WWE wrestling superstar The Rock has a new movie coming out Friday called Walking Tall which i'm gonna go see. I rented his The Rundown movie last week & i liked it. It had plenty of action. I like the part at the beginning when he goes to that club & beats up those football players. Are ya'll gonna check out Walking Tall & have u seen The Rundown? I guess The Rock is gonna be our new action star since Vin Diesel doesn't wanna have that title. I thought Vin was gonna be the next action star but he doesn't like doing sequels for some reason even though he's gonna do a sequel to Pitch Black. Did ya'll hear about rapper Ice Cube is gonna take Vin's place in XXX sequel? I don't think that's gonna work. I'd rather see Vin in the sequel.

"Walking Tall" looks like a copy of the steven seagal movie "Marked for Death". It's the same storyline, bad guys come and try to take over the town. And since the rock doesnt know any martial arts, it won't be nearly as good as any seagal movie, either.

I enjoyed the original Walking Tall. It was based on a true story
about sherriff Buford Pusser from Tennessee. Joe Don Baker
played him in the film. hugs, kat :)

This is supposed to be a remake of the original Walking Tall, but I think they dropped the Buford Pusser name for the character.

Before they named the movie, during the trailer of Walking Tall all I could think of was, "this would have been a great vehicle for Steven."

And I couldn't help noticing the physical similarities between the Rock and Steven, too....

Phooey. :(

I loved The Rundown, which was called Welcome to the Jungle here in Australia, and I'm looking forward to Walking Tall despite the very negative reviews it's getting. I'm also concerned it's been edited to death with a running time somewhere near 80 minutes!

I also wish The Rock would make a serious action movie (R rated) under his real name 'cause as long as he's using the old wrestler nickname his audiences will be limited.

I had no idea it was a remake. But I too, felt it would have been a great part for Seagal. I can already tell, this movie won't be too succesful.

I haven't yet seen The Rundown, but I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. I do like Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, quite a bit, so I'll have to rent that soon. I enjoyed him in the Scorpion King--one of those good/bad movies I like. :D

I hadn't heard that about a sequel to Pitch Black. I'm one of the few people I know who enjoyed that movie. Again, one of those good/bad ones. :D

I probably won't see Walking Tall until it comes out on video, but may very well enjoy it. I won't make the mistake of comparing it to the original, as many others may do. I was pretty young when that one came out and really don't remember it. Probably to my advantage. ;)

Thanks for the info, Charles. :)

So, how come The Rock got to keep his WWF name, but Chyna had to give hers up?

Maybe she just wanted to? An exerpt from E! Online interview with Joanie Lauer, a.k.a. Chyna:

ET: Is it important for you to separate Joanie from Chyna?

CHYNA: Absolutely. I always have to remind people because that is what they
see on TV every week. You start to become known as your character, and I
make no bones about it, Chyna is just a character. My name is Joanie and I
am a completely different person from my character. I would like to be me.

Actually, the WWF did in fact make her give up her name, saying her WWF name wasn't hers to use outside of WWF. But The Rock keeps his.

I smell a double standard here....

Really enjoyed The Rundown. Thought it was good. Quite funny in places too. Will have to look out for Walking Tall.

Supposed to be butchered by the censors in the UK though to gain a 12A rating. :( Luckily i saw the region 1 version.

I enjoyed the first Pitch Black, saw the trailer for the second and it doesn't look as promising.

Smile dammit!
The Rock doesn't have any fighting ability martial arts wise far as i know so he's hard to take seriously..And i've stated what i think of pro wrestling before. They can make anyone look good these days with stuntmen, choreographers and fx.

Well, I said this before and got yelled at, but I'll say this again. I still believe that movies that would just as well suit Steven are being given to The Rock because of The Rock's WWF background. I mean, I don't watch WWF, but I still know who The Rock is, and so he's got a guaranteed audience because of name recognition. The Rock is younger, more appealing to a younger age group (not to mention still in very good physical shape), and that is to whom the studios are pitching their movies.

He's getting the money, the marketing and publicity machine to support him and the projects, while Steven is in stv purgatory with poor scripts, bad directors, no-name actors and no marketing other than word-of-mouth (which is the only thing that's working in his favour).

Amos, Bo Svenson played Buford Busser in Walking Tall-The Final Chapter.
In 1973, The original Walking Tall starred Joe Don Baker as Buford Pusser.
Believe me I am old enough to remember, lol...:) :) hugs, kat

Welcome to the jungle was a good film. These are the kind of picture steven should do.
We just have to see if The Rock keep up the good work with the upcoming Spyhunter.

As things are now Rock could be the next big thing. Steven get a grip of your self.

The Rock still have is name cause wwe is producers to his films. And the rock still in the wrestling franchise..

I saw Walking Tall Saturday & it was very good. Vince McMahon who is the president of WWE was the producer of the film. The Rock's girl in the movie was cute.
