Assuming that this was "thought out" in French, originally, I would think that Aurora (When she gets back she will correct me if I'm wrong, I hope) is saying that the young Asian person who is next to Steven could be his Daughter after all... and that they stand quite away/far from each other.

Then the Lady from Tibet might be someone he's taken under his wing, he could be his "mentor" while she's busy in a foreign country... It does happen that a woman and a man who are often seen together do NOT have a romance together, doesn't it...? ;-)))
