in the garden of Eden that God fobid them to eat of. The serpent(Satan) decieved her and she ate...and so did Adam.

Why do you seem so angry with me? I was just speaking from the heart.

I did try to do things on my own. Sometimes I still do find myself trying to do things without Gods help. I find when I try to do them alone...I fall on my face( so to speak), trials are harder, more trials than nessessary, etc.

With God in my life I find that when I try to behave the way God would want me to, I am more compassionate, considerate, more love for others(including those who don't like me), I pray more for others reguardless of how they feel about me, etc...

The opposite of that would be better or much less of that? To me...to be a better person without God? Not likely. (I am speaking of ME only)

It was nice being able to talk to you. :)

With love and respect,

Love,
Jules

Connie,

Not necessarily. I can sense the presence (or absence) of God at points during my life, but what I feel to be God is not entirely aligned with traditional Christianity/Judaism/etc.

I accept what I feel to be God. I don't accept the God as seen through the perceptions of other people, people who often belong to religious cults. Because that's what religion is - a cult. I believe that religion was formed by men in Jesus' name, while ignoring the deeper truths Jesus lived and preached.

The fact that most people have an instinctual resistance to "religion" is not surprising - if anything, it is a reassuring sign that our internal compass of truth is still intact.

I am not Jahova. Jahova is God. I am just another human being.

I'm pretty sure Connie meant that you're behaving like a Jehovas Witness, a member of a religious cult with an annoying habit of going door-to-door and acting like they're holier than you while preaching that their way is the only way to "salvation" and if you don't accept their way, you're screwed.

That's nice - however you should also accept that other people's means of talking to God and understanding God (or Universe or whatever they may refer to it as) can be different from yours, and that does not necessarily make you right and them wrong.

I am a bible believing Christian. I believe the bible is the manual for our lives. ( like a manual on how to use something you purchased.)

"All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right."~ 2 Timothy 3:16

I can assure you I am not a Jahovahs Witness. I have had the experience of talking to them before at my door. I have discovered in conversations with them that parts of the bible mean nothing to them. (they don't believe or agree with what the bible says and admitted it to me.)

I too believe there are alot of religious cults. That is why I stick with the bible. I go to a non-denominational bible believing church where the bible is taught....cover to cover. No adding...no subtracting.

I like to stick with what Jesus said in the bible. For example: "Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had known who I am, then you would have known who my Father is." ~ John 14: 6&7. Another that talks about the trinity of Jesus is: Philippians 2: 9-11

I have always been taught and understood from reading the bible that we should have a personal relationship with God. Not just a 'feeling.' I pray and I know He hears me. I have seen his answers. He has spared my life and my husbands. I have had a burden to pray...and later found out at that persons life was in danger at that particular time. I have even been burdened to pray for my family. Only to discover it was Me (and my unborn child at the time) who's life was in danger. I have never seen a semi tip over that far without falling over ever before.

Jesus is my compass, my guide, my best friend. No other has ever been as faithful. "your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my paths." ~Psalms 119:105
I trust Him. "For the word of the Lord holds true, and everything he does is worthy of our trust." ~Psalms 33:4

Many times when I talk about God, Jesus, Gods love, the bible, I get alot of hostility. No surprise. Jesus said, "When the world hates you, remember it hated me before it hated you. The world would love you if you belonged to it, but you don't. I chose you to come out of the world, and so it hates you." ~John 15:18-19.

I find it ironic that if a person talks about God and the bible, they are considered getting preachy and self rightous. But when any other religion is mentioned, they are not. Maybe that is also why I found the above bible verse.

I have been digging more and more into Gods word the bible because I want to learn more about God and what he wants for my life. The more I read, the more I learn about Gods love, his truths, how much he loves me...

"If I...can fathom all the mysteries and all the knowledge...but have not love, I am nothing." ~ 1 Corinthians 13:2
"And this this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best."~ Philippians 1:9-10

Shihonage, You mentioned that,"I believe that religion was formed by men in Jesus' name, while ignoring the deeper truths Jesus lived and preached." What parts may I ask, do you believe were ignored? When men form religions that are away from Gods word...I believe it is because it(the bible) pricks their heart and they don't want to see it. (my assessment) We like to live the way we want. Get there our way. "We just want to have fun." I know. I have been there. I still struggle with giving up the wheel of my life. I still have MANY shortcoming. Always will. That is why I keep going back to Gods word. I mess up....and then it is "Okay God....I messed up. Now what do YOU have planned for me." When It should have Him first. Kind of like: "Okay Dad...I guessed I had to learn from experience instead of listening to you first." Oops.

I am no better than the next person here. Just a person saved by grace. Not by anything I have done. If we could be saved by what "We" do ourselves....people would be able to boast. Salvation is a gift from God when He sent is son Jesus to die on a cross for our sins only to rise again. The bible tells how to be saved. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast." ~Ephesians 2:8-9 and this sums it up well for me: "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." ~Galatians 2:20
Here we are at Easter time again. I can't help but think about what God did for me. His love for me and the world. To send his Son into the world for us. "This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." ~ 1 John 4:10
We must be worth alot to him for God to do that for all mankind. No one can give salvation but God. I can't give it. The bible tells us how to receive salvation. I could sit here and say what I think in my words but my words mean nothing. To believe God, His Son Jesus, the bible, His love for us...is something each of us has to decide for ourselves.
Wether we embrace Him is up to us. We can accept him or reject him.

God: Here is the wheel of my life. Love, Jules :)

Shihonage, You mentioned that,"I believe that religion was formed by men in Jesus' name, while ignoring the deeper truths Jesus lived and preached." What parts may I ask, do you believe were ignored?

I believe that the concept of religion is a false start. It is not about how people interpret what Jesus said, its about the human tendency to create a closed-minded cult out of everything.
Life is what is supposed to be lived according to Higher Principles. Not religion. Religion is an alien concept, a useless science of interpreting what is written in holy books as plainly as possible.

Sunday churchgoing - an empty ritual for people who then go back to beating their wives. If they truly had integrated Biblical teachings into their lives, they wouldnt' need to drag themselves and their kids to church every Sunday.

I have always been taught and understood from reading the bible that we should have a personal relationship with God. Not just a 'feeling.' I pray and I know He hears me. I have seen his answers.

So have I. I have a personal relationship with God, but it is somewhat different from yours. Yet somehow you imply that yours is superior to everyone elses who does not share your exact viewpoint.

I believe in actions instead of words. God meant for us to live this life (or incarnation, if you believe in such) here on Earth, with out feet on the ground, instead of constantly having our heads in the clouds. There's a Russian quotation - "Hope/rely on God's help but row for shore".

I have to admit I am floored and appalled at your reply.

It is obvious we have two VERY different beliefs. I never implied my beliefs were superior. I just shared what I believe. Then you proceeded to attack mine and trash it with slanderous opinions. Trust me...my head is not in the clouds just because I believe in a living God and his word(the bible.)

Do you think you would be offended if someone came on here and mocked your beliefs, altered it and made it sound as if what they were saying was fact? I will not belittle your beliefs. That would be rude and insensitive. I prefer to just share what I believe. You can compare it with what you believe and make your own choices.

You are right. Man has made many religions. But...the bible talks of only ONE God. There are numerous verses on that also. Example: Isaiah 46:9 Look and decide for yourself.

I too believe actions speak louder than words. I have seen Gods action with my life, answered prayer, etc. Not just reading his promises in the bible. I also have no intentions of staying here on earth when I die. There are NUMEROUS bible verses that speak on life after death also. You can read and decide on that also.

Arguing would be a mute issue. We can each read the bible and decide for ourselves what we think. We can accept it...or reject it. You decide what you feel is right. God gave us free will to choose. We are not puppets.

With love and respect,
Jules

Jules, it recently occurred to me that this wasn't posted in a General forum but a subforum which is specifically geared toward discussion of religion.

The reason I lashed out at you is because I got the impression from
a) the fact that your post appeared when I clicked "New Posts"
b) Connie's reacting to it like it was in a General forum (which was probably caused by a) )

that you were basically doing religious preaching in a General forum.

Usually Internet forums keep the controversial topics like Religion and Politics out of the view of mainstream visitors, to avoid exactly this type of misunderstanding.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience I caused.

Apology accepted. No hard feelings. :)

I just couldn't figure out why sharing poems of a religious nature, and responding to another persons post could cause a fire storm if I was only talking about my faith as everyone else does on this section of the forum.

Connie,

We all post where we feel incline to do so or where we have most interest. As you probably have noticed that this thread is in a spiritual section because it is of a spiritual nature. I have more threads I fully intend to post soon in this section when I have enough time on the computer to do so.

I like to read and post in most sections. I know little or nothing of martial arts. I don't know what to say there except that I like watching Mr. Seagal in action with his martial arts.

When I first came to this forum there was only Buddhist religion posts. I believe everyone should be able to post in this section without being driven out because someone doesn't want to hear what a particular faith has to say. (I'm not saying that either of you were trying to drive me out or anything.) There has been hostility here in the past. As you have noticed...I am not a Buddhist, a Jahovah Witness, etc. A bible believing Christian, yes. Craig has this as an open forum and I do hope it stays that way. :)

I origionally posted the poem because I liked it. I found it in my mothers bible I inherited and wanted to share it with everyone. :)

"I don't look for trouble...I try to avoid it."~The Rifleman:)

You had posted here so I assumed you wanted to talk about the poem. I am sorry it upset you. Craig has it where you can block the 'further off topic sections" if you chose to not read them.

With love and respect,
Love, Jules :)

I think we have to remember that since the fall of man in the garden of eden when they sinned against God man has had to face death. No one since then has lived forever except Gods own Son Jesus. Man tried to kill Him, but he rose again after three days. No one else has ever done that.

A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ. A person who comes to the church and then leaves is probably someone who has lost faith and trust and is still searching for answers.

We all have lost loved ones. I know some day it will be my turn too. Circle of life.
John 3:16&17

I found a spiritual poem. Not sure where to put it so I am putting it on this thread.

THE UNSEEN PRESENCE

GOD hath not promised skies always blue,
Flower-strewn pathways all our lives through;
God hath not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.

God hath not promised we shall not know
Toil and temptation, trouble and woe;
He hath not told us we shall not bear
Many a burden, many a care.

BUT God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labor, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing sympathy, undying love.

~Annie Johnson Flint
