Action film star Steven Seagal accompanied UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva to the Octagon at UFC 126 on Saturday night before Silva knocked Vitor Belfort out with a highlight reel front kick. Seagal was not just there for star power. According to Silva, he learned the kick from Seagal.

"Steven Seagal helped me perfect that kick. That was a kick we were working on before I stepped in," Silva said through a translator at the post-fight press conference. "This was a kick that I trained a lot."

Seagal is known for the movies "Above the Law" and "Out for Justice," but he's also an accomplished martial artist, holding a black belt in aikido, a Japanese martial art, that he earned in Japan. His prowess has helped Silva become Yahoo! Sports' second-ranked pound-for-pound fighter in MMA.

He trains at the elite Black House gym with Silva, UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo and several other high level fighters, and is seen in this Brazilian video teaching Silva and other Blackhouse fighters.

This wasn't his first time at a fight with Silva, as he accompanied him to the cage before Silva's comeback victory at UFC 117. Now, Seagal can add two-time winning corner man to his resume.

It´s awesome...God, Seagal rocks in his stuff. Pretty Cool The Big Guy. And Silva is amazing.

Thanks, Suzi.

After the fight Seagal was interviewed twice- one man and one woman.

He claimed that he invented the kick. That´s ridiculous. Even I knew the kick.

The user on youtube they call Seagal "a man who lives in his own world and has a big ego".

I personally think that Seagal exaggerated a little to much.

He should have said that he trained the kick with Silva and end of discussion.

But to say that he "invented" the kick is beyond words.

I´m a huge Seagal fan as we all are but sometimes I think "less is more"!

I think at times we all blurt things out without giving it any thought, and then after words we would like to kick ourselves for opening our mouths.

Yes, of course he didn´t invent the kick, he always make far too much...I think that´s the way he is, the way he teaches budo...It´s a kick he learned almost 40 years ago, he likes it, and works well when practise makes perfect...Victor Belfort didn´t expect that kick to the face, Silva fakes the kick to the body leaded by Seagal and I think it would be a long time remember technique.

Seagal said he teaches for love, I believe him. If I was a fighter I would be pretty inspired and motivated with Seagal in my corner, and in my life as personal Sensei.

I don´t take into account that statement...it´s only words, it´s an amazing man and a great Aikidoka.

Let´s see if the fighters starts using that kick...

Yeah, it´s the gospel truth...Irishbabe, I put my foot in my mouth so many times...and I´m not a action movies superstar.

Sorry y'all but this is not a case of Seagal putting his foot in his mouth or blurting out the wrong thing. He's just simply full of it. In one interview, he says that he's the one who instructed Silva not to engage in the fight at first. In another, he's going on about how he thinks Silva didn't engage because of some form of phobia, adding that he has a word for this but that he cannot say it on tape. This is all just classic Seagal BSing. He says he was 'raised in Japan' (he wasn't) and that he was taught this kick 35-40 years ago, that he has been perfecting it ever since and that no one knows it but a few fighters that he's shared it with. Ahem, it's a very basic kick taught in many different martial art styles. Reminds me of when Seagal was bragging on set that he was immune to being choked out only to be choked out and soil himself, or of when he was running at the mouth and abusing stuntmen only to be physically silenced by Judo Gene Lebell. My point? You guys are WAY too forgiving. I like his movies, but let's face it, the guy is a CREEP in real life. He also seems to have a serious problem with telling the truth.

I am all for free speech, hon, believe me. I just don't understand why one would come onto a Fan Forum to say someone is a "Creep"...among other things.

For instance, I met a rock star I really, really liked....and what happened? The man in question proceeded to get obliterated on Tequila, "play"
with two strippers in front of me and the other 5 people at the radio station the night in question...then pass out drunk in front of us. This is not what upset me though.

I have worked in the medical field, so after they picked him up off the floor, I was keeping a close eye to make sure he did not hurt himself further, asphyxiate by tossing his"cookies" etc....Well, when Mr. Rock Star came to, he reached for my arm...and I jumped out of the way, cuz, hey, I had SEEN where his hands had been...he then proceeded to try and hit me because he could not "touch" me....thank goodness his manager came into the room just as this was happening.

Now, do I find a fan Forum for this "gentleman 80's Rock star" and go telling everyone this?

No.

Because my time is far better spent on people, like Steven, who I actually have admiration and respect for...

Yes, Charles, I´m WAY too forgiving...I know...but Seagal is the way he is, and I accepted that fact since the day I signed into this place, I struggled with myself many times, not anymore...and I like to chat now & then in this site with the guys, and make jokes with the ¨StevenWeLoveYouComeHereWeAreGonnaEatYouLoveYouTillTheEndOfTimes¨ club of amazing funny girls I´ve met here.

And I like his movies, the same arrogant mother****er character he always play movie after movie...in 23 years is the same movie again and again...

I understand you and perhaps you´re right, but I do like Steven Seagal anyway.

Chao, pal!

Charles......go away. We don't need haters here. Are YOU perfect?! THat's what makes us human.

Some people are really talking CRAP on youtube and other forums about this and Seagal's involvement. The way I see it, SS had a COUPLE (not one) of training sessions with Silva (Silva said so in I think the post fight interview). SS taught a modified version of a front kick to Silva and Silva used it. Even former MMA fighter Bas Rutten when he saw the knockout kick tweeted " Never ever seen this, wow, haha"
and "From now on, that's the weapon to watch out for from Silva, almost no hip movement so u couldn't tell it was coming"

Then Bas found out Silva said SS taught it to him and Bas changed his story to "Seagal now claiming he taught Silva that kick? And he REALLY believes this? wow, again, WOW! " etc. So it went from a miracle non-telegraphing kick to a kick everyone knows as soon as Bas found out SS was involved. I post as cerebral psych on youtube so you can find my posts defending SS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcNgrp2Ftew and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93uyDLhTQYQ My computer did an automatic restart and I lost the other pages/videos but... These people try my Zen patience. But just a bit.

If anyone feels moved to post on those vids or any of the MMA sites where people for some reason people believe the BS and rumors etc. about SS so they talking bad about him, please do Post in his defense!
