but I get your meaning.....
'un-scripted' things are best for 'natural'...

That get's me wondering...I wonder just how much spontaneous stuff Steven does while reciting his lines? I bet he improvises quite a bit, and I bet he's good at it...It probably adds a more natural feel to the scene...I am thinking it would anyhow...In any case I think he's a good actor...:)

The Foreigner shows Seagal's age
25/07/2003 - 21:02:33

The Foreigner features Steven Seagal as Jon Cold, a former undercover operative, now working as a freelance agent delivering high-risk packages.

He is keen to retire from the business, but as he prepares for his father’s funeral, he is asked to make one last trip.

He reluctantly accepts the job of taking a mysterious package from France to Germany.

However, Cold soon discovers there are a lot of people determined to make sure he never completes his task.

Father Time has caught up with Seagal, he’s put on a few pounds and looks as out of place as a secret agent as an elephant in a tutu.

His lumbering efforts at being suave and sophisticated aren’t helped by the fact that he’s stuck with a nightmare of a film.

The Foreigner is convoluted and confusing. The characters come and go without leaving a mark, sometimes you have to wonder why they were there in the first place.

The fight scenes, normally a saving grace for Seagal, are just as bad.

He looks slow and heavy and every one of his 52 years.

I think it’s pipe and slippers time for Mr Seagal.
Action, 15. *

Stevens best character so far.

To me, each character is very new and different which makes them all sooo interesting and exciting in their own way...With each one there is something unique, yet I think there is a little bit of the real Steven is there in each one...I look forward to each movie, and
like them all for very different reasons...:)

If the reviewers didn't have Steven's weight to complain about, what would they do with all the spare time they'd have left over? All this bitching about his weight in movie reviews is getting really old.

Pipe and slippers time?
These idiots don't know that man at all do they? What a laugh...
If he sometimes appears less than energetic, I think it's probably because he is bored, bored, bored to tears...
Anyway, I hope he is healthy and happy...:)
Steven, I love you sooo much!

Smile dammit!
The Foreigner was ok but not his best. I was dissappointed at the slowed down action scenes but it was still a decent film. The plot was almost impossible to follow though. Max Ryan did well as the villain.

Well. Finally I can hear so many fair talks.
Personally, I think The Foreigner is better than Half Past Dead & The Patriot.( As many people said before here) His acting seems to be multiple and diversified, yeah I am so glad that he beats the ironic news. (Which said Mr.Seagal's movies are just action, no plots.)

My English is not good, plz forgive if you don't understand my post.

FU&D! Original Review - The Foreigner - 1/4 guns

On the surface, The Foreigner looked like it could've been a good movie - a "spy coming in from the cold" plotline, a woman in need and a nefarious bad guy. The sad fact is, however, that the movie sucks ass. My brother (an equally ardent Seagal fan) and I couldn't wait for this piece-of-sh!t movie to be over.

There are unexplained plot elements, missed chances of classic Seagal action, and pisspoor locations. In fact the movie's saving grace is not even Steven, but an over-the-top bad guy who wears his sunglasses in his hair and is never seen without a cigarette. In one scene he breaks into a building, shoots an innocent chambermaid through the heart, then waltzes past the head honcho's security guards? Huh?! Totally unintelligable but kinda cool.

Now that guy should have his own TV show! Seagal, however, should think again before committing himself to another disasterlike this flick. One gun of disappproval.

:gun:

Please see my Steven Seagal website for screencaps and audio clips.

I think this is his best straight to dvd film in my opinion and I rate it a strong 3.5/5

Wow I said that lol. I re rate it to:

A 3 out of 5 stars, plot confusing but some good action scenes.

I've just watched The Foreigner for the 4th time, and I think this is a good movie. Seagal doesn't fight a lot but i just like the style and the plot of the movie! All those people which are chasing a package. It's just a story that you will have to follow or else you don't know where the film is about. I like that, this is just not a simple story just like other Seagal movies. Great style, great story, nice rolles and a great Seagal. One of my favorite films he made in the last years.

I like that movie too. I think the locations are beautiful, the directing is stylish, and the plot is very clever. However the movie doesn't explain how did the two Russian get to that old cottage with the package. And this is a bit disturbing.
