Lawman breaks A&E record!!!!

WOW!!!

Guys this is fantastic, if Seagal can lose some weight, get rid of the bloated face, some decent clothes and milk this new-found promotion for all it's worth he could make a serious comeback. Think a slim Seagal, think some solid co-starring parts, think gradual climb to theatrical starring role. One last hurrah is still possible.

A moment to be proud of for him, his team and A&E.

This could boost his public image big time.

Peace

have to say its done better than i thought it would

that said seagal has a problem has he already has 3 films yet to be released in the US

TK,DM,AND BTRH...by the time they have been released seagal will be thought of a has a STV action start again and the momentum from this will have gone...unless his role in machete is well recieved

he did the same after EW he rushed in to a contract to make HPD,TF and OFAK

he should have waited 2 years if he had to to keep his reputation

He had a lot of media last week, Hannity on Fox News Channel was the only one I saw most of. He did a phenomenal job!

It was a lot better than I expected, or could have hoped for. I just wish he'd lose the fakey-fakey New Ahleens accent that he's affected in the past few years and which he's brought with him into this series.

Steven Seagal, the martial-arts movie star who is trying his hand at reality TV, ought to file a missing-persons report -- because he's lost nearly half his audience in a week.

Between Weeks 1 and 2 of his new show, "Lawman" on A&E, more than 43 percent of his viewers disappeared, according to Nielsen.

On the show, Seagal is followed by cameras as he rides along -- as a deputy -- with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office in Louisiana.

The show got mixed reviews from critics for its unintentional comedy, poking fun at Seagal's action-hero reputation and the sheer awkwardness of a Hollywood actor comporting himself as a cop in the real world of petty crime and traffic stops.

From the ratings, it would appear a lot of fans believe one episode was enough for them.

The series' premiere two weeks ago set a record for the longtime cable channel, 3.6 million viewers.

But by last week, the ratings were down to just 2 million people watching.

That's not a bad number for cable TV, where about 1 million viewers is the cutoff for failure on new shows, but disappointing for a show with a big-bang start.

Was expecting a drop off compared with the first couple of episodes, but i still think it is a reasonable number of viewers.

Decline in Numbers to Lawman

I was a bit anxious to see, or read if the numbers stayed up for his new series, or would take a hit. I had a hunch after the "People" magazine story, and a reference to check out his friends dog training site, (you'd have had to read the blog on that website to understand), "women" who make up a good share of viewers, and fans, just might start dropping off. While I fully understand men thinking how "lucky", or "studly" someone would be for marrying some young thing half their age, and the "oh boy, look at me I got her pregnant, and now I'm having another baby just to prove I'm really not old, and, I've still got "it", and "it" works as good as when I was really 29", it can and will turn off a lot of women fans his age, or darn close to it! He opened the "flood gates" after that first week of his show, with mentioning his new wife, "Elle", and the birth of his 7th child. It has been the hot topic on a lot of websites and Facebook, and the comments by women haven't been favorable. Maybe his uncomfortable look on the "View" was due to the fact he was a wee bit worried those women might bring it up and then jump all over him! By all means he is entitled to his privacy, and what he does behind closed doors isn't any of our business, but when you try and "hide it", as he apparently has been for months now, and then comes out grinning from ear to ear, because he bedded someone younger than his two eldest children, and has two Grandchildren that are now older than their "uncle", it's going to cause a stir. If you're so "happy and proud" of yourself, then admit it in public long before it becomes a "shock" to your fans. This is the kind of thing a drop in ratings is made of. Personally I'm so against an older man and a way younger woman being together, or marrying, I would have been "sick" from the beginning. It's a personal turn-off. So, I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn viewers will continue to drop off. Oh, and just in case you're wondering, I am a 60 year old woman, divorced for many years, who has never diluted myself or saw myself as anyone he'd ever want, so please, NO jealousy talk here!! LOL I was a Nurse for too many years and around people from all walks of life, and learned a lot about human behavior as well as tending to the "sick and wounded"!

Just one "old lady's" take on this, and I'll never try being "younger" by seeing if I can "catch and bed" a young man! I accept aging as a natural process and realize no matter how hard you try, you can not go back in time! It's all about you being comfortable in your own skin, and accepting and loving yourself and aging gracefully.

Sincerely,
Kate

I have been giving this a lot of thought the past few days and I seem to get the impression that Seagalgal maybe just a little bit jealous of Steven's new found love. Maybe I've just been reading the wrong blogs.

I believe that no matter how old or how young you are everyone is looking for that one soul mate. Some people search forever and never are able to find that one person were they feel totally complete in body, mind and spirit. I believe that every bodies journey in life has been preordained, but there is the human factor to consider and at times we all must deal with our own humanity. My grandfather once told me to stop pointing my figure and finding fault with others because eventually that finger will curl around and point right back at me.
I can only imagine the difficulties of having your public life on display, let alone your private one as well. I wonder if someone were to come and clean out the skeleton's in own closets we would like what the world might say about us.

Just food for thought.

You Are Probably Right

Thank-you Irishgirl for your comment on my post. You are probably more right than wrong, and I'm "mature" enough to admit it. I have been very angry and frustrated after learning once again, an older man has married someone young enough to be his daughter. Is it really love, or is it really lust, who knows. Not really my problem. Mr. Seagal, with the exception of his first wife, does have a track record though of marrying much younger women and getting them pregnant. (or, is it vice versa, pregnant, then marriage?) LOL Either way, my attitudes and the way I look at things for the most part were instilled in me from childhood, and through the years now as a retired Nurse I have changed a lot of the way I was brought up to see people, but one thing I've seen a lot of is the end result of such a relationship is, it never, for the most part works as a life long commitment between an older man, and younger woman ,and quite honestly the other way around too. I know there are exceptions to every case, and some have worked. But, just thinking about this one person, and their "track record", I still beieve he should try someone his own age for a change. I can tell you and everyone a personal story and an example of what I mean. I have an Uncle, (my Mother's youngest brother), who years ago married a much younger woman and they had three kids. They are still married to this day, but----now that my Uncle is approaching 80 he isn't able to keep up with that "much younger woman" of 65 and all the running and going she wants to do now that she is retired. She's frustrated, he's angry that he's not as young anymore, and now they seem to have almost nothing in common. I think therein lies what nobody ever considers before making these kinds of "life-long" decisions. I could actually name another big name entertainer I know personally, (which would be unethical for me to do), but he is now facing the exact same thing as my Uncle with his "younger wife". (only this person hasn't hit 80 yet! LOL)

I totally agree and respect your Grandfathers words of wisdom. He sounds like a very smart and "knowing" man. And, I do agree with you that everybodies journey in life has been preordained. I guess some of us are just luckier than others. Again, I sincerely thank-you for your comments, and making me look deeper inside myself.

Happy Holidays to you and your's, and please if you ever care to write again, please do so.
Sincerely,
Kate (who is "English/Irish" and very opinionated & stubborn! LOL)

Chrissy,

People's magazine is sold in stores. That's where I bought mine and I have read all about that article. I am not sure if you can pull it up on the internet or not. You might try it.
