Seagal will portray a special forces operative who — frustrated with the bureaucracy of war — goes rogue and tries to exterminate terrorists being protected by the government.

This sounds much like Foreign and Domestic.

If this is real, then it could be the most exciting news in years.

FAD was wrtten by Michael Winnock and this says written by Seagal so I thinks its different

I hope he gets a decent director has its not often seagals get this kind of budget

Dont forget Taken cost 25M so alot can be done with that kind of budget

Also the production company backing this did Machete,Machete Kills,Sin City 2 so they do make cinema films rather than STV films

I highly, highly doubt the budget is that high, that's like five times ore more the usual Seagal DTV budget.

Unless they attach some additional big names, I'm assuming this is just usual promotional stuff with inflated budgets like they do when selling movies.

Machete and Machete Kills did receive theatrical releases, but they both had budgets around $10M.

They did but Sin City 2 Cost 20M

I dont care about the budget anyway more the shooting times Im bothered with...I just hope it gets at least 30-40 days rather than the 20 days he usually has

I think it would be great if the budget infos are true, but we have to wait and see...
I agree the shooting time is important too, I always thought 3 weeks is way too short.

At the moment it looks like the next weeks and months will be very interesting for Seagal fans.

Well, he did write the story for "Above the Law", and that turned out ok.

He didn't write 'Above The law'.....he added a few bits and demanded a writing credit;
he also co-wrote season 1 of 'True Justice', so that can tell you it can go either way

The budget could be possible. Look what Dolph Lundgren did with Skin Trade. They had the same budget (if I am correct) and they shot for 2 months

I had a look and Skin Trades budget is 9M according to IMDB

Also although i dont think Seagals a good writer BTRH anyone....I think season one of TJ was alot better written than season 2 which seemed to go all over the place

Season one at least was easier to follow that said id rather this be someone else script

How about getting Roel Renie to direct...he seems to be stuck doing STV sequals with FOX but if he was given 15M plus budget he would be interested

Absolutely agree about TJ. The first episode of season 2 was pretty good, but after that it goes downhill with weird stories. I also prefer Steven to see as a police detective instead of a undercover agent. Maybe that’s because I like classic police series like “The Mentalist”.

Roel Reiné could be a good choice, although it seems that Reiné works mostly with much lower budgets nowadays. According to his audio commentary of the entertaining “Seal Team Eight” (which was filmed in 3 weeks), the movie cost the half of “Death Race: Inferno”, and that one had a estimated budget around 6,5 million according to imdb. I think it has a lot to do with his directing skills that people always think his movies have higher budgets than they actually have.

Seagals movies probably had about the same (if not higher) budgets, at least according to imdb. That’s why I am always saying Seagal could anytime try to work with Reiné again.

Of course “Cypher” could be very interesting for Reiné, but if the budget rumors are true they maybe can get another skilled action director who works in a 15-25 budget range and fits with the style of a Seagal movie? Although I actually realize that this list of fitting directors probably is pretty short? Any ideas?

Well the Production team behind this worked with Renny Harlin last year so maybe a Seagal/Harlin team up

Harlins not what he was but hes a stonger director than Waxman and Co

Yes, although they probably don't have other infos right now.

Hopefully there will be more news about the movie the next weeks.
