.. As for the next Star Wars film, Fisher says she, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill are expected to report to work in March or April. "I'd like to wear my old [cinnamon buns] hairstyle again — but with white hair," she says. "I think that would be funny."

J.J. Abrams completes ‘Star Wars’ script.
http://www.hypable.com/2014/01/20/star-wars-episode-vii-script-complete-jj-abrams/

The usually tight-lipped J.J. Abrams has opened up on the progress of Star Wars: Episode VII.
In December, we learned that the script for Star Wars: Episode VII was not finished. After Academy Award winning screenwriter Michael Arndt left the project, he was replaced by director Abrams and Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan. After that change, Disney expected the script to be done by January.
It looks like Abrams and Kasdan have met their deadline.
Speaking Sunday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour to promote his new TV series Believe, Abrams told
The Wrap “We’re working really hard and we’ve got our script and we’re in deep prep. Full steam ahead, y’know.”
We learned
last week what it appears the current (and likely final) script looks like. Apparently, when Arndt was writing the script, Star Wars: Episode VII focused on the children of the trio from the original trilogy: Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo.
The new script shifts the focus to Luke, Leia, and Han for one final time in Episode VII. Their children will take supporting roles in the film, but those roles will become the lead roles in Episode VIII and IX.

STAR WARS Episode 7 will begin production in May 2014.

Star Wars: Episode VII Set 30 Years After Return of the Jedi, Will Feature Heroic Trio

Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm today revealed that, as has long been expected, their Star Wars: Episode VII will begin production at London's historic Pinewood Studios in May. What's more, they've confirmed that the action in the sequel will be set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi and that the storyline follows "a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces." ;)

The film's cast is expected to be announced shortly with "Girls" and Inside Llewyn Davis star Adam Driver heavily rumored to play the film's Darth Vader-like antagonist. Among the other actors rumored to be in contention are 12 Years a Slave's Lupita Nyong'o and quite a few young male stars.

Harrison Ford's Han Solo Rumored to Play Major Role in Star Wars: Episode VII

Star Wars: Episode VII expected to be announced any day now, Deadline has pieced together a number of rumors and are now adding Inside Llewyn Davis star Oscar Isaac's name to the list of talent up for potential leading roles. They also report on a tidbit that, if true, should delight Star Wars fans, claiming that Harrison Ford's Han Solo plays a "gigantic" part in the next chapter of the space fantasy.

Isaac's name, meanwhile, joins the likes of Adam Driver, John Boyega and Maisie Richardson-Sellers as the alleged top choices to star in the December 18, 2015 release.

Scripted by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, Star Wars: Episode VII will be set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi and will follow a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew are also expected to reprise their respective roles. At this time, however, Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm have only confirmed a single star: R2-D2.

With the recent revelation that Star Wars: Episode VII is already in production, expect some additional confirmations regarding the much-anticipated release in the very near future and check back for full details as they become available.

Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm have announced the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII! Director J.J. Abrams says, "We are so excited to finally share the cast of 'Star Wars: Episode VII.' It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud."

Hey, guys, a request for your personal opinion.

Being old enough to remember the original three as released  LOL and enjoying them thoroughly, for some reason I couldn't seem to get into the "prequels". Now that I have the time and more patience, do you guys think those others are worth watching?

And are they "necessary" or helpful before watching this newest one, SW-VII?

Thanks!

First set video from STAR WARS Episode 7 :cool:

Man oh man, how do you FIND this stuff? LOL Well done, Mason.

I have seen J.J. Abrams' name in the credits of many shows I've followed and enjoyed, but don't remember seeing his picture before. He has kind of a geek-nerdy look, doesn't he? Cool! :D

Well, they are definitely worth watching. Some cool action scenes and some good stories. But in my opinion, the acting is noting special, the only two really good actors in the prequels are Ian McDiarmid (Palpatine/Darth Sidious) and Liam Neeson (Qui Gon Jinn).

I dont think that they are absolutely necessary to watch, we already know how it all ends in EP 6, but it is always interesting to see a saga/frachise from the beginning. Since nobody actualy has any official storyline for Episode 7 yet, I cant tell you if it necessary to watch the prequels first. But you got allmost A year and A half to watch only 3 movies, so I think you will be able to make it by December 18th 2015 :D:D

Agreed about seeing a franchise from the beginning. And I'm definitely a fan of Neeson and McDiarmid.
And agreed about finding the time by December 2015 to watch them. :D

Thanks for taking the time to give your opinion, Mason! I was planning to watch them anyway -- no offense! LOL. I was just curious what others thought about them. I have never let the opinion of a critic or anyone else decide for me if I was going to see a movie.

After all, for a lot of years I was the only one of my family and friends who ever liked Seagal. Never stopped me! :D
