Now im getting angry...

..about Steven.

Now its enough. I hate to read in every interview that Steven bashes his own movies. Its absolutely unfriendly.

1. When he hates these movies he should NOT MAKE THEM. Its a long time only about money, and it really looks like that he has no fun making movies.

2. He always talks about "Music is more important" "Music is my first love" blabal. But until about 2001 we didn't hear anything about his music. I didn't read a single line in an interview about his music, and since the last few years he's only talking about his music, and that its so much better than his movies. But seriously, without his movie career, he would sell not more cd's than any amateur band out there (even if i like his music), he only can sell the stuff because he's an actor.

Im really disappointed as a fan that buy's he's dvds. He's really getting unprofessional and unfriendly to his fans that are still in charge of his paycheck. (I wouldn't want to count the dvd's and cd's he can sell if we die hard fans would stop buying these stuff).

So thats it.

regrettably i dont think he cares, if no one bought his stuff a true musician doesnt really care, music really is for the individual who creates it.

its good that he addresses the reason why his films have been so bad, but i dont like the fact that he slams his upcoming films just like that-i would have thought hed have the sense to do something good after Attack Farce.

at least Jules Nasso gave Steven a kick up the backside when things went pear shaped, right now Seagal only has the yes men around.

I like Steven Seagal's self-criticism, it shows honesty
I like that !

But why does he still making movies when he hates them? And on the other side he said in an interview he get some ideas that even can win an oscar, or get a theatrical release, but he doesn't start this projects, his only starting this small dtv projects because it isn't much work and he can earn a lot of money in a short amount of time.

im still a great fan, but this really cracks me up, because I ALWAYS BUY HIS STUFF, and so it makes me angry that he doesn't care about the quality.

I agree hofmae,

when I visited this site I wasnt much of a fan, dont enjoy the movies very much, but when i read somewhere that 'music eas his first love' as a musician myself and a blues fan I was curious, ok we can get technical about the music but on the face of it I enjoy it and so I bought tickets to a couple of local concerts, after reading all the reviews and reading the fans comments on this site I am starting to wonder if I have done the right thing, feel very disheartened by the reviews and the strength f seeing him just from his movie based career isnt a very strong pull I have to say, never mind

Seagal's got more than enough money to finance his own movie. If he really wants to make POP or GK, he should make them. The point is he DOESN'T have to put up with making movies so crap. There's plenty of decent producers and companies out there who'll give him more freedom to make better movies. Lundgren and Van Damme have always got companies knocking on their door, so Seagal should. It's him picking the lamest of the lame to work with. He also almost always has a producing or writing credit too. He could be doing a lot more to make sure he's not getting the shaft in his career. Lundgren turned the course from working with those types of money mad cretins, Seagal should. He's never liked acting much, but why doesn't he do some directing? And it smack's of hypocracy for him to complain about these films and the guys making them, good or terd, because he get's paid 5 million dollars each film. You don;t bite the hand that feeds you. His music career is a money loss to him. He can't make a profit on it, because he won't sell enough CD's, even with his diehards. So essentially his ****ty movies are paying for his musical career. Crap or not they give him the time to make, and release his albums.
I agree with the Hof, it's frustrating to see him complain like that about a situation he could quite easily move away from. I feel he should be asking fellow action stars about the best companies to work for, but it seems he's alienated all of them in the past.

i think in interview that once upon a time in the hood was a contract obligation and when asked about sony he said its the last film hes making with them.in a way im glad as he had prince of pistols lined up with screen gems and unless its a horror film screen gems dont usually release it to theates.im hoping he trys paramount or new line as he has not worked for these before and maybe has not burnt his bridges with them yet.

Seagal might be able to finance a movie on his own, but that wouldn't necessarily mean that he'd be able to get a good distribution deal for it. You need the right connections and skills to put something like that together, and I can see why somebody might be a little intimidated what's required. Also, a lot of the people who run the distribution game right now would consider it a threat if the major action stars started providing their own funding, cutting them off from a big part of their profits.

It's more than likely, though, that Seagal doesn't just have thirty million dollars lying around for him to do whatever he wants with it. When somebody has that kind of money, it's usually tied up in multiple investments, the kind that pay off in the long run but don't offer much access to the money in the short run.

I totally agree with you here, though. If he would just get in touch with the right production companies, all sorts of possibilities could open up.

I have no doubt's, Seagal could get a distribution deal in a heart beat. He's got his own production company, so he should go through like that. Lundgren had to find his own distributors for Missionary Man. It's evident too that Seagal has finally finished his contractual obligations with Sony, Castel and Nu Image. That's good. Sony and Nu Image have departments that aren't that bad, but seemingly Seagal picked the worst producers, like Andrew Stevens. I don't think he'll ever sign a multi picture deal again. I also can't see himdoing another movie unless its POP or GK.

I'm glad that deal is finally over so he can make the great movies he says he can make. But I agree that he shouldn't have said those comments like he did. As someone who buys everything he puts out, I would like to realize I wasted my $25 after I bought the movie (due to dubbing, etc.) rather then going into the store knowing it's going to suck. He could have said it in a different way such as "the movies aren't the quality my fans expect but I can't control it" or something to that effect. In regards to him being unfriendly to fans, I disagree with that. I had the opportunity to meet him and he was very kind and polite, allowing me to take a picture with him and after telling him I have all of his movies and drove 8 hours just to meet him, he said thank you very much, I appreciate it.

Cool that you met him. But i think the reality is, he just said that. Because if HE would care about his fans, he wouldn't make this crappy movies. And the actual Deal is only Keusch (3 movies), but it wasn't really better before. Sure, he's a nice and cool guy, no doubt, but i think if he really likes his fans then its absolutely bad if you bash your own movies that much, and if you say everywhere that music is your love, and your a musician and so on. Without his fans and his movies, nobody would listen to his music, thats the truth.

Friends,

Please don't be sad and angry and please don't loose your hopes.
I believe Steven is very smart man and he knows what he is doing.

---------------------------------------------------------
From his new interview :

"* Now that your music career is well established does this mean you have given up on films or will you continue to pursue both?
No, I love both of my careers and will continue to perform in both. I see my future split between the two mediums.

*How many movies have you made to date?
I have just finished filming my 33rd action film and when I finish this European leg of my world tour I will start on my 34th."

----------------------------------------------------------

I hope these words will be answer our problems..

Take care

suzi

Yes you're absolutely right Suzi, he needs us! Because without this group of fans he can't do anything (his films will always come on TV and people will watch) but we are the main and important group! We are here to support him by watching his movies, listen to his music, go to his concerts (if they are available in the country you live), etc.

But I also understand Hofmae, he is also right! Because this period, you don't really know what Steven is planning... Does he only want to go to his musician side or does he also want to go to his actor/film side and make GOOD quality films! That's still a doubt for me and many other people!!!

But I'll always support him and believe in him!!! No mather what he does!!!

Now I hope he comes to my country for a perfomance and ROCK my country :D

take care everbody

greets take-sensei

The movies and the rest...

Hiya !

To my opinion, for sure, there are great movies from Steven and not so great movies...

I don't really mind...

Just love to see the big man kicking some butt in whatever movies he's doing and I am just enjoying watching him...

Don't get me wrong guys and girls...
I repeat...There are some great films, good films and okay films, but I still enjoy them 'cause Steven is brilliant ...

Like you , I can't wait for another blockbuster such as Under Siege ( bearing in mind my favourite movie is 'Fire Down Below') , but for now, I am just glad Steven Seagal is pro-active and doing stuff for us to look at, watch, listen and debate on this website...

I prefer to be that way rather than see a movie star or singer you follow doing nothing for years and years and years.

At least Steven is keeping going and trying hard and I don't think he has let us down the fans.

Soon, by perservering hard, he'll reward us with a top class action movie but for now, I am just glad that he keeps going and going and hope that he'll keep at it for the next 10 years at least.

A hero never dies !

Just my take on this,

Much love and energy to you all,

Steven Seagal is responsible for introducing me to a path in life which i never believed possible. This I will always be grateful for. I am aware that he is a human being, like the rest of us, and therefore has flaws, makes mistakes, etc. Nobody is perfect. As true fans, most of us will support what he chooses to do, through thick and thin, even if that means being dissapointed from time to time. I still believe that he tries his best, in whatever he does, under whatever circumstances. I have always had the impression that Steven Seagal has no time for bulls##t, and the movie or showbiz industry is full of it. He`s always seemed uncomfortable being involved in it, but does it, I believe, to reach people and to get a message across to as many people as possible. I believe he truly wants to make a difference in this world, and if only one person becomes a better human being because of him, then he has done what he set out to do. So, KEEP ON MAKING FILMS, STEVEN! It won`t be the same when there`s no new Seagal film to look forward to.

All the best,
Dragonking.
