everything you said is completely true-only a fool would compare two martial artists of two differences but the problem with fools is that idiocy is contagious and forever people will say ali v tyson, seagal v van damme, lennox lewis v rocky marciano etc etc

i have no doubt Seagal was very arrogant about himself and his abilities, hanging around Julius Nasso certainly helped with that. As for Van Damme, i have seen footage of him partying and drunk and the worse for wear and he is capable of saying and doing anything at a given moment.

i think its a question of bygones be bygones

it does concern me that Seagal is a self hallucinatory fantasy where he thinks he can get away with making films of such poor quality whilst not even looking after his own self; this isnt an overweight martial artist making brilliant action movies [ i wudnt care how big he was look at Sammo Hung] but its the fact that they are so damn awful and that there is no aikido

Van Damme has turned his life around since those days. Drink and drugs always lead to diabolical behaviour, and he's stopped the drugs and the excessive drinking. The Van Damme of now is far calmer than the one 10 years ago. And I'm sure Seagal himself has changed for the better. I'm sure he's not quite the perve he was circa Under Siege 2, Jenny McCarthy audition time. Actually both guys seem to have far less ego problems than they did ten years ago, maybe if John Legeuizamo saw Steven again, he may change his opinion of the big guy. All I'm saying is people can change. And after all JC's current wife, Gladys, a bodybuilder probably wouldn't take ay crap from the guy if he ever lifted his hands in anger again. Those closest to VD have said that he's matured a lot.

All I'm sayin about this is that for guys like that to change they must have the equivalent of a semi trailer landin on their head to get it........a leopard don't change it's spots........

MY POINT ALL ALONG!!! Listen, I don't care if he IS fat, I just care that he does not want to admit that he is fat

If he were to incorporate his age and weight in a cool character in a good movie, I would support that movie and call it a good movie.

He just seems to keep acting as if he ISN'T fat and that annoys me. And in my honest opinion, since Exit Wounds his only watchable movies were Half Past Dead (only for its budget that made it look good), Belly of the Beast (only for the insane amounts of action, Steven was using body doubles and was HUGE in that movie, so fat that I feared he might have gotten a heart attack..) and Into the Sun (the only movie where he seemed to WANT to be in that production, he lost weight, did all his lines and even did all his stunts, or the important ones anyway).

For the rest of his movies since Exit Wounds, only the first 20 minutes of Shadow Man were good, the rest, barely intelligible crap.

And what annoys me the most is the fact that for Into The Sun he did put the effort to lose the weight and be on set for the fight scenes and do his own voice dubbing... WHY COULD HE NOT DO IT FOR HIS OTHER MOVIES???

Today, at this moment, Van Damme would beat up Seagal...

And yeah, it took a big, loud and angry moment for Van Damme to clean up his act. He still likes to party and drink sometimes, but he is not an alcoholic and he is OFF drugs. THIS I KNOW FOR SURE. And he is getting his career back on track by doing some new and interesting things and developing as an actor.

Wish Steven would do the same.

My Hero.
Regardless of who started it or was the nastiest,it was really childish and out of control to chase someone down to a public place(club) and confront someone who had already walked away from the situation.Mr.Van Damme showed no self control or social graces that should have been natural especially in the buisness he is in.Just my thoughts on this subject.:)

Havent you ever heard this expression 'it takes an bigger man to walk away from an fight'..he did the right thing plus van damme is full of hot air...wouldnt take much to deflate him..

How can you possibly say it's okay for Seagal to talk sh*t to somebody then when Van Damme confronts him, you say he's the bigger man to walk away? Seagal is such a panzy.

My Mum who is 74 could probably knock seagal out these days.

End of the day, if i bad mouthed someone, then he fronted me, i'd expect to put up or shut up, Seagal bottled it, and showed himself for what he really is and was, just a MOVIE MARTIAL ARTIST.

Hell, even someone like Keanu Reeves who just got training for the Matrix could probably give Seagal some beats.

in your world only john mclane could do anything eh?

and seagal would whoop your mums ass

a movie martial artist? man you have shown your complete ignorance of martial arts in general by saying that

in fact you're just plain ignorant

and dont bother replying either, you go to Japan, live there for 25 years, run your own dojo as a foreigner and get constantly attacked by doubters and people wanting to embarrace and humiliate you, forge a successful film career, have your films make over $500m worldwide and THEN you come back and talk big

idiot

Disgruntled fan!
Director Sheldon Lettich has shed a bit of light on the friction between JC and SS. He also respond's to rumour's of other rift's JC supposedly had. It seem's Seagal is the only one who got up his nose (no drug jokes on this one please), and the major culprit was Arsenio Hall. Lettich is a friend of Sly and JCVD, and chances are he's a first hand witness to what went on.

Lettich writes:
"There was never any kind of friction between JCVD and Dolph. I've never heard a bad word spoken about Dolph by JCVD, nor likewise from Dolph.

Here's an anecdote which helps illustrate that. I was having dinner in New York City with JCVD and a friend of ours, Boaz Yakin, who directed "Remember The Titans" and wrote the script for the Dolph Lundgren version of "The Punisher." Just coincidentally we happened to run into Dolph and his wife at the same restaurant. All of us ended up hanging out together, and even going out to a nightclub afterwards. At no time was there any animosity whatsoever between Dolph and Jean-Claude. Both of them told me that the alleged "shoving match" was a joke, which some humorless folks in the Press took seriously.

Likewise there was never any animosity between JCVD and Arnold or Chuck, both of whom he knew personally. Obviously he got on well with Sly, because Sly invited him to that party at his house in Miami.

The only action star he seemed to have issues with is Seagal. And the one person who deserves a good deal of credit for fanning the flames of that one is Arsenio Hall, who had both JCVD and Seagal on his talk show in the 90's. Every time Arsenio had either Jean-Claude or Steven on his show, he would try to goad them into saying that they could kick the other guy's ass. I remember Jean-Claude giving Arsenio a humorous response, saying that he would would win a fight with Seagal because he could run faster. Seagal, however, answered Arsenio's qustions by making a few mildly disparaging remarks about JCVD, on-air, in front of millions of TV viewers.

As far as your question about whether or not JCVD could "wipe the floor" with Seagal, I really don't know Mr. Seagal well enough to make an intelligent guess about that one. I've seen Jean-Claude spar with some world-renowned fighters, so I know for sure that he can kick some serious ass when there's no cameras rolling. But all I know about Steven's fighting abilities is what I've seen him do on-screen. Maybe Sylvester Stallone knows something I don't know, but I would probably place my money on the same fighter that Rocky's betting on. "

Seagal did right, that was not the place and the moment to fight.I´ve did the same Steven. In planet Hollywood, one of his promotion actings...Van Damme was idiot.

But I´m sure that Van Damme wouldn´t say that words, in the same way to Steven alone in a room without witnesses.SUUUUUURE

Then, the things would be very painful for the drunken Van Damme.

It´s very easy in a famous place with famous people and cameras around you, and drunk, to be very brave and BIG MOUTH.

Say it alone, coward, aloooone

whatever, i think that seagal is a much higher level in martial arts techniques than van damme, but van damme is definitely in better shape for such confrontations.
All in all, both are stupid when they confront each other like a couple of monkeys "Hey, i can kick your ass", "no, i can kick YOUR ass", "no, your ass", "Your ass", "your ass"....

But i didn't know what happened before, so, whatever...

You´re right, too

why would Stallone lie? What would he benefit from it?

But since Aikido is a worthless martial art (sorry guys but it is), and Seagal has never been in great shape I can't see him winning...against anyone in great shape.

Stallone is a cool guy, with a lot of friends. His words must not read in a bad way. It´s only an answer between hundreds more.

He saw Van Damme strong in that moment, and Seagal in his own world thinking the best to do.IN A PARTY.Then,he said an opinion, Sly never have insulted Seagal, more, the only person that Seagal is comfortable in the Hollywood parties is with Sly, because is a very positive man, and knows in his own flesh the fleeting, the brief that could be a shooting Hollywood star.

In 1997 Seagal was in horrible Shape, he wouldn't be able to compete with Van Damme unless Van Damme got sloppy or Seagal just managed to grab a hold of him...

Van Damme may have been on coke at the time and could have been amped up...

But him and Seagal issued those threats to each other back in the early 90s?! Seagal aged tremedously over the years, don't forget he is atleast 10 years older that van damme isn't he?

Just think its a little strange that it took all that time before they, or Van Damme decided to settle the score...

But again I don't know why Stallone would lie about it unless to get back at Seagal for that cheap shot Seagal dished out about him doing another Rocky....Which by the way is getting more critical acclaim than anything Stallone has received since the original.

Yeah, the movie have very good critics, the fights are incredible, the lines are very intimate, human, and part of the reallife of every human being...I can´t wait to see Rocky Balboa in the big screen.

Everybody says is very pleasent. But I live in Europe...till January I must wait!!!

And I don´t want to see the internet screeners....

Love everybody

Seagal used to have a HUGE talent for making people angry. I remember interviews in which he called most other action stars as useless when compared to him. He didn’t name names, but the references were pretty obvious.

Van Damme was right to stand up to Seagal.

SEAGAL WAS (don’t know if he still is) A GREAT MARTIAL ARTIST. He has tremendous skill.

BUT, don’t ever call Van Damme a blow-hard or something like that. The man has real martial arts skills and has one of the most powerful kicks. He always was in super fit shape, unlike Seagal who was fat BEFORE Exit Wounds and got HUGELY FAT afterwards. Granted, aikido does NOT rely on physical strength, but against a tip-top shape, steaming mad Van Damme, Seagal COULD HAVE REALISTICALLY LOST[/]b.

Also, Van Damme and Lundgren NEVER fought. There was only a publicity stunt done in front of the theatre for the premiere of Universal Soldier, a fake fight.

Also Van Damme has had the courage to face his drug addiction and BEAT IT. HE IS CLEAN NOW, something that was confirmed by a lot of people while he was here in Romania.

Seagal was mentioned for two things here in Romania, his really generous charity work and his HUGE appetite (there are many reports in the press of him going to restaurants and chomping down large quantities of food).

I respect Van Damme for how he has had the courage to get out of a disaster of a marriage (which is what led him to drug abuse), rebuild his family life and get his career and life back on track.

I respect Seagal for his skills, his charity work, his music and his charisma and views about ecological matters.

BUT, please understand that Seagal has a huge ego, he was often calling Van Damme a Belgian waffle in interviews, Chuck Norris a nobody and Stallone and Arnold as all muscles and no skill. Sorry, that was rude and when Van Damme stood up to him (something he confirmed to have done, but would not give more details out of respect for Stallone and Seagal and because he grew up, matured and is beyond name calling) he was right to do so, bullies should get their asses kicked and that was what would have happened to Seagal if he would have fought Van Damme.

I love most action stars and will no stand to hear anyone bash them around because they are so blind to not see the faults of their favorite actor.

I think I might have to leave this forum, nobody here has enough courage to admit the truth and people are too BLIND and CLOSED MINDED.

And always keep in mind that I am a fan of Seagal, a real fan, unlike many on this forum who are blind worshipers.

P.S. In actuality, both Seagal and Van Damme were acting like horny teenagers trying to prove who is coolest. I KNOW for a fact that Van Damme has matured since then, Seagal I believe he also has done the same, unfortunately he never does interviews anymore…or good movies.

Seagal used to have a HUGE talent for making people angry

TRUE, BAD THING

Also Van Damme has had the courage to face his drug addiction and BEAT IT. HE IS CLEAN NOW, something that was confirmed by a lot of people while he was here in Romania.

NOBODY BELIEVE THAT.VAN DAMME IS STILL ADDICTED TO COCAINE AND WOMANS.LOOK HIS FACE AND HIS NOSE,MAN.
WHATEVER, I LIKE HIM, THAT´S HIS PROBLEM.I´M AN ADDICTED TO BEERS AND WOMAN TOO, AND SOMETIMES I PASSED 3 MONTHS GOOD, AND FALLS AGAIN.THE ADDICTED PEOPLE WITH MONEY ALWAYS FALL DOWN AGAIN SOMETIMES

BUT, please understand that Seagal has a huge ego

TRUE, AND BAD THING FOR HIM

he was often calling Van Damme a Belgian waffle in interviews, Chuck Norris was nobody and Stallone and Arnold as all muscles and no skill.

YEAH, HE SAID ALL THAT STUPID GARBAGE, CHUCK IS A GREAT MASTER, AND SLY HAS GREAT BOXING SKILLS.ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO BE PUNCHED BY STALLONE IN ANY PART OF HIS BODY??IN YOUR FACE, IN THE LIVER MAYBE, OR YOU PREFER THE RIBS???ME NOT

I think I might have to leave this forum, nobody here has enough courage to admit the truth and people are too BLIND and CLOSED MINDED.

IN THIS WEBSITE¨THE VETERANS¨ARE THE DIE HARDEST CRITICS OF THE WORLD OF SEAGAL IN THE BAD THINGS, AND HIS FANS IN THE GOOD ONES.
WE SAY THE GOOD AND THE BAD THINGS OF SEAGAL.I´M NOT BLIND, PAL.

I THINK THAT SEAGAL IS CHARISMATIC, BUT SUPERB OVERWEIGHT AND OUT OF PHYSICAL SHAPE.

BUT IF i SAY THAT VAN DAMME, INSTEAD HIS MUSCLES(THAT MANY TIMES DOESN´T MEAN GOOD SHAPE)COULD BE BEATED BY SEAGAL IS AN OPINION, NOT A BLIND COMMENT.

I´M IN A GOOD¨MUSCLE¨FITNESS LOOKING SHAPE, AND I´M SHODAN, 36, BUT WHEN I´M DRUNKED OR WITHOUT ENOUGH SLEEP I´M NOT IN SHAPE.THAT´S THE POINT

WHAT I MEAN? THAT STEVEN FAT WILL KICK VAN DAMME ASS WITHOUT ANY DOUBT BECAUSE THE AIKIDO SKILLS OF DISTANCE, CONCENTRATION, SKIN SENSIBILITY AND TO BE AHEAD OF THE OPONENT MOVEMENT ARE SKILLS THAT A 7TH DAN DON´T LOSE TO BE FAT, AND VAN DAMME NEVER HAD AND WILL NEVER HAS THAT SKILLS.IS A GREAT FILMS ACTION ICON HERO, NOT A GREAT MASTER.

NOW YOU CAN THINK BY YOURSELF

LOVE EVERYBODY
