Seagal Fest Article

I was searching through the web when I came upon this article.

www.thefilmbasement.com/tim/seagalfest2003.html

I thought some members might find it enjoyable even if it does take the piss a little. Though in saying that, it is not really that mean spirited and the duo who wrote it are fans of his, though maybe not for the same reasons as some of us here.

Peace.

Thanks MMCK2, unfortunately I had seen parts of that before, I think...

I don't think the critique was very accurate, but then who are these people?

as he visits his daughter's Native American mother. Huh???

pony-tailed FedEx guy in the little-seen The Foreigner.

Ponytail?

Point to note:
These guys obviously think the girl in Ticker is attractive...
Shows the kind of taste they have, in the movie she looks like a drug addict...

Good article MMCK. Sure, they were a bit sarcastic but they seemed to like his stuff too. That bit about breaking Connery's wrist was something new to me. I take it his arm was shaken, not stirred!. I know the speech at the end of ODG has attracted criticism but he was spot-on in his message.

Yes, the speech was meaningful...
Very admirable...
He is quite correct and I think, very brilliant in his own way...

Hi Storm.

The incident between Sean Connery and Seagal, I think is reported in Connery's biography on the IMDB. Although he has never really publically revealed just what happened, he has however stated in several interviews that the making of "Never Say Never Again" was not a happy experience, for several reasons, and that it was the film that finally sickened him off the whole Bond thing. I happen to like Sean Connery and think he is one of the best actors ever to come from the U.K. I see him pretty much as our own Clint Eastwood -: both are iconic, and also they both play similar types of roles in similar types of films. Along with Roger Moore, I'd say he is the best James Bond.

Regarding the speech I know what you mean. I thought it was interesting and above all acurate. The critics have their knives out ready for Seagal no matter what he does. In the early days he was critised for making brainless, violent action flicks. Conversely, when he decides to make a film which will educate us on the dangers of toxic waste and delivers a message about the enviroment, he is then villified for being too preachy and not sticking to the formulae which made him famous. Honestly, the guy just cant win. Now I am not for one moment saying that his eco-warrior films are perfect (I have to admitt the message in them is a little too force fed) but I think the critics don't make an effort to judge his films fairly and generally always give him the **** end of the stick. I have a funny feeling if Acadamy luvvie Thomas Hanks(a pretty good actor who I don't like for some reason) was to make an ecological themed film with the same message he would probably win an oscar and be praised endlessly. Hollywood politics if you ask me.

Peace.

I agree. Hanks is as bland as grey (neutral grey, that is).Going back to the ODG speech when you're stood by heavy traffic you don't tend to think about cyanide and all the other crap in exhaust fumes. I'll get off my soap box now!

Steven has intense charisma...
I think it is quite threatening to many of the men out there...
Most of these critics who bash him are men, aren't they?
All I know is that he's got a real special something about him...;)
