This is a movie, not aikido seminar !! He is not only Aikido teacher he is action star as well !! Everybody know that Steven Seagal is a 7th dan Master of Aikido !! What he will prove ??? He is playing in the movie and he mixed all of them, good action, movie and his aikido !! Where is the bad???

I liked HPD...But other than that, his latest films ever since The Foreigner has been like going to a familyparty as a child, and keep asking you'r parents when it was time to go home, becouse it is so boring.

The problem with his movies now a days is that there is not enough Aikido in them. The scripts are so pathetic that even a 3 year old could write them.

Into The Sun is the first movive in a long time that I actualy feel might do SS some good. Let's just hope that the script is as good as the idea of the movie and storyline is.

If anyone is interested in a blow-by-blow, Television Without Pity-style recap of Half Past Dead please surf to my Steven Seagal website.

I spent more time than I should putting together this thing, with Seagal in-jokes, movie references, screencaps, etc. You can find it under Films/Half Past Dead/Recap.

Be warned, you'll have to invest some of your time in reading it.

Alternatively, I could post it here, but I haven't figured out how to get images in-line with the text. doesn't seem to do anything for me![/QUOTE]As far as the images, Craig has disabled that function at this time, so as to prevent hotlinking to other sites. We can use attachments, though.

I will check out that recap of Half Past Dead! I have an offbeat sense of humor myself. ;) Thanks for the link! :) btw--You may also want to place this in your introduction thread, as I'm not sure how many will see this here.

Ja Rule Helped..

I think I am going to give this film another chance tonight, I think with the presence of Ja Rule, this makes the film a little bit more on the edge, it is not a great film but not a bad one either..

Incarnation complete
Although critics said this movie was for muppets I tend to not agree. I liked Death warrant better

Half Past Dead

I thought it was very entertaining!! I have now seen it about 20 times! JA Rule and the other supporting actors helped. I love music and I thought the music added alot to the action scenes!! I wanted Lester to live! I new he would have to die, but I liked his character!

I did think Half Past Dead was entertaining but there were no good action scenes by Seagal. We missed his trademark Martial Arts choreographed scenes, the fight cordinator was Art Camacho and honestly I could choreograph better fight scenes than Art. Art has coreographed all of Don Wilson's movies, but Art is just a dull fight coreographer.

i thought it was a great movie...sure under seige and exit wounds r right at the top but...so is this one....its a great movie by seagal i dont know what ppl's issue is...great actors a great story line. ja rule and kurupt does a great job actually all of them did a great job
i was particulary impressed by seagal's stunts in this movie...it seems like he did a LOT more stunts u actually see him/his body swinging on the chain....its heaps good he does a lot of his stunts. i think the movie was made well...the idea was made well..

first time i watched it i though it twas great.....i just bought the dvd and loved it again..
i know he can still make movies like this all he has to do is lose a little weight and get into the right kind of movie
i really cant see much bad stuff apart from there wasnt enough of his aikido moves in it it was more kicking and punching but a truely great movie...not his best but its right up there with his best
8.9/10

im really supprised with everyone who didnt like it at all and ppl who think into the sun was better jeez none of the actors apart from steven himself could actually act especially the asians they were one of the worst eva especially when they spoke english

Every action star goes to prison at some point and in HALF PAST DEAD it's Seagal's turn. The film has a polished MTV look, but the plot is nothing special --being a collection of clichés from other prison-set action vehicles (all that's missing is the sadistic governor).

Copying EXIT WOUNDS and partnering Seagal with a rapper again may have seemed like a good idea, but the feeling when watching is that Ja Rule and his relationship with Seagal's character isn't as interesting as the one between Boyd and DMX in the earlier film. Ja Rule and the other characters are annoying rather than entertaining.

I'd rather Seagal had more screen time, but he doesn't seem at all interested. He kind of mumbles his way through the film and looks embarrassed throughout his "banter" scenes with Ja Rule. Contrast this with his stuff with Damon Wayans in GLIMMER MAN, where he was having some fun.

The action is pretty routine, with the two pistol/machine gun jumping around stuff looking like the sub-HK stuff it is with Nia Peeples seeming like she failed the audition for the Michele Yeoh part in the Bond flick. None of the action is staged with originality or panache, with Seagal getting to display very little of his martial artistry and, when he does, it doesn't look convincing at all.

The film is an improvement over TICKER (the worst Seagal film I've seen). It's slick and mindless, but it's all rather empty and unsatisfying.

Next up: THE FOREIGNER....

It's a funny thing, that on the dutch version of imdb (www.moviemeter.nl) this movie gets a higher rating than, for example, Under Siege 2, Hard To Kill, Nico/Above The Law and Out For Justice. I think because Half Past Dead might appeal to a more mainstream audience (who will be attracted by Ja Rule and the modern MTV-like editing), instead of the oldschool 80/90's audience (to which I belong).

To be honest, I didn't think it was a good movie. The script was ok, but the dialogues where sometimes awfull and the guy who should save the movie (Steven of course) was I think only half the time or less on screen. This was certainly a bad thing, because Ja Rule and most of the rest of the cast weren't convincing at all.

But on the other hand, there was sufficient action to be found and some of the characters were quite funny. It's not a bad film, it's just not that special. I would rate it a 5.8 out of 10.
