I really did...
He's so unique and it shows, and the plot wasn't so scattered...
Also lots of action, so hopefully that will please all the guys...
I am going to watch it with the folks later, but I wanted to do a solo first so I could drool in peace...
oops!
Errr, I mean so I could concentrate in peace! :D
Just kidding....
Maybe...;)

I'm really glad to hear you liked it, Lotus. I didn't expect anything else. :D And I have to honestly admit here and now that I would love a Steven Seagal movie if he just sat in a chair and breathed. Yes, I confess. I'm one of THOSE women. I don't care if he doesn't break one bone, I don't care if there's not a drop of blood, I don't care if there's no car chase scene, and I REALLY don't care if there's a hot babe in it (actually, would prefer NOT to have one). ;) So, that said, I'm hoping to be able to watch it tomorrow, but I know already I will give it 5 out of 5 stars. :)

I agree with Glimerman

Well! I've been a fan of Seagal's films for a few years.

I rented Out For a Kill last Sunday on my video store here in Dominican Republic, and I found it so boring, I finish watching it today, because I had to return it to the video store.

Well, everyone have different tastes for movies. The Seagal's movies I like are the oldest ones. Market for Death, Hard To Kill, Under Siege1,2 , Out for justice, and I think Seagals latest movies have come to his lowest qualities.

I was very disappointed with Out For a Kill. When I thought Seagal's worst movie was The Patriot, then he came with Ticker, then The Foreigner, and now this one, Out For a Kill.

To finish my comment, I agree 100% with Glimmer man review, and I blame to persons for this garbage of movie, the Director, who should put a stone in his neck and jump from a bridge, and Steven, for taking this movie.

I'm losing my faith in you Steven... Hope to see the other you someday.

God Bless!

Pedro.

I think it's foolish to want the movies of old...
That was then, and this is now...
Just a thought...

A very good thought, Lotus. Now I know you love him any way, any where, any time, Lotus. ;) But I'm interested in your honest opinion. Do you prefer the younger, skinnier, higher-pitched-voiced Steven in his older movies, like Above the Law and Out for Justice, or do you prefer the more mature, sexier, rugged, huskier-voiced Steven of today? I without a doubt prefer the Steven of today. Maybe it's because I'm growing older right along with him, figuratively speaking, of course. I wish I was literally growing older beside him! :) Just curious about your opinion.

Come on, TD. In this day of modern technology, surely there must be some way we can put the DVD in our computer or hook up our DVD player to the computer and have you watch it along with us, isn't there? :) (Now I know my technological ignorance is showing, but, really, isn't there SOME way?) If all that fails, I'm only about five hours from Toronto. What are you doing this weekend? ;)

What am I doing this weekend, hmmm....

Oh, yes. Trying to pull together an awards ceremony for the convention happening over the Labour Day weekend, with so far no emcee, no presenters and my division head AWOL because she's got to finish an essay for school before the end of the week (and I can't do anything, even send out the invitation for the emcee, without her prior approval).

I have to hunt down publishers to ask for permission to reproduce their nominees' publication covers, and sponsors to beg/plead/threaten for money to pay for the reception.

I have to buy a membership for the convention (what, you think they're paying ME to do this work? Nuh-uh. I still have to fork over $275 for the privilege of running the ceremony.). I have to buy a decent frock for this affair. I have to buy a decent pair of shoes to go with said frock.

I have to get my head examined for agreeing to do this task in the first place.

I have no hair left on my head, from pulling out great horking handfuls of it on an hourly basis. I note I am also grinding my teeth in my sleep, and I wake up each morning with a stiff neck and a sore jaw. There are holes in the wall shaped like my fist, and the houseplants tremble every time I walk past them, for fear they will be the next to intersect with said wall.

I have eleven days to pull all of this together.

I'm supposed to be reducing my stress levels (according to the doc), not increasing them.

-TD, Out for a Kill, and it ain't the movie I'm talking about now, baby

P.S. Thanks for the invite! <grin>

I kinda agree with both Leon and Glimmer..My favourite fight scenes were the swordfight with the monks and the fight right after that in the restaurant..The fight with the little monkey guy was too fakey for my taste and he was just flying around the room and on the wall and Seagal's body double was too visible in this fight as well..
I also hated the directing of the film as it went from one scene to the next and the fight scene with the big guy was way too short..I like the line that Seagal said though--Hey you ASSHOLE..I just thought it should have been a little better and longer fight than that..
Seagal did come across as uninterested and bored at the beginning but the fights were better in this than his last few STV movies but still not up to par except for the swordfight scene..

What was that fight with monkey man all about, a parody of crouching Tiger hidden dragon?
I liked the way Steven was fighting while he was sitting, LOL...
That's a new one...
I just watched it with my parents, they liked it, too...

No young skinny ones for me, thank-you very much...:)
I prefer him just as he is...
He's intense, he's accomplished, he's rugged, he's mature, and he's oh so sexy...
That is my honest opinion...
I think my parents are growing a little tired of my declarations of admiration...:D
But they know just how I really feel...
Now, all I need is to someday meet this man...
I would really like to tell him just how incredible he truly is...

They're not the only ones...

As for it being 'foolish' to want the days of old back (when Seagal actually made good movies), personally, I think it is foolish to like a movie for the simple fact that Seagal is in it. More than foolish - I think it is sad. I have said many times before, there is nothing wrong with criticism of his movies and if it were anybody else in the starring role (such as Dolph Lungren or another one of the 'B' movie actors), you would say it is a load of crap and rightly so. I liked Seagal in the movie and I thought the fight scenes were decent, but that was about all - the movie itself was a terrible piece of film-making and a waste of a good idea.

Mike - in your copy was there the same problem with the computer noises/location details? I am thinking it may just be a problem with the region 2 disc...

Glimmer - it was the same problem in my region 1 disk as well. This movie was crap. Direction: CRAP; Dialogue: CRAP; Editing: CRAP; Pacing: CRAP. That director can not put together a movie. Very unprofessional. I especially like the part where Seagal was giving his 'acceptance' speech, and you can tell it was later dubbed in, and THEN they show him talking, and his mouth doesn't match the words ! Just like those old Japanese godzilla flicks. Some of the fights were too much like TICKER - fast, poor cuts, didn't see the fights too clearly; and too much of the same old tricks of playing patty cake and using same cuts over and over in fight scenes to make it longer - like in FOREIGNER. And what about this stupid, too long beginning ? That women later is in the same place, and no mention of what happened earlier at the beginning ...

Good parts ? Fights (when it wasn't his stunt double) and topless women....
;)

Yep, it was the same in my copy as well..I also thought the editing of the movie was pretty poor..It definately had the Oblowitz movie feel to it..
