I like Seagal as much as anyone but if he was health conscious he wouldn't have allowed his weight to balloon. His critics have had a field day ever since. Even Van Damme has kept fit. Finding a good review for HPD was hard work...

It would surprise me if he every really smoked because he claims he is soooooo sensitive to "chemicals". And he says that his asthma was really severe. Does anybody remember this story: I think it was during the filming of Glimmerman, and he refused to work on the set for like a week or so because the nearby set of the Batman movie was releasing fumes? It cost the studio lots of money when he was out of work because he got paid something like $200,000/day, and he sat out for so many days. I seem to recall that the studio might have even sued him for that lost money.
Anyway, the only reason I bring that up is to point out that if he seems so super sensitive to chemicals, then I doubt that he smokes. And I totally agree with what you guys said above -- he can't even hold a cigarette correctly, and didn't inhale in those movies.
I once heard a rumor that he smoked pot, but I totally can't believe that to be true. It just doesn't suit his style. And he used to be active in anti-drug causes for kids.

Did you see that Celebrity Chef article someone mentioned in a post here? (I can't find the original message that had the link) One of the recipes was one made specially for Steven. It was, in my opinion, way too high in fat and carbohydrates, and it simply reinforces my opinion that some- not all, but some - vegetarian diets are decidedly *not* healthy. Just because a diet has an absence of meat does not necessarily make it any healthier than one with meat, as evidenced by this particular recipe.
He probably spends a lot less time in the day exercising regularly, as well (one article I read quotes him as saying he meditates 4 hours a day. It didn't say if he spent any time at all exercising, or practicing his martial arts).
While I have no objection at all to the, um, expanded version of Steven Seagal, the fact is, he's a big man to begin with - tall, anyhow - and they don't live as long as smaller men, so he's *got* to be more careful.

Yes TD, he's just a man, just human like all of us (however I think he is sooo very special) Ahem, Steven if you are reading this, I simply adore you, honey! I think you are wonderful!
So he eats some fat, and doesn't exersize near enough...A lot of us do the same things, me included...
I think a lot of moral support is missing in my life, perhaps he could use some more positive support too...Perhaps he does feel the need to meditate a lot and doesn't have a lot of time for much else, I mean surely with his hectic life, filming and traveling and all, striking a balance must become very hard...Maybe it easier to suggest it from the ouside point of view than to do it in real life...

I agree that smells-perfumes,deodarants etc can affect your health greatly. You may not even realize it,but it affects your mood, your breathing & you will find you feel a lot better when you are away from those odors. Try to get an air cleaner-they help.
A lot of cities are starting to outlaw public smoking! They even have undercover cops in bars to catch ya!

I didn't mean to sound as if I was criticizing him - I wasn't, not at all. I was just worrying about his health in general. I know how hard it is to keep a balance between work and health care concerns. You should hear the lectures my doctor gives me every year to take better care of my health (I'm a year away from the age my mother was when she died, and it's a very real concern).
As a consequence, I find it easier to worry about somebody else than about myself, and who better to worry about than Steven!
As for the moral support, yes, I think we all need it, and if he's not getting it from those closest to him, then you and I should apply to supply it!
